I haven't seen a single picture of this that shows it looks chrome. I've seen plenty of images and videos that show the iridescence of the paint app. Even clipperking said you can see the subtleties in the paintwork.

If it shows up chrome I will not be happy.

I wouldn't call it chrome, but it's certainly a reflective silver which stands out more to me than the hues in the paintwork

I wouldn't call it chrome, but it's definitely silver and it's much too bright and shiny. It should be more of a gray/muted silver. The forearms and torso should be matte as well, but that's nowhere near as egregious as the armor. Damn you, HT!

Fair enough. The forearms and torso but should be an easy fix. I guess in hand is the real test. If it doesn't look enough like it came right out of the movie, back it goes.

I fell in love with the figure in the promo pics, but Robo looked even more screen accurate at the cons. This is the figure we should be getting, perfect armor, perfect skin.

I would've bought at least two of these, maybe three, easy. It would've been the definitive Robo to own. Seeing these pics makes me want to.... :gah:

Something must have happened to the paint during production. HT couldn't replicate it on a mass-scale because it was either too difficult or too expensive to do so.

Thanks for posting those picts for our comparison and our "understanding" of what we were suppose to receive.

Yeah this new figure looks like a toy....not interested!

Dayumn this thread is turning depressing with people saying it's not as good as the prototype (which looks amazing, especially those on page 580). I really hope this isn't as bad in hand as some of you say it is otherwise it will feel like a huge waste of cash.

it may not be perfect, but it still looks like an epic robo figure, by far the best 1/6th version
im still pumped to get it, shiney paint and all

I believe the reason for the difference in proto/production paint is a result of providing a greater contrast between this release and a possible Robocop 2 release. I have a hard time accepting that HT could not match R1 colour. I can accept however that
Skewing colour of release will drive collectors to purchase (double dip) on a colour accurate R2 release (meaning HT does not have to go “that” blue for Robocop 2)

People want Robocop now. It could be black and they would buy it!!

Me too really, just hope it looks as good as I think it will.

We had a black suited Robocop once this year already, it sucked. Wouldn't buy. ;)

That's the prototype, not the mass produced one that were getting.

I know man. When it comes to this figure, I swing from really excited to really depressed - I said as much in the ThreeZero Robo reboot figure thread. This figure has me feeling bittersweet.

I only own the Ultra Police cap-firing Robo and a few NECA Robos, so this will easily be my best Robo figure in any scale/price range. It just isn't as awesome as it could have been.

As evidenced by the promo and con pics, HT had the means...it just didn't deliver the goods.

Yep. I had the original Hot Toys Robocop and wow it looks horrific by todays standards. I also have the little blue NES version by NECA. So like you, this is a big step-up from both of those. I'm sure we'll love it when it arrives.

I got my HT Robo a couple of weeks ago. I am very impressed. I was one of those skeptics, but it's a great figure in hand. Sure, they could've emphasized more on the blue/green/purple effects, but it's still a great figure. I had the Enterbay one too, and didn't think this would be better. I was wrong.

Hey guys...Me thinks we might be underestimating Robo's reflectiveness in the movie
Looks bang on to me.:yess:

Yes, it should be reflective, but only under really, really bright, intense light. I could be mistaken, but I think all of the guys who already own this, by way of HK, said it's on the bright side. By how many degrees is in the eye of the beholder.

This is the paint job we should be getting. I've seen so many pictures and video reviews with that ultra shiny silver and it's a huge turnoff. How does HT **** it up so much and allow this to happen? It's such a disappointment. For over $300, it should look like the prototype. There's no excuse. I'll most likely cancel and maybe pick it up in the future once the price drops.

In the last pic - it's not a bright room (Going Home scene) and there is still massive light reflection on the helmet. Hot Toys even nailed the flecks in the finish...C'mon guys - Hot Toys nailed it - Can't we be happy...for once.:wink1:
