Hey guy so I was on FB and Martin Canale put up some WIP pics from the Apoc and King Hulk PFs, in the background I caught something that may be of some serious interest to all of us (unless you're like total SSC haters)

I was totally joking!!!!! Now I feel like a ******!!!! :slap

Congrats on wolverine though. Personally I'd take him over Mags just because I love all things wolverine

haha, no worries bro. I just had to re think how I approach XM products and now I'm pretty happy with the direction I have taken. And Wolverine is just a must have for me right now so I'm pretty damn thrilled!

Brain fart there.

Still I just don't think it's a big deal to them. Also I think people return stuff too easily, a couple of paint splashes is enough these day's to claim a refund. Collectors ironically screw their own kind every time someone punts a statue back because it has a red dot on the base.

If Sideshow can ask you to destroy something AND give you money back, they aint short of money. They might pretend they care, but really, they keep punting them out and we keep scooping them up.

SS just needs to invest in a 2nd line of defense. Xm is finding flaws in their statues as well. You just don't hear about them because by the time they make it to a collectors home they have already been professionally touched up. And before someone chimes in with the "SS makes too many statues crap" just remember they've also been in the biz for 20 years and have more capital and resources then any other collectibles company out there. They just need to implement the extra measures. Then SS would be a force to be reckoned with in the QC department.

You'll get to know the guys well. Whomever you choose to deal with. I was apprehensive at first as well. Who wouldn't be? It's a foreign concept to all of us but at the end of the day these guys are good peeps and we have an Avenue luckily to get our hands on this statue and others like him :hi5:

Totally, I'm looking forward to getting to know them and continuing my addiction to awesome statues! :hi5:

Is it? I thought it was weird that it was just sitting there. It looks like it is a little different from the original though. I could be wrong, but who wouldn't want a new PF done by the GG

Think about how much stuff they make though, lets just say they have at any one time 3 PFs, 2 busts, a legendary, a couple of 1/5th's and a prop (that's being kind, more likely they have more than that).

You're looking at possibly 50 thousand pieces. How is anyone going to check 50'000 of something, constantly while more are getting pumped off the production line? It's never going to happen. QC is just a by product of large edition sizes.

No point comparing XM - they make edition sizes in the hundreds and have like 5 statues. I'm not a SS lover by any stretch but I think a lot of people just don't get it.

Edition sizes doesn't matter! You only become BIG when you are able to keep your word's! QC is a part of their job and if they are not able to secure this guarantee, then you will not be named CORPORATE!

Nah son, I only do female statues :lol

I was just joking, that post-Magneto ranting was astounding. I like to keep up with the male XM statues, cause they look raw. Black Widow is only on my list for now.

Oh I know dude. I was just adding insult to to your statement in a total jokingly way. I watched the death threats placed on XMs FB page! It was mass hysteria for several. Crazy how much attention one statue can get like that.

@Solar

I hear what your saying man but there are measures they could put into place. It would just cut into their bottom line. That's the problem I have with the whole situation. For every statue you just mentioned there's a revenue goal behind it as well. Your talk about the amount they produce and that to me is credence to how much money they are making. Sometimes having th the highest margin you can have as a business doesn't bode well for your customers. Will they ever change? Probably not. I agree with you there. If anyone thinks SS isn't taking notice to $750 dollar statues selling out in less then 24 hours time then they are extremely nieve. They know.. now what they choose to do with that info. Well the future will tell

Hahah oh okay, yup makes more sense :slap:lol

I didn't think people would go that crazy. I mean people are crazy, but over a statue, damn I'll never underestimate man again haha.

The main problem is , how would you define a QC problem if you were a QC guy. I'll give you two examples. There is some paint bleed on a couple of lines of Statue A. This means that the QC guys have to check all 3000 statues THEN determine what's bad and whats not. I can tell you now 75% of collectors would see a problem where normal people wouldn't. Normal people would be like "oh look a cool statue" and a collector would say " my pipe on his back has 4 silver lines missing"

Another thing, let's say the base is a bit tight. That means setting up and packing away 3000 statues! It's just never going to happen.

All you can do is hope they got it right and hope you get a good one.

it does look like the pf head, but why would it be there? It's not the GG's best take on Wolverine for sure, but if it were altered to a rage face, it could look great with a Brown/Tan Wolverine? I hope the SS version will be fully sculpted. I really can't afford too many of these XM pieces. I think paying more than twice the cost of a regular SS 1/4 piece is too much and I am only willing to do it on a few select characters.

Man, a QC guy should have to know what is called an "error" and what is not!:) This is his job and he is not an ordinary man who is outside the world of collecting:) Sideshow or whatever company hires them for a particular job so they are not aliens from MARS:)

I'm with you on that. I figure for every 20 statues XM makes, maybe I order one or two of just essential characters I want. I think Wolverine for now and MAYBE a Phoenix if they go through with that...

I think you're making it sound harder than it is. A company can remove the guess work by using the prototype as the standard. All the QC person has to do is compare a production piece with the prototype. If the production piece does not look like the prototype, then it's a bad piece. And it's also better to check QC during the "build" process rather then waiting until a whole batch is completed.

Assuming each production piece is painted by hand, I would have one QC person per ten paint app person. Each paint app person would have a perfect prototype to use as an example. When a production piece is fully painted it is put together and the QC person checks for fit and paint accuracy by comparing to the prototype. The QC person can have a rotation to spot check each paint app person in his pod.

If you're already painting it by hand it's not going to take that much more time putting it together. It also doesn't take long to check QC if you have a perfect prototype to compare to.
