Re: Current discount codes at SSC and other stuff that has nothing to do with codes

I've tried it on several items including one of the shirts, and to this point, no luck.

Ever hear of "no rain checks?"

SSC's coupon and reward policy is much better than most stores and guess what? They don't have to offer any coupons or rewards at all. They're gifts, freebies. I can't imagine in what world someone could possibly think that SSC is screwing anyone with their policy on discount codes they don't have to provide in the first place. I'm sure some people will argue that they should be able to apply a code to a purchase they made two years ago.

The R2 is probably a much smaller run because SSC is a smaller company. Hot Toys prints so many of everything it's hard to not get one if you want it.

Edition size has nothing to do with company size, and it's my understanding that Sideshow is much bigger than Hot Toys - and I'm sure they do much higher annual revenue and profits. But again, that doesn't really have any bearing on edition sizes nor discount codes.

I called customer service and gave them feedback.
They said they couldn't edit an order currently and add codes, even though I asked.

Cancel the order and re-order. That's what most stores will make you do. Even Home Depot.

People are now blaming SSC for their own impatience. I can't believe it.

Customers are entitled to everything!

It bothers me because folks are willing to eat **** sandwiches served all day by their governments (and other things that really matter) and when it comes to the generosity of businesses they feel so extremely entitled and express it quite vocally sometimes.

So if you have a PO processing and you add a code to your promo wallet, will it apply it when you pay, or how does that work?

No you have to add codes when you actually order the item. Codes cannot be added to existing orders.

So the wallet is fairly pointless.
Codes are only worth something if they happen to be active at the time that you PO.

If an item is still in stock and you have not paid a NRD and you have not made any payments you could cancel and reorder with a code. That is all you can do on existing orders though.

Good to know.

The wallet is just that, a container. It's as useful as a regular physical wallet. It's a place to hold your codes so you don't have to keep them in an email or other list where you're apt to lose them before using them. Some codes last for the duration of the year, so it's nice to have them listed in one location where you can easily click to browse applicable merchandise and easily click again to apply the discount.

Yes, and that's not that useful when I have a pen and a piece of paper. It would be useful if the code automatically applied to any outstanding order if it was in the time period when it was available. I see no reason why it shouldn't work that way.

SSC is basically screwing the people who pay them early with an NRD, vs the people who wait around for codes.
Another reason to hate NRDs or just shop elsewhere.
I'm sure SSC doesn't care, as they are constantly trying to hype impulse buys, (In a market of consumers prone to impulse buys) but it's something to think about.

The benefits to NOT having a PO at Sideshow outweigh the benefit of having one.
I could keep my money til release (Money that I can't get back btw), save 20 bucks, and still get the item.

They print so many of these damn things now it's never going to sell out, so missing out isn't really a concern. Even the exclusives usually convert.

Agree. Even if the code is not applied automatically, at least have a button asking if you would like to use a code in your wallet. Or at the very least have your wallet present and visible in the order page, so you can copy and paste the code from your wallet to add to the code field.

But yeah, Gakken. Many times it's better to wait and shop around before jumping into a PO. Things have changed in the 6 years I've been collecting from Sideshow. POs for exclusives would sell out in minutes sometimes. Most of the times POs for ex's would sell out in a few days to a week, so it was in your best interest to jump on them right away. Now Ex's stick around till right before the items ship, and sometimes beyond. And now the $20 codes have become routine, one a month.

But ultimately it's still a gamble. The 1/6 Ex R2s have all sold out within a day or two of the newest eligible code being available. I'm not familiar with statues and such, so I don't know if those tend to sell out faster.

I don't think Sideshow is intentionally screwing with early purchasers. Some people want to be assured that they get the piece. And believe it or not, some collectors out there don't mind missing out on $20 when they're already spending $500+ on stuff!

Well I'm mostly talking about Hot Toys, as that's all I buy from SSC.

I basically said, in a nice way, it would be good for the people who give you money up front to be able to get in on the savings.

He said others had called in with similar comments and he would pass it along.

I have basically gotten a figure from SSC over the last year from free codes if you add them all up, so i agree they are really screwing us over :lol

I wouldn't say they are screwing us intentionally. But screwed is still screwed.
More of an oversight.

So many choices to buy toys these days. Make it easy on me to give you my money for worthless plastic or I'll go elsewhere haha.

WTF?! :slap

Yeah! How dare SS offer monthly discount coupons... It's a bloody disgrace!
