These figures are such a let down and a wasted opportunity....

They have ZERO paint details. Playmates should be embarrassed :slap

Was this so hard to do or asking too much? :dunno

Prototype on the left (which still has better paint than the final product) and a repainted version with green around the eyes and spots.

They have no paint...not even their finger nails!!! How cheap is that?!!! Even the movie figure from TMNT2 from 20 years ago had better paint!! They even painted the green skin around the eyes, nails and spots unlike the overpriced piece of **** Playmates wants to sell now for $20 dollars :gah:

Yea, didn't the original prototype come with the spots too on the skin? This is a disappointment.

Sort of want the 90s movie figures but the lack of paint detail to make them more film accurate is disappointing. I've also heard some people are having issues with the articulation and the joints being really tight. Leo's expression is sorta derpy too. :lol

I bought all 4 turtles from TRU and every frickin one had no articulation in the right shoulder. Leo and mike has poor articulation in both shoulders. I'm really starting to hate these. Only really like how mike and Raph look. I'll pimp some out and see if they look good.

They look just like the classic figs? Maybe a talented repaint could do them a bit more justice.

They are brand new sculpts. Everything is new, the arms, legs, shell, weapons, and even the hands and feet. I have no problem with the sculpts, it's the lack of paint that bothers me after Playmates said their goal was to make accurate representations of the Jim Henson costumes and that they were going to look realistic.

I think the figures are a total upgrade from the previous classics in terms of sculpt and plastic quality but they are totally crap painted for sure. I'll probably pick up a second set to try my hand at adding spots and washes

Yea, the paint job is lacking, and the faces are sorta cartoony. I would love to see you as well as other people customize them, too bad I suck at painting.

Passed on the '90s movie figures as well. I bought Raph and Leo with the intention of completing the set by going to a different TRU, but ended up returning them for a refund. It's bad enough they didn't paint the toe and fingernails, but they didn't even keep the yellow highlights? Whether they used drybrush or airbrush, it easily could've been done on a mass-market figure. Just not worth the $20.

So I was reading up on the NECA comic based figures and discovered there's apparently a bootleg set of them being sold. I believe I found a couple sets on eBay and they seem decent but does anyone have them? Are they actually worth paying for or not really?

To be totally honest, these are some of the best bootlegs I've ever seen. There are some that missed quality control, but I bought multiple sets for custlomizing. To the untrained eye, they look identical to the legit necas. Only differences are bootlegs have slightly arched feet, blue-green shell, harder plastic bandannas and front shells. For the price, they are pretty worth it.

Are you referring to the ones with multi-colored masks? I've seen those but no idea were they come from.
Yeah those were the ones I saw. I think they're from China, I saw a couple sets of all four Turtles for like $60 or so. Seems like a good deal but almost too good to be true so I question their quality.

the "movie inspired" ones are ok, but only ok. about what i expected. i'll stick to my toon turtles. NEVER did find Rocksteady or Bebop. CAN'T WAIT FOR SHREDDER!

They're great figures! Sure the paint could be better, but ehh.. what'ya do.

Raph looks the best face wise, but I think I'll nab Mike when I see them around - then my disparate set of the four guys (across different lines) will be complete.

Can't wait to see a set custom painted. That dude who killed it with the new movie figs should get on it.
