Definitely not bothering with any of these.

I can see them being useful to store away the new armors, just like the movie, I thought about surrounding the original 7 Bays with these as a possible display idea, but in terms of value I dont see these things being worth it.....

and no clear plastic front is a deal breaker

Yeah exactly. If I ever choose to buy hall of armor, it'll be the other ones. It's a cool idea to replicate the movie, but they should've used plastic. I don't want to put my $300 collectibles in styrofoam, lol

Re: 1/6 - Hot Toys - IM3 - Hall of Armor (House Party Protocol Ver.) - Spec + Pic

Now that we know they're styrofoam, I really hope HT did the math on the structural integrity of these things stacked up like that.

If you are going to stack them, i'd put some tape across the tops of the first row before adding the second row.

Not super strong tape though. Wouldn't want to damage the styrofoam

When I connect mine I will use double face tape on the sides of the triangle and on the interlocking square tabs on the top.

I did notice in the review video that they seemed to have a lot of friction when he stacked 2 units.

People have been complaining about the price of the original WSHOA and you only have to buy 7 of those. A lot of people on this forum have started that those are only worth $60

I'm sure there would be even more complaining if HT made these of plastic and charged a comparable price, considering that some people will want to buy 42 of them.

The others are definitely overpriced. These styrofoam ones should be like $30 IMO

Re: 1/6 - Hot Toys - IM3 - Hall of Armor (House Party Protocol Ver.) - Spec + Pic

Personally, it is all going to depend on what the final price for these are. For those who have experience with styrofoam, is there any type of paint that can be used on these? I really just do not like the cheap obviously styrofoam look to them. Could I plasti-dip them maybe? These may be stupid questions, but if these things are priced right I may get some and try to modify them a bit to look a little less cheap.

Most paint will eat through it, you can use alcohol free acrylic paint, folkart or something similar

Re: 1/6 - Hot Toys - IM3 - Hall of Armor (House Party Protocol Ver.) - Spec + Pic

Anyone else think this has a concrete look. It's almost like they want it to look like they poured concrete to make the hall and then installed the electronics into the concrete. Which the Hot Toys WCHOA replicates nicely.

If you can removed the electronics it would be easy to spray these to get a concrete look.

I also noticed that each unit is separated by a thin vertical section. This will make attaching the units simple since this part could be made of a structural material

It would be nice to know if the layers are separated of if the lower and upper unit share the same structural member in a ceiling/floor arrangement

most spray paints will eat the foam though,

And the foam doesnt quite achieve an accurate concrete look, its just HT's trying to lower costs. if it could be sprayed over then they should do that

Re: 1/6 - Hot Toys - IM3 - Hall of Armor (House Party Protocol Ver.) - Spec + Pic

I can spray any kind of paint with my equipment and there are many that achieve the look of concrete when sprayed.

onto styrofoam? what kind of paint are you using? most paints eat away at stryrofoam

Re: 1/6 - Hot Toys - IM3 - Hall of Armor (House Party Protocol Ver.) - Spec + Pic

You mentioned them yourself. There are latex and acrylic paints that can be sprayed on foam.

I'm already making plans to replace my computer desk / War Machine cabinet with a new display that will consist of the following elements

Tony's work shop with the 7 unit HOA in the background, sitting on top of a 2 level wine cellar unit

Each level should be able to fit 9 bays so I can have 18 armors below and 7 up top.

I'm not into repaints so I should be able to display most of the armors I want and by having Starks work shop I will be able to fit Igor in their somewhere.

This will also be my new computer desk. The floor between the shop and the wine cellar will be a drawer that pulls out with a flip up monitor, key board and mouse.

Re: 1/6 - Hot Toys - IM3 - Hall of Armor (House Party Protocol Ver.) - Spec + Pic

So I assume youd be airbrushing? I was just trying to clarify, as the paint I know of are brush on craft paints and a pain in the ass to run through an airbrush (as their alcohol free). was just wondering if you had a brand I wasnt aware of, will need to do some research

Re: 1/6 - Hot Toys - IM3 - Hall of Armor (House Party Protocol Ver.) - Spec + Pic

Nothing so small

I have equipment that I paint cabinets and furniture with that can spray even the heaviest latex paints.
