Yes, everyone is overlooking this point. HT has the balls to do it, even if it doesn't work out so well or falls apart after a year.

Or few weeks... whatever :lol

If they make him out of rubber then yes.

He loves the idea, probably just not the thought of all the upcoming HT threads and fanboys.

.. the feeling may be mutual.. better than endless discussions about Onanism, no? :lol

Cancelled Sideshow Jango and R2.

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Scale Figures from Episode I - VII Announcemen

I'm not sure how this makes a difference between the 2 companies. SS has made all the big hitters already. They got the money at the time. If I choose to upgrade, SS isn't losing money. We knew all along HT would only do main characters over. Nobody (realistically) should be expecting HT to do a Yavin Luke or Bouschh Leia. And to be honest, I don't see HT putting the resources into a Walrusman, Royal Guard, or a generic Hoth Trooper. HT makes a sweet Farmboy Luke, I'm buying. When SS finally makes a Walrusman, I'm buying. They aren't stepping on each others toes, and we win. I can't think of 1 character that SS hasn't done yet, that HT will come out with (at the same time) to make us choose, so that SS actually loses sales. SS will be fine.

I sure hope I get that promotion...I'm going to need the extra $$$.

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Scale Figures from Episode I - VII Announcemen

Oh god, yes. I've never even considered 1/4 but if HT is on the field for that...how can I resist to a 1/4 Vader?!?

Ah, got it. I don't think it'll be a problem, personally. I like the Marvel section and it's all HT all the time. Peoples' expectations seem to be pretty realistic, for the most part.

Yeah, I was debating cancelling ol' R2, but for $150.00, I'm sure it'll be a cool release. Who knows when HT's will come out.

Just did exactly the same thing. Keeping clones though, SSC does a good job with them and I doubt HT will do all the ones they did/are doing.

First the world now Hot Toys will rule the universe!

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Scale Figures from Episode I - VII Announcemen

Yep. Here comes the big preorder fallout of SS 1/6!

Seems a bit premature.. HT may not actually release an R2 or Jango for a considerable period, entirely possible given HT's schedule (unless they are intending to massively ramp up production capability) ..and can we guarantee a HT version will be that much of an improvement over the announced Sideshow figure?

Surely the main reason for cancelling an R2 pre-order, is if you do not think the figure will be made.. and at the moment I do not see why that would be the case.
:dunno

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Scale Figures from Episode I - VII Announcemen

This will have an impact. People will be hesitant to PO new SS stuff waiting for HT annoucements

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Scale Figures from Episode I - VII Announcemen

I think people are jumping the gun definitely.

Sideshow really needs to get ahead of this in order to prevent mass hysteria.

SDCC pics of Marty McFly and new ALIENS figures are starting to pop up. I'm just waiting for someone to post pics of HT Han....

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Scale Figures from Episode I - VII Announcemen

Just kind of jumping into the discussion so I apologize if this has been said 100 times.

SSC created their own doubt with consumers in their providing future product by releasing clone after clone, etc. with only a light sprinkling of non-clone characters. Up until this point they have shown no signs of other deep catalog figures that were promised and could have very well been released. I'll give you that they probably wouldn't look as good now as they would if they were released five years ago but that's always the case. Better technologies = better looking products (in most cases). I can speak for myself in that I would have been completely happy to get a TIE Pilot or Scout Trooper and Speeder Bike five years ago and not feel the need to upgrade.

I feel that their announcing long sought-after figures that should have already been made just screams of desperation.

.. because Hot Toys figures will be cheaper?.. considering the systematic bashing Hot Toys (and their 'fanboys') take over pricing on this Forum, it will be rather ironic if there is a stampede out of Sideshow Star Wars Pre-orders.. just because Hot Toys might announce a figure at some unspecified point in the future.. because its equally possible HT might not.. and even if they do, the infamous HT price accelerator will almost certainly have kicked in.

Be careful what you wish for, just saying...

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Scale Figures from Episode I - VII Announcemen

I disagree... I think just like releasing Hoth last year and a bunch of Jabba stuff early on, Sideshow is following their own pace at which they want to release figures. We had mostly standard body figures for a long time, then in a relatively short period of time got droids, Gamorrean Guards and other stuff that had been sought after, but wasn't released until Sideshow felt ready.

I don't think the figures from this year's SDCC have anything to do with desperation or getting out ahead of HT. They are already way ahead as they've had the license for nearly a decade and released almost all of the major wants.

Re: Hot Toys - STAR WARS 1/6th & 1/4th Scale Figures from Episode I - VII Announcemen

people may come back down to Earth and not jump off the SSC Ship once they realize HT's 1:6 Vader is going to be $350- $400 alone, or $750 -$850 with full scale Meditation chamber. 1:6 scale C-3P0 from them will be at least $400. Stormies at least $250 for a basic, etc.

I do want a HT stormie, though. Aint gonna lie.
