re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

Two of those were spoken by BEARS, not mooseses! :thwak

My wife will watch what I want, when I want! And yes, you do have a little "head."

Moose, bear. Both are furry and brown. And not talking about porn stars.

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

I refuse to acknowledge anything but the two-pack price. That way I can rationalize, in a vague, mathless way.

I'll admit that the Groot price isn't bad for the level of detail and size of the figure as long as he isn't made of rubber that starts rotting after two weeks. I just think Rocket at $160 is kind of crazy for what you get. Yeah, he looks cool, but he's a tiny little figure. I've got a bunch of 6" MonsterArts figures with unique sculpting and more articulation that look just as nice and they were only about $60.

It seems like Hot Toys and Sideshow as their distributor just keep following this pattern of gouging their customers more and more. They test the waters with releases like the new Bank Robber Joker and Ancient Predator for the cons by charging super high prices and once they get people to buy into those kind of releases, that price becomes the new standard. It doesn't feel very good being a long time customer when I see some of the tactics they use and how customers fall for it. It kind of sucks.

Rocket Raccoon is $159.99 just by himself on Sideshow.

It's ridiculous. Although the two pack with Groot isn't too bad considering the size of Groot. Still haven't pulled the trigger.

I'm craving a menage with Hermione and Luna. Not too sure why.

Hermoine and Ginny for me.

Daniel Radcliffe for me fellas.

I'd be ass raping him all night long. Then all day too. ;)

I can't disagree with anything you're saying. Especially considering you (and many others) just bought an ED with the (extremely rational) assumption that HT would have improved the quality for such a high profile release. At the same time, Sideshow prices are also getting steeper and I feel like, in general, I can expect a greater level of quality from HT than I can from Sideshow. So if SSC Yoda was $100, and HT Rocket is $160....I think they are both over-priced. But I have less of a problem with Rocket because IMO the final product will be more satisfying in general.

When it comes to figures that involve questionable materials, that's a different topic. HT continues to use rubbers that they know are time bombs. That's inexcusable at their prices. But they are insulated from reality - people complain and complain, and buy and buy.

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

I also love GOT but as it's an epic narrative no one season has stood out to me.

True Detective gave me the feeling of reading a novel. I loved the whodunnit aspect but fell in love with the characters and I found the ending (in regards to the characters) incredibly ballsy and anti-trendy. I was really moved by those guys.

I got to the point with TD where I didn't care who did it. I was so wrapped up with what was going on with Rust and Marty. To me that was the real story. Everything else was just background.

"Park's closed. Moose out front should have told ya"

"Only you can prevent forest fires."

"Ohh a picnic basket."

See, this is why I need to pony up the $25 so I can rep you. Bravo sir.

Hey, I wish I could play piano. We get one hand and make it work, or don't. Seems like most of us are workin' it. :duff

My hand is too busy jacking off to do anything meaningful with my life. I'm being totally serious. I put all my focus and energy in life in the wrong things and I feel like I'm wasting my time, but the kicker is that I can't stop. I'm addicted to habit and comfort.

I sort of feel like writing a huge explanation about why that Rocket Raccoon figure is ridiculously priced, but I don't know if I have the energy.

I'll sum it up for you. It is because they can and they will. Blame the consumers not the company.

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

That's awesome! I love gifs where you can barely tell where it ends and starts again...

You would know. :lecture
I expected this response from Waller, NOT you!
Kenbenobi :thwak furystorm

I'll sum it up for you. It is because they can and they will. Blame the consumers not the company.
I blame both! :lecture

I decided I won't get any Sideshow SW 12" that Hasbro already did. Sure, Hasbro didn't do as well. But dammit, they were cheap, and for the most part they looked OK and had decent clothing. Thus, I'm canceling my Hoth figures. But I may still get the probot...

I hear you. Lately I've been trying to live by a new motto - do the hard thing. With every choice, choose the more difficult option. I don't do it half the time, but half the time I do. That's better than before. :dunno

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

Five years ago I started working very hard and very diligently to change my life direction in a positive direction, to become a radiation therapist. And every time I was beaten down, I got back up and tried a little harder...

But I always had time to jerk off! :lecture

Also, I saw Ken blow Waller at CVI. That's how I knew he knew I knew he tasted a small head. ;)

I can agree with that. Sideshow's pushing their prices up all the time as well and their quality isn't quite on par with what Hot Toys is doing. The whole 1/6 licensed figure world seems to be going a bit crazy as of late and it's very rare that I find a pre-order that I feel is truly worth the asking price. A few exceptions would be R2-D2, Snake Plissken, and the new Elder Predator from Predator 2. Their prices seem about right. That Yoda comes with a lot more stuff than Rocket, but you are right, he'll be a superior figure. For me, personally, I know if I have that raccoon in my hand and I'm honest with myself, I won't feel like I got my $160 worth. If he was even $80 to $100, it might be different.

I'll sum it up for you. It is because they can and they will. Blame the consumers not the company.

I know what you mean. I don't want to rain on anybody's parade, but for me personally, it's getting a bit out of hand and I feel like I'd be allowing myself to be ripped off if I pay the full asking price for these figures. I always look for coupons or deals these days. The last couple figures I've bought through board members for super discounted prices after they bought something and changed their minds about it.

The bottom line is that if people keep paying their asking prices, they'll keep going up. I'm just curious if they're ever going to hit a point where enough people say they've had enough and they're not going to pay that much for a 1/6 figure anymore. I mean, if standard 1/6 figures are $300? If they reach $400? Will there really be enough people buying them at that price to keep it going? It's kind of fascinating, actually.

I've just made a lot of really bad choices in my life and have stuck to the high road since so I don't **** anything else up. I guess it's working?

People will keep buying it and the prices will continue to climb. One thing I've noticed in my years of being in the collecting community, collectors come and go. Some get caught in the hype, buy like crazy and then are over it and lucky to get out with half of what they spent. Others are life long collectors that are passionate and truly will pay whatever it takes for something they truly appreciate. There's enough collectors to keep the cycle going for a long time.

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

That's great!...."They're all right"...:lol

Yeah, fawk those Revoltechs. Their whole gimmick is that the articulation is made up of giant, obtrusive balls. I got those for free.
How much articulation do your giant, obtrusive balls have?!?!?!?
Knowing the hotel industry, those bedspreads are still being used today! And may have never been cleaned...
No doubt. Sleeping on the floor is probably much cleaner and safer in any hotel room.

Rocket Raccoon is $159.99 just by himself on Sideshow.

Fawk that!

Price isn't really that bad when you look into the amount of detail and thought on the figure itself. He's worth the price especially Groot.

Shill.

I'm three episodes in. If that spoiled anything.

But it's my own fault for taking so long to watch it.

It spoils everything. You're gonna freak the fawk out though when he grows antlers in the show, even though you already know its gonna happen.

True Detective. It rocks hard. :rock
Hard it rocks :rock
Your's is better because it doesn't make mcconaughey look like a deer in headlights.
YoNoSe should do some nudes :naughty

I love that the new season will be its own separate thing with a new cast. The first season was probably the best season of any show I've ever seen. I wouldn't want them to ruin its perfection.
Its worked great for AHS. I really dig the serial seasons thing they did, I look forward to see how TD handles it.

Game of Thrones was a good one but no other show has affected me mentally and emotionally like True Detective.

The two can't be compared. Both amazing but for entirely different reasons.

Same here. The character development was second to none and the slow, but edge of your seat pace of the show felt like a well written novel.
Daniel Radcliffe for me fellas.

Sounds gay.

Works every time.

I need to suggest this new motto to the wife.

EVERYTHING is the hobby has gone up. Browsing through Big Bad Toy Store is like a kick in the ****. Stuff that was $25 a couple years ago is $50, things that were around $65-$80 are up around $120. Diecast cars that use to run $60 are $160. Its fawking insanity. Everything is across the board is increasing exponentially.

I'm watching movies ALL weekend.....and I have time to jerk off! :rock

I always make time for that. Its like eating or brushing your teeth. No matter how busy you are there is always enough time to stop down and give your little man a rub and tug :lecture

Yay for a great weekend King!!!!

I dunno how I feel about the female Thor Disney Princess, Mike. Feels all funny inside. :(

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

I was doing some checking into Marvel lore on Thor.. there was a Thor Girl in a story line about 14 years ago.. this sounds a lot like Marvel may be resurrecting that character (Tarene / Tara Olsen).
