lol, I was actually thinking bongos... :monkey1

Just throwing the question out there, I don't have any pf's yet so the costuming stuff is all new

Omnibus volume 1 is a good start for sure. Im liking the new Gail Simone's so far as well, Red Sonja Volume 1: Queen of the Plagues. I cant wait for volume 2!!

Thanks! Will deff check the new run as well :)

Looks to me like they might have drawn inspiration from a couple other covers as well, found these the other day-

^the sword on this cover looks right on, gore and all

A barbarian/warrior holding up a freshly severed head isn't really a rare or specific inspiration :)

lol, guessing you missed the last 20 pages of debate over the PF's divergences from the Dynamite #53b cover art. This Savage cover has more of a victory pose, Sonya's stance more upright with her looking upward and her sword off to her right like the PF- something a lot of people seemed upset about (that it was changed from the cover). I haven't read the entirety of the comic, but the PF and that second cover are the only places so far I've seen that particular sword, and both bloodied- I could be wrong though :wave

I would guess the designer studied all the cover art with Sonya holding a severed head and took bits from each

Yeah I saw it .... wasn't sure why it warranted such a huge discussion though ....I agree, like most statues, its a combination of various pics/scenes/ideas...

A fellow ( Dr. Balls ) over on the CGC boards just posted his latest Red Sonja pick up
Very nice painting from the 80s ! mayoredsonja.jpg
Would look very nice as a statue :)

Looks like something you'd see painted on the side of a skeevy van back in the 80's... :lol
