I think what really bothers some people is the idea that there's a "new and improved" version of a figure they already own, or a character that they like, and as result, they feel like they might have to get the new version, thus falling into that never ending cycle of buying and reselling the same figure....even if they lose money in the process. All because what they have is never good enough...

See I thought I would be one of those people, but I am finding now that re-releases and revamps do not bother me.... at least for certain characters. Like I thought I would hate my Avengers Thor once the new one came out... but I am actually impartial and am ok with the fact that there are new and improved ones out there. If I had the previous bank robber joker I wouldn't be rushing to update it. I am thrilled they are making it though because it makes it available for someone like me who got into the game long after Bank Robber Joker came out.

I don't get all the hate or why people are annoyed If you are not interested in a figure, then what's the big deal if other people like it? People love Iron Man, doesn't bother me. They can make a million of those things, it's money I can save. Also, it's a business, if you own a store or a restaurant, and you know an item sells and makes you money, why wouldn't you make more of it? It's logical. I think it would be better if HT would reissue older figures instead of new versions of the older MMS, but that's just me. Also, if people already have the first figure, what does it matter if they make a new version? You've got one already

exactly! my feeling always has been the happy customers FAR FAR FAR outweigh the miserable people. Just on here, you get a certain group of people that come here just to complain about things and post over and over and over their same complaints. But most of these releases sell out, which means these figures are loved by many, thousands and thousands of people. Just gotta try and not get bothered by the negativity. its hard because thats mostly what you get on here, but in the big picture, people love to collect these figures and enjoy them.

This was my stance on diecast. I'm of the opinion that a lot of the people upset about the diecast releases are in actuality worried that their rare MKIII MKIV MKVI MKVII will be released in diecast so the silly hierarchy of collectors will be diminished when their "rare" figures are released with updated materials and new and improved figures.

I've learned to be happy with what I have. HT made the 89 joker (mime costume) and the head sculpt looks better than the first version, but I'm happy with the one I own....I'm lying, IT'S KILLING ME INSIDE!!! I WANT IT!! ...Sorry, but I won't get it because I have one already and it looks great Oh...and Mark III is in the works, so it will come out eventually.

And what's worse is anyone that had hugely inflated expectations that the TF releases would be anything earth shattering or brand new. I look at them kind of like bonus figures that you either like or you don't. They are exclusives, all of which were or are still shelf warmers (last year.) I was kind of disappointed in last years releases but I wasn't angry or heartbroken by them. HT saw that last year's figures were a bust so they went back to the money makers. Who can fault them for that?

Wouldn't it be the same when you come and post your unconditional love for all things TDK made by HT over and over and over with zero logic whatsoever?

Your only argument is "I love TDK". That's it. Over and over and over again.

Collectors can be annoyed if they want to, it's a discussion board. Look Pirate, I got nothing against you personally (don't even know you) and you've never offended me. However, as petty as it may be, your hype and over enthusiasm does bug the hell out of me. You say you're annoyed with the folks that are being negative nellies, well I'm annoyed with overzealous and fanatical collectors. Not going to lie, I log on, see this thread "Oh wow, look another Ledger Joker!!11!!", "hope it's this", "hope it's that", "custom Nolan Batman!", "TDK Trilogy", "TDK Trilogy"! Rah, rah!" and it's extremely grating. Now I definitely feel justified in how I felt the other day in the armory thread.

This **** was fun as hell back in 2008 and 2009, it was amazing. But after thinking about all the releases, DX, MMS, the speculation, the lists, the diagrams, the photoshops, the customs, kato suits, $1000 artist heads, etc. it's like, when will it ever be enough? I've talked about it with other people on here and they agree that it's extremely hard to appreciate and enjoy any of this when it's constantly blasted in your face. In the span of 6 years, there's been a plethora of product. This isn't just about "boo hoo, Hot Toys announces BTTF, Returns, or whatever, and yet they just keep making the same thing!" It's this repetitive, vehement feeling of ADD kids that are on a lifetime sugar high.

If it had been any other Nolan character that hasn't been done, sure I'd be ecstatic. But the 5th figure in 6 years of the same dude, that's not even Nurse? C'mon. It shouldn't be surprising why other collectors have this piss off mentality, especially those that have a wide interest in other lines that this company has the license rights to. Sure, we get that "hey, they sell and there is a certain part of this community that will always be head over heels about it" that doesn't mean we have to like it and can't ***** and mock it. People do it with Iron Man all the time so this should be fair game.

And that's the part that doesn't make sense. Is it reasonable to be frustrated that other figures you want haven't been released yet while another release of this character is teased to be this year's TF? Definitely. But you say it's extremely grating to you to read about all the enthusiasm others have for this figure....what did you expect when you click on a post titled "Hot Toys - Toy Fairs Exclusive 2014 - Bank Robber Joker 2.0 ?", to read some news that is pleasing to you? You know it's going to annoy/grate on you, and you do it to yourself anyway.

It's not even about expressing a negative opinion in this thread. Nothing's wrong with that. Like I said before, everyone has a right to their opinions, pro or con. It's about "hey this thing upsets me, I recognize it upsets me, and I'm going to get into it anyway". If something annoys you that much, continuing to willingly expose yourself to it is just not healthy, for your own sake.

My opinion:

I've grown to accept these things as they are, not how I would want them to be. I used to be the guy who said "**** Iron Man" in the Returns and Arkham City threads. Now? It's just pointless. I didn't ***** about what Kenner and Hasbro made when I was a kid, so, why am I *****ing about this stuff as an adult? In some ways, it's almost like we regressed. HT wants to make a Joker, I'm not stopping them. Hell, if it's good enough, I might even buy it, since I don't have one right now, but it's one of those things where I feel we need to remember that these are toys. If someone wants to spend $1000 on a custom head, or even $2K on a custom head, or $500 on a suit, or $10K on a life-size figure, why should that bother me? To quote the great Ulla Inga Hansen Benson Yansen Tallen Hallen Svaden Swanson, "when you've got it, flaunt it."

Stop taking things so seriously, is what I'm getting at. Appreciate what you do have, enjoy the hobby, and don't worry so much about what other people think.

Yeah, Magic, you're right.

I've actually been thinking of taking a break from this. It's just not fun to me anymore like it used to be. It feels like the whole thing reached it's peak last year.

Wasn't much else to be said to that was there. I wanted to lay it all down aswell today but I could see the counterarguments before they'd happen, among which would have been points I couldn't deny. I would have been forced to come to the same decision.

I think they are beating to death the Batman Nolan Franchise, how many Jokers have hot toys now produced? I would rather it be 1/4 but I think thats a stretch. Why can't we get anything new ?

Yeah, I already knew what the responses and counters would be. I've been at this point before, just not to this extent. That's why I've been deleting my posts. I dunno, it just bums me out a bit because it feels like it's hit critical mass overload.

Hope it's 1/4 but highly doubt it. Wouldn't make much business sense for HT to make it an exclusive.
