As is the vintage figures in the classics. As in I assumed you'd want Ram Man over Optikk or Bow, ya dig?

Yeah - it's funny you mention Ram-Man, because he as well as Ninjor are all I really want now.. then I'm more than done.
FYI - I currently own the big four only; He-Man, Man-At-Arms, Skeletor, & Mer-Man.
Ninjor isn't exactly OG.. but those six in a display facing off each other, is a small focus collection that I'll be more than chuffed with.

AGREED! 4 Horseman nailed this figure.(well they done justice to MANY MOTU'S in this line) Ram Man is easily in my top 10 of the line

I think the most I've paid for one figure so far, is a bit over $50 Aussie - including shipping.
I was pretty keen on Faker, Man-E-Faces & Roboto for a good long while, but I went cold on them.
My original plan was to get all the figures I had as a kid; He-Man, Buzz-Off, Man-E-Faces, Tri-Klops, Clawful etc - but I don't have the same attachment to some of those characters anymore, so I just want a few of the main guys - maybe even the Wind Raider at some stage.. it's all expensive in the end I know.

Yeah, they'll put them up on Matty for actual sale sometime after SDCC.

Agreed. There are maybe 10 to 15 rare figures in this line. Other than that you are lucky if you get back what you paid. I collected from He-Man and Beastman all the way till June 2012. I got out after the Voltron disaster. I've been able to move most of them but I think I'll take Count Marzo, Catra and Dragon Blaster Skeletor to my grave.

Some people were less than happy with the final product. I actually really love mine, but the spring loaded legs are still annoying. I think he looks great on display, though.

Jon is right. If you ever watched the review on Youtube by Mike from Retroblasting were he just goes on a tirade about his disappointment about the Lions and Voltron in general that sums up my view. If you received Voltron and he was everyhting you expected then you got a great toy. I was expecting an Adult Collectible, like it said on the packaging. That is not what I received. From the pilots to the Lions themselves to when he was fully assembled, just a big disappointment. I think about how I felt back then and it just makes me sad then angry then ultimately disappointed. It's a good thing Toynami got the license back so we can get actual Adult Collectibles of Voltron. Won't be fooled again.

Not to go too far off topic, but I think you hit the nail on the head. The Voltron toys felt like something made more retail, frankly. Putting the action gimmicks in was very weird for high-priced adult collectables. People also objected to the color choices and styling versus the chromed/metallic look you get with a lot of Voltrons. I think, for me, I kind of knew what I was getting into from the get-go and had already worked through some of the annoyance that they didn't go that route before I got mine. And I really liked the little figures and the way they go inside the lions. He's just such a huge chunk of toy, too. So I have a lot of fun with him, but I can see why a lot of people just weren't into it.

Agreed. I guess my expectations were too in line with say what Toynami had made mixed with MOTUC. This Voltron was neither. What's funny about the Retroblasting review was that Mike reviewed each one individually as they were released. You can tell that they script what they are gonna say and it feels more polished than most YouTube video reviews. Not with the final Voltron video. It looked like he put Voltron together, got pissed at the final product, and had Melinda set up the camera were he voiced his disapproval. In the previous videos you could tell he was getting annoyed with each Lion release but the final complete Voltron was the straw that broke the camel's back.

As far as I'm concerned, Mattel just does not make quality the highest priority in the way they go about their products. The 4H are the ones who put the majority of the effort into these collectibles because they're true artists. The best decision Mattel ever made was going with these guys, and often when a figure fails to impress it's due to interference coming from the sub-par in-house team. What kind of sucks is that I don't see Mattel improving this brand because they don't seem to be willing to hone down the line to anything meaningful. Pop/NA generally do not go well with MOTU aside from some notable exceptions. Scott's Yankee Doodle philosophy that MOTU's appeal is random grab-bag of wackiness has helped make the brand a huge mess. I know there are plenty of fans who are of the same mind, but it's not one that could ever possibly elevate the franchise into something more appealing or profitable.
Right now, Takara Tomy's MP line is taking up my adult collector re envisioning itch. MOTUC has effectively run out of easy decisions and the slack that Mattel expects the 4H to pick up is just too great at this point. We have a metric ton of figures here, but noticeably inconsistent quality from one month to the other. In the end I feel like it would have been much more worthwhile if Mattel figured out a way to spread out the releases and focus on quality rather than sheer quantity. Then again, there was Voltron.
