Finally pulled the trigger on this badboy after much dilly dallying and still at retail... I must say maybe the only DX worthy of being a DX...Wow I'm blown away

This really is one hell of an impressive set, isn't it? It's a shame some of the other DX releases didn't follow in the same footsteps in terms of pack-ins.

My wife is a little hesitant to let me hang the weather vane from the roof via the screws lol. I'm still gonna do it and just face the consequences but if there is another way around it I'm all ears.
Would those 3M adhesive strips work?

They might, but they'll do more damage than screws because you'll probably need to use the permanent adhesive. When you peel it off it's going to bring the paint and possibly part of the plaster with it. If you can hit the bottom of a joist with longer and thin screws (you only need 2 of them), the hole size damage will be minimal and easily and discreetly filled if you ever want to take it down. It will also be a lot more secure.

The complete alternative to hanging is using the base that comes with it to place the whole thing on a shelf. But it does look very sweet hanging:

But it does look very sweet hanging:

Yeah, I think I wouldn't be doing it justice if I didn't hang it. I was looking at the 3M strips that have the little tabs that you pull on and they supposedly come away clean so long as you prep the area with a little rubbing alcohol first.

Hanging it off the ceiling is the absolute greatest way to go! It is the only hot toys figure that is out to brave the dust, but its well worth it! The weathervane looks perfect.

3m strips should work, just as long as there isn't too much humidity.

Are those good for overhead applications? I had a feeling they were only for vertical.

As did I but I thought I would see if any one had attempted it with any success.

I think I'll just use the screws and fix it later.

That is what I did as well, I only used one of the screws I did not use all of them... that may screw me later.

Whoever was responsible for engineering the weathervane is an absolute genius. The fact that the base ratchets for sloped ceilings is incredible! It allowed me to utilize space in my office that I typically would not.

It also lets you mount it on a wall. :)

Haha yeah but that would just plain look bad because of the arms sticking out. I am just happy that it is so versatile, they really nailed it. The Weathervane is so big but because it can hang from ceilings, etc it makes it a complete non issue. And also makes for a very dynamic display.

As far as the DX line goes this one is my favorite for sure. I really hope Hot Toys revisits Star Wars one day.

What I love about this set is the sensibility of the items packed into it. There are a ton of very usable parts, which, IMO, can be contrasted against Sideshow's recent Vader release.

Instead of two head sculpts or even two outfits and a single body, they include two complete figures with the correct amount of accessories and parts to display both in a versatile manner. The weather vane is very much an accessory and not just a "stand." Then you look at Sideshow's Vader that also seemingly comes with a ton of parts, yet it's easy to look at most of them and feel they're extraneous. Three heads if you include the empty mask. A ton of right hands. Multiple display bases. But those bases are nothing more than figure stands, one of them dedicated to an empty mask and helmet - this might as well be an entirely different product as it can't be posed with the figure in a diorama-like situation. There are only 3 left hands, arguably the most important hand for expressing action when the right hand would be holding the saber.

At the end of the day, when you compare prices, $300 for HT Luke and $250 for SS Vader, it's obvious to see where the better value is. Hot Toys has plenty of seemingly overpriced figures, but every now and then they put out a home-run value product. I feel the same way about the new Batman Armory 3 figure set comparatively - a lot of bang for your buck.

I agree, it really is one of the best value pieces I've purchased for my collection for a long while.

I also thought I was done collecting anymore Nolan Batman stuff (I have the EB Bats and Joker, the HT 1/4 Bats and the 2011 toy fair Begins fig to go with my HT Tumbler) but I will get the 3 fig Armory because it's great value.

Here's mine from the bottom of the shelf. Don't mind the holes in the wall, I missed the stud once and was too low.. Lmfao.

You guys need a stud finder. Just don't point it backwards or it will beep constantly. ;) Or maybe it won't beep and your feelings will be hurt.
