Android 17 whooooooooo! awesome! He does look touched up yeah, not bad. I wonder if he'll come with anything similar to Android 18's Krillin parts

I doubt theyre done with cell/android saga lol still so much more they can make like yamcha and tien and also cells other 2 forms, dr gero and 19 are possibilities and who knows maybe 16 too, tamashii nations could make him a chogokin jus look at franky from one piece they could make 16 pretty awesome if they did something similliar'ish

How does the DBZ fandom feel about DBZ Kai? Love it, Hate it?

I've watched the Saiyan saga, Frieza saga and Buu saga before the Kai remakes but I watched the entire Android and Cell Sagas in DBZ Kai. Is it worth rewatching?

Hey all! Long time lurker, first time poster. I've been reading this thread for a while now and thought I'd introduce myself and share some info. I am a huge fan of these figures and I'm pumped for the upcoming Android releases. The only ones I'm missing so far are Krillin, original Gohan and original Piccolo. I'll definitely be looking to get Krillin but likely will not get the other 2 as I like the coloring on the SDCC releases much better.

Also I'm looking to acquire Trunks so if anyone has a spare they are willing to part with, PM me!

I believe a little while back someone asked about differences between SDCC SS Goku vs the re-released version. Obviously the colors are different but I also noticed that the articulation at the shoulder is a little different. The re-release seems to have a slightly wider range of movement which allows him to, IMO, do more accurate looking Kamehameha poses. I'll post some pics later on of that comparison.

I read a bunch about the bootleg SS Vegeta and custom post time chamber SS Trunks head by Da Tong floating around taobao, eBay and now Amazon. I actually purchased the Vegeta off of eBay and received it yesterday. It is practically an exact copy of the original but there are a few differences. I'll post some comparison pics and go over those later too. I have an order for a few more Vegetas and a SS Trunks head as well. I plan on using the Vegetas for some customs later on.

Welcome to the forum man!! I would enjoy those comparison pics, and a collection pic, that is if that's not an inconvenience

(off topic of welcome lol)Also, I would like them to have die cast on Android 16 (that is if them make one) because he is an android and not a cyborg. I was also thinking that Broly could have like die cast shoes and jewelry to make him more worth the possible price (again, if they make one)

@) Silrian I'm right there with you! When I asked you guys what you're top 5 fights were, I wrote that was the best fight of the series, and my second favorite under the Majin Vegeta vs Goku fight, just because of the emotion behind it. My all time favorite fight moment is those few seconds where Goku makes those combinations of kicks and punches inside Piccolo's throat. I know you don't like KAI, but when I watch Dragon Ball and KAI together it feels like a complete story. The Boo arc feels like extra, but I'm glad, because it made me love Vegeta and Gohan. When I watched the original Dragon Ball Z, because of the way it's paced and the screen time shown with the other characters, it felt like a different story, and the Boo arc did feel necessary for Vegeta, but once I learned it's Goku's story, that changed. KAI follows the same tone and characterization from Dragon Ball. The Super Saiyan transformation was very reminiscent of how Goku acted in the King Piccolo saga, and the way he allowed Vegeta to go in the Saiyan saga, was reminiscent to how he let Piccolo go in the 23rd tournament saga. I'd say give it a shot, but I understand if you don't. You were completely right about what you said about Yamcha. Unless I misunderstood, but I think you were saying that he was unnecessary because he took away from other characters being better utilitzed, and took away from their character development, because any trait Yamcha had, could have been given to them, and added a little more dimension to them.

@ mooncake623 I've watched KAI five times and I want to watch it right now! I love it! It's the only way I want to watch Dragon Ball Z. It flows really well from Dragon Ball, if you watch that first. The dragged it out a lot in the original with flashbacks, environmental shots, standing around, and the fights went on to far. However, if you saw my previous posts, I LOVE the filler episodes! I just watch KAI, watch the filler, and then go to the Boo arc.

Yet, PwnStar511 volunteered at Toy Fair and he was told by the TamRep's that 17 and kid buu were next, and so far the former has just been confirmed...

I really expect this is pretty much the end for the android period actually. DBZKai will start the Buu period soon and it's pretty logical that they're gonna shift focus parallel to it for marketing reasons.

I'm not gonna debate about this anymore, just voicing my position: I'm an Ocean/Funi dub guy and I quite explicitly loathe what they've done with Kai. Bunch of my favourite scenes had their dialogue changed/ruined and the voice acting is imo almost always lessened (Gohan is just painful *shivers*). Most importantly though: I miss the Faulconer score which is music I absolutely love. So many themes that give me chills to this day. The Funi dub (and for the saiyan saga, the Ocean dub, mainly cause of Brain's Vegeta) is DBZ for me.

Hey all! Long time lurker, first time poster.

Herro and werrocome!:wave

@Bane it's more that what Yamcha does in DBZ could've been done by anyone. He utilises no signature attacks, and performs in no way other useful actions in any manner that expresses a specific character. He's nothing but a remnant from DB and as you know in DB he's already irrelevant as soon as Bulma breaks up with him.

As for Kai, it just ruins a lot that I cherish from my 'DBZ experience'. So yeah, don't care for it. Funi DB/Funi DBZ and Ocean's Saiyan saga (Brian's Vegeta). That's what I'm a fan of. If they'd extract Brian Dromund's Vegeta (and Ocean's Nappa, whoever that is) and put it in the Funi dub, you'd have the perfect version of db/dbz to me. Man, Sean Schemmel vs Brian Dromund would be freakin sick I love those two VA's almost as much as I love Conroy's Batman and Hamill's Joker.

The principal of Kai is good, but the japanese music is what wastes it for me. The lack of filler mixed in with Bruce Falconer music would be perfect.

@)Silrian It's okay! I'm glad for those who enjoy those versions. It bums me out that I can't! You guys sound so passionate about it, and it bugs me it doesn't click with me. I really wish the Faulconer music worked for me, but it's extremely distracting and doesn't fit the tone of the show at all for me. Outside the show, I like the music, especially the Perfect Cell and Room of Spirit of Time themes, but they only as AMVs. As long as isn't immoral or hurting anyone, I want to be convinced to like good things. That's why I start babbling on about stuff that bugs me about the series, because I hope you guys will convince me otherwise, but that makes me, me. I just wish there was one version so all Dragon Ball fans can be the same page on things, but then again, a lot of people probably wouldn't have gotten into the series. It only matters in canon debates any ways. It just brought me a lot of happiness and I was just hoping you guys would get those same feelings. But I understand! It's kind of like how a person tries to shove a piece of food in your face, because they found it delicious and want you to share in their joy, even when you tell them you're not hungry. I don't know if you're interested, but they are doing an Ocean dub of KAI. Hopefully you might enjoy that a little!

@) Deano They actually keep tons of filler in KAI! There's probably 20 episodes worth of filler still in it!

It helps that I'm in general very fond of electronic music, and I'm also a massive sci-fi fan, so as a kid, DBZ felt like a sci-fi/superhero show to me, it felt very otherworldy and the Faulconer score embodies that feeling to me, it's quite a unique vibe, and meant so freakin much to me, that's the fan in me. The sounds Faulconer-crew uses just get to me. When I hear those two first violin notes from piccolo's theme, I immediately get a shiver, because that's piccolo to me, it always reminded me of Batman, but a sort of alien version of it. The spirit bomb theme I get chills because everytime I see Goku raising his hands in the air, calling for help against an indomitably horrible foe. It had depth, it had soul to me. You can't re-create that association.

It's like old time superman fans will never love Zimmer's score the way they love Williams', and yet I absolutely love it, because it was the first time I saw a Superman that looked and sounded like something I can connect to. Just the way it is, to each their own. and LUCKILY DBZ has more than one version, so it gets to more people. A glass half full.

Even further off-topic:
Best bookends ever, I'd never seen these. theyre like mini mount rushmores for DBZ!

@Bane
Yea I loved how well Kai flow from the fights scene's prospective. But I feel like I missed out on a lot of stuff, the silly stuff that I enjoy a lot.
I think I will go back and re-watch some filler episodes from the Android and Cell series after I go through the rest of the movies.

@Silrian
I just wanted to see how the fandom feels about it. I would have guessed a lot of the fans would hate how they removed so much stuff. but I gotta tell you I remember waking up excitedly early Saturday morning to watch some new DBZ (I think they have two new episodes a week?) and all they did was power up and scream during the whole episodes. Man those were hard to sit through.. and than the wait for the next week to get new episode for something to happen. Lol it was pretty tough.

I did not like it when I first watched it, but it was because it caught me off guard. After reading a lot of people's posts on other sites, saying how much they loved it, I gave it another shot. I really enjoyed it the second time, but I still have big problems with it. Most of the movies are very repetitive, so I appreciate the change. The only movie I did not like was Fusion Reborn. I really like spending more time with the characters and the universe. I like character driven and plot driven episodes/movies. My favorite Dragon Ball Z episode is "He's Always Late." It's the episode where the families and heroes are celebrating at the party, while Goku is off helping the egg hatch and defending the animals. It's a good showcase of why Goku is my favorite character. Silly wise, I loved the Driver's License episode! One instance of filler that I never see anyone message is Goku's nightmare of the androids attacking his family. I think it's a fantastic addition to the story! Definitely a favorite of mine!

That goku scene was awesome , I agree .

Thanks for the explanation Silrian. That music totally reflects a Sci Fi superhero vibe, so that makes perfect sense. I don't want it as a superhero show, because I read a bunch of comics, so I get my fix that way, but I understand! For the most part, don't like electronic music, and like it as raw as possible, so that's probably why I gravitate towards classical and heavy metal music. They actually are extremely similar. I just love the purity. I see more as an old timey martial art series with fantasy and Sci-Fi elements so maybe those things show why I like having instrumental better. It's like Batman TAS and Superman TAS having just instrumental! I wish they got a new instrumental for KAI instead of kind of shoehorning in the old one, because the original guy plagiarized. I was wondering why it sounded just like the Godfather and Star Wars!

Oh and I had those bookends on my ebay watchlist! I can't afford them, I just like seeing if people buy things. Great find though!

@)mooncake I agree completely! I love the silly filler! I do just that. Watch KAi, then the TV specials, then the movies, and then the filler! I never understood why people hated the episode where Gohan meets the orphans. I think it helps his characterization! It just makes them more human. I love spending time with the characters.

@Cartoon I'm glad you liked it too! No one mentions it ever, and I think it's an incredible scene! I got all my evidence to show those jerks that bash Goku for not caring about his family. Dreams are from you're subconscious, so Goku clearly loves his family.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'll definitely get some pics and do a comparison tonight for the chinese Vegeta vs legit Vegeta. Oh yea and a collection pic.

EDIT: And sirilian, that is absolutely the most bada** (and expensive) set of bookends ever. Hell, they would make great display pieces by themselves even.

17 looks great. He's actually the hardest character to draw in all of DB. At least for me. I have to say, the Piccolo VS 17 fight was the hands down most enjoyable fight in DBZ. Usually someone is getting their *** kicked the entire time, before a random power up... But 17 and Piccolo were at an equilibrium. It was pretty epic.

Yeah, that would have been a great "what if" story for Akira Toriyama to do. Anyway, back to what Silrian was saying about A17. I would love if A17 came with an alternate head for Piccolo with a smirk. A18 gets a Krillin head, so why not? (Haha). All he really needs is a few faces, hands, and crossed arms. So he'll be light on accessories so I hope he has something special. I guess we'll know later tonight if Bandai releases the rest of his promo pictures.

21st Tournament- Goku vs Jackie Chun, Goku vs Krillin, Goku vs Giran, Goku vs Nam, 22nd Tournamen- Goku vs Tien, Goku vs King Piccolo round 2, 23rd Tournament-Goku vs Piccolo, and Goku vs Majin Vegeta were all equal.

Goku had a lot of even matches! Vegeta vs Goku, Gohan, Krillin, and Yajirobe was an even fight in terms of power, but not number.
