I'm surprised they even accepted it back from the last guy in that state. You could always contact SS to see if they could help you acquire a whip.

This I don't quite understand either, there could be a bit of jiggery pokery going on with the reasons but I have no reason not to believe them. You would think if you're returning it, it would have to come back (broken or not) unless it was smashed into a million bits. The guy at the store already contacted Sideshow for me, no go.

I can't fault a single thing about how it's all been handled by Popcultcha. Up front and honest, a couple of calls and a few E-mails just to tell me what the deal is, etc. That's so far anyway, I'll wait to inspect it before I get too happy but from the sounds of it, it's the classic, one mans rubbish is another mans gold.

Most of my EX parts stay firmly in the box anyway. It's a gamble I think worth taking.

Yea, that is so crazy, you know they get tons of spare parts from returns and over production of replacements once an item sells out. Not so much with a statue like this, but you know what I mean.

Like you say I think this would probably be an exception. The generally accepted low number (but nobody knows really) coupled with the general problems means I guess there are not too many "bits" floating around.

I mean I got a replacement Mace for Sauron at the drop of a hat and they didn't even chase me up for the destruction photo's. I think people beat up on SS a bit too much sometimes (including me). Some of it is totally justified but sometimes it's just bad luck.

It is fairly late in the game for this piece. It's been gone for a while now.

They sold me spare parts in the past.
A cloak for a PF I bought used was ripped and they sold me one even though the item is out of stock.
The hand for another PF had the gun barrel broken off and they sold me one for that and it was also out of stock.
This was for stuff I didn't even buy from them.
That was the good old days.

You could also look at it this way... the whip looks like the first thing that will break or wear out on this piece and now you don't have to worry about that

Yeah looking at the reviews, it seems the general feeling about the whip was that it felt frail. I just watched StatueHunter75's vid and he's pretty much of the same thought as soon as he sets it up. Tough piece to nail though, even if they went with a rigid style it would have bound to have broken at some point.

I agree with their choice even if it didn't work out. Wolf is associated with the whip so it made sense. To be honest I don't even like the movie. I just love this statue and love the Predator Mythos. Those two usually go hand in hand for me but for this I can make an exception.

......and maybe that damn fine Optimus Prime....

Yea, rigid whip reminds me of the SSW Balrog with the fire whip that was extremely fragile and many have been broken and repaired. I do prefer the whip with the LSF and plan to display mine that way when my trade goes down(hopefully soon), but the spear only at a large discount would not bother me one bit.

Yes, I think they learned from the earlier whips and made it from a more forgiving material. I would be surprised to see one of these have problems in the future.

like Rubber? I don't like rubber statues. Like the hoses on the power loader. HCG dreads. Wolf Dreads on the lifesize.

I've seen dreads fall off, split in half, the rubber touching the statue eating away at the paint, things like that.

I'm not sure on the forum rules but what the hell - I got him for less than he was on SS site for put it that way! (I think he was 2 grand right?) I think it works out just a touch less than $1900 US. Which for an international price is a steal IMO.

Still very expensive but not even in the same ball park as what I thought I would have to pay (was thinking 3+) and still a pretty good deal IMO considering the scarce availability.

I'm still going to maintain the cautiously optimistic tone until I've had a good look!

That's a pretty awesome price for this beast. I ended up scoring mine for $1500 usd. I remember how freaked out I was spending that kind of cash via internet, and on top of that having it shipped second hand after the horror stories I heard from people who bought direct from SS.

Enjoy man. It's unbelievable in person.

I actually had it on flex pay and almost paid off and I said hmm open edition I'm going to cancel it and get it later and got all my payments including the deposit back. But when it went low quantity I got scared and jumped right back on it and paid in full. Looks like it wasn't open edition after all so I'm glad I did!
