And let's not forget, Reese did the same thing. He had handfuls of cash with him that he stole from some place to rent out the motel room.

yes rly a-dev, i second what he says )
remember crawling Sarah?
terminator searched for a titanium fix of her bone broken by himself. another loop in that story, much smaller than the whole Skynet history idea, but still.

Can't say I ever heard about this. This was in the book or an early script?

exactly.
- is this enough?
- yes it's enough, and i don't want to know where you got them
)
not exact words, don't have access to subs now.
though i doubt he killed anybody like T1 in gunshop or the place where he took instruments (and glasses/leather jacket according to the book).

read that book for sure )
plenty of tiny details there.
also read T2 from Randall Frakes (he was a co-author with Wisher for T1 book, i guess he had some huge access to T2 material, too) - you'll know all about the long, massive future war scene and Kyle/T-800 and T-800/T-1000 travel through time. that huge scene wasn't even filmed, but is fully drawn in Cameron's sketches.
though T2 book has a different ending. T-800 says "yes i'm afraid" and just jumps into steel.

I've heard about that alright. That would have been awful.

Re: Article: Hot Toys-The Terminator-MMS 238-T-800-(Battle Damaged Version) Collectib

I couldn't imagine Arnie saying "I'm afraid" and doing a cannon ball into the molten steel. That would have been the worst ending ever :lol

Re: Article: Hot Toys-The Terminator-MMS 238-T-800-(Battle Damaged Version) Collectib

funny what you guys found worth of commenting in this whole T1 discussion - a T2 cannonball :(

Re: Article: Hot Toys-The Terminator-MMS 238-T-800-(Battle Damaged Version) Collectib

I just went back and read a lot of the discussion and found it very interesting. I only read the last few posts when I commented earlier about the T2 ending.

Re: Article: Hot Toys-The Terminator-MMS 238-T-800-(Battle Damaged Version) Collectib

So lets say the T 800 finds the right Sarah Connor and kills her. What happens next? He can't self terminate.

The bigger paragraph of your last post was about T2-related stuff in fairness.

That's not true. He could blow himself up or whatever. Don't forget that T2 was glorified fan fiction. It isn't real, and nothing in that film should be taken very seriously.

according to the quoted book, if people decide to accept it, he was going to wait until Skynet appears, then follow standart procedures for field agents: arrive to reprogramming center and get a new task. so he didn't have any need to self terminate at all.
on the other hand Skynet wouldn't appear without him. seeing that he is a learning computer based on a neuronet, he would start exploring history once Judgement day doesn't come. being a working example of himself - not a broken chip - he wouldn't need any reverse engineering (like Miles Dyson needed) to give people all knowledge to create Skynet.
taking his (book) decision to wait for Skynet into concideration, he is still obliged to work for Skynet (not a blank program with only goal to kill Sarah), so he couldn't "not care" and would definitely take those steps.
if he was smart enough to fit into humans science world, he could do everything perfectly.
however i don't think that a T-800 is able to fit into such a specific group, so he would use some other scenario. in any version that technology would be used by humans to kill each other as they always do with everything they are given by science.

:goodpost: Interesting, that would make a cool movie...well...maybe a miniseries.

Re: Article: Hot Toys-The Terminator-MMS 238-T-800-(Battle Damaged Version) Collectib

on the other hand he could just reveal himself to humans for some reason and make a first human/AI contact.
but it would still lead to some great harm. the least he could be is a political assasin. the worst - a Skynet scenario, slightly changed. he wasn't raised by a kid who taught him to protect humans, his nature is an idea that humans should not exist.

Same writers who wrote T1 wrote T2 bro.

If you're a fan of Terminator blowing himself up and being suicidal, well, there's this fan fiction called Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines that has him have a bomb in his belly and he commits suicide to save people.

T4 continues that line. a terminator gives his _heart_ for a higher goal, wow that's really disneyish.
though T3 didn't commit suicide to save people, he didn't care for people at all as i remember. but his task was to move John into safe position, and he couldn't stop TX in any other way.

my problem with that "other way" was that he took out the second, last battery - and still was functional. fully functional.

Re: Article: Hot Toys-The Terminator-MMS 238-T-800-(Battle Damaged Version) Collectib

But what if while he's waiting, he learns about human history and he spends time with people, observing them and learning about what it means to be human or some **** like that. Maybe, he can change :) Although he is programed to think humans should not exist ...hmm, still It would make an interesting story to see a terminator interact with humans while he waits for judgment day. I mean, wouldn't he evolve while he waits?

Well, then again remember that link you sent me about all the **** ups and inconsistencies about the handling of the T-800 in T3 and T4 - it pointed out that T3 is the only film where the protector actually bests the villain in personal combat. While holding up a door that neither the T1 or T2 T-800s could have withstood he drags TX back, is suddenly able to crush her arm and then ram his power cell into her mouth, hold it there until it explodes.......yes I'm aware how that sounds :D So really, he could have beaten her, it just wasn't appropriate to write him as doing so until the very end of the film.

The information provided in the T2 special edition would not seem to allow for that - the idea that Terminators sent out by Skynet on solo operations have their chips set to 'read-only'. They have to switch it so as he can be more autonomous. So the T1 T-800 would have to volunteer to have that done. And given his default agenda to see that Skynet is preserved and wins the war against humanity I doubt that would be on his to-do list.

On the other hand the theatrical cut of T2 would allow for it. He simply says ''My CPU is a neural net processor. The more contact I have with humans, the more I learn.
