"Am I there yet?"
"NOOOO!"

Ah well. I wouldn't mind if Nappa simply were out of scale and the size of Cell... Cell himself is out of scale anyway and it still works okay. I still think the weight issue is hogwash if you look at ho many effecs some come with. If you ask me Nappa bites the dust purely out of lack of popularity. The rest are trivial excuses they could overcome or solve if they really were motivated to. If he'd sell like crazy guaranteed they'd find a way to make him.

This is exactly why I think people rooting for side characters should keep expectations low. This is adeluxe line and they're gonna go for characters as popular and research-safe as they can. Some of us are very lucky we're getting the androids at all. I've zero expectations for anything other than main characters at this point. And with a release date as slow as this line's, it's kinda logical imo.

Maybe if this line is still around in a few years things will shift differently. I still hope they launch a seoerate dragonball line.

But what's driving me crazy is, why did they even bother to show off those prototypes to us? Why waste the time & resources sculpting, painting, adding articulation to Nappa & Shenron and put them on display for all to see.
They said an answer to this already,

"We are evaluating their potential as a product" or something like that.

It was clearly not intended as a waste of resources, the development of the prototype going that far is evidence that they believed that this could sell. Then I suppose they realized that there wasn't enough interest to validate following through.

We should get two Kickstarter campaigns going for both Shenron and Nappa so that the fans can in some way ensure a release. Bandai / Tamashii would have to, at the very least, be consulted to determine a campaign goal. It's not too much to ask is it? I personally think the success of those two campaigns would change the way Bandai / Tamashii look at this license.

I believe the only reason Nappa was made was to recreate the "over 9000" scene with Scouter Vegeta to hype up Vegeta's release. I don't think they ever seriously intended to release Nappa given his size and likely exorbitant cost for just a comparitively minor character.

You may have just hit the nail on the head. They hyped up scouter vegeta by creating a proto of nappa so ppl would be all hyped to re create that scene and at the same time gage the interest in nappa. Honestly i will still buy every figure they come out with and reality is at the end of the day they are a buisness and they can make/ sell whatever they feel will make them money, which is too bad because i really wanted to have a pose with vegeta nappa and raditz together...but in regards to nappas size and shenrons size i dont see why they wouldnt make them into monster arts figures? Or is monsterarts specifically for godzilla stuff?

The only thing we can do for now is possibly start a Kickstarter campaign or Facebook poll, "Would you buy an S.H. Figuarts Nappa/Shenron?" and they can go from there.

Its a shame as I was truly looking forward to Nappa and Shenron, but I am even more annoyed considering that it is also likely now that Android 16 won't release as he would also be too big and he is one of my favourite characters

Telling ya, I think if we can concentrate our efforts, we could see them released. It'd be worth it. Kickstarter would be the way to go.

Kickstarters are pointless for this; where would the money go? Tamashii? We cant just literally throw money at then and expect them to do what we ask, business doesnt work like that folks :lol

Best thing to do is just maturely make our opinions known to Bluefin and Tamashii.

I will say it again, kickstarters are a waste of time and money for this; Tamashii arent going to listen just because we donate money to them, and yes, thats what you will be doing as Tamashii havent asked you to give them money.

Ya im not gunna give a company money just so i can spend more lol

This. I'm just glad we are getting some more non-saiyan characters with Krillin, the android twins, and hopefully kid buu.

So, Facebook Poll for Shenron/Nappa it is! It's worth a try, we got nothing to lose.

If we somehow convince them to release at least Nappa in the future, then that just means the possibilities of us getting other supporting characters are slightly better.

The idea isn't just to throw money at them in the hopes that they do it. I have no doubt that it would work if the campaign had the backing of Tamashii. The reason I brought it up in this thread at this time was in the hopes that our "Tamashii Insider", pwnstar, would be able float this idea on over to his colleagues while working the event.

If Tamashii lends an open ear and actually works with us on something like this it would be HUGE.

Otherwise we will be forced to live in a future where the faint glint of hope for this line is all we have. ;)

Hi All,

Lots of feedback since my last post I see. I had a really fun day at the Tamashii Booth and had an absolute blast posing so many figures! All the new pics you'll see tomorrow of the DBZ display are my doing :p I just wasn't allowed to pose Android 18 and normal Goku. But yeah, there's no new DBZ prototypes at all unfortunately. I was able to speak to another Tamashii Rep today but this time it was the guy who handles all of the licensing. We spoke for like 40 mins as we were setting up the Mario display which by the way is amazing!! The figure of Mario is incredible.

But anyway, I got a little bit of new info from him:

Brolly - He said Brolly was pretty much the leader of those polls they took at the cons and they are heavily considering him now despite his size.
Nappa - I mentioned what the other guy said on Friday about Nappa and he said it is true that Nappa isn't really on the list anymore BUT it's possible they MAY revisit him in the future so there's still hope but you'll have to wait a while if it happens.
Gohan - He was curious which adult Gohan people would want...Mystic or Super Saiyan hair (aka Saiyaman clothes). I said I would personally prefer Mystic as that's his more iconic adult look.
Vegeta - Vegeta is the next San Diego Comic Con repaint. He mentioned that there may even be some new tooling with him! He said this is a Vegeta that a lot of people will want even if you have the other two. When I asked if it was that weird color variant when he first showed up in the anime he said could be. I got the feeling I was pressing him too hard about the subject so I stopped asking about it. So I'm not too sure what Vegeta it will be, but that's the next one for San Diego.

Oddly enough, he said the Sailer Moon series is their best selling line ever. But like I said a few months ago, the DBZ line is super strong so I wouldn't worry about your favorite figures not getting their due. I'm sure they will in the long run. I spoke with some retailers and they all said the same thing -- DBZ sells so well for them.

Hope that helps. Next time I go there will be during tear down on Wednesday.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I also asked him about a SSJ4 Goku and he said unlikely as it's really not well liked in Japan.
