....I am very curious if this is legit...I think it is for some reason...just a gut feeling hunch...If it is real it is sure beautiful and I will own it!

I believe it's legit. I'm having someone in the Eu check it out to see so we can report it on TORn. I will own this for sure. This was my #1 choice for the AUJ EE.

Hmm, I though the statues only came with Extended Editions not Theatrical Editions?

Do you think weta will do an environment version like the Argonath?

If they did, it most likely wouldn't be anytime soon. If this set is legit it's not even gonna hit the shelves until the end of the year. It was many years after the Argonath DVD set that they made the environment.

There were some posts on blu ray forums that suggest April 8th for the release which is a tuesday so that's a likely US release and maybe the EU release a week later though I seem to remember last years being about a month later for the AUJ Blu Ray over here.

That info is most likely regarding the regular theatrical edition. The special extended, collectors edition sets usually come out until the following fall.

They had actually made the Argonath environment years before it was released. They made it to originally be released as one of the first environments but it was kept back for some reason. I only know this as I have one if the origional ones with The Lord of the rings carved into the cliffs and I checked with Daniel Falconer to make sure it was not a fake. He told me the story of the unreleased Argonath.

Wow, that's very cool - I never knew that.:rock

Either way though, if these are part of the EE set, an environment (pre-existing or otherwise) most likely wouldn't be released until later after the dust settles and they have addressed other items that haven't seen production.

You are probably right NK but I really hope you are wrong because the entrance of Erebor environment is maybe THE environment to be released from the Hobbit films. It would be a pity if they just released the dwarves and kept the big one back.

Yea I realize that, what I meant was April 8th is the release for the theatrical versions and this is a gift set for the theatrical edition.

While they've never done collectors editions like this for the theatrical releases before the fact that this has been previewed this early with mock up packaging suggests that it's part of the theatrical release. It seems too early for the extended editions which are still nine or ten months away and if this was a gift set for the extended versions I would have thought it would say extended edition somewhere on the packaging.

Either way it makes no odds to me, I just want a steelbook that fits in with the Gollum and Bilbo one from last year preferably with Smaug and Bilbo in the treasure room.

Usually they release these as part of the EE, much like what they did with last year's enviro for AUJ. So, I'd be surprised if they release this for the TE version. There's a better chance that the picture is for the EE version.

Found this on the Blu Ray forums.

I would imagine there will be official announcements soon, hopefully they do another preview event this year for TABA.

So does this mean Weta's double dipping with the collectors edition sets with statues? That seems a bit excessive to put out one for the theatrical release and one for the extended edition.:dunno
