I'd really urge everyone who gets this to remove some of the cape chain links so the collar of the cape closes up to a much smaller opening beneath the neck of the mask.

I think it looks really awkward with the cape so wide exposing all of the shoulders.

He never had his cape so widely fastened as people are showing here. Looking at the pics on rebelscum, it looks like the chain can be removed so it should be possible to attach it back to the cape with only a few links showing.

ROTJ: Cape collar is outside the neck. This is also the only 1 of the OT films that had the "hook" on the armor.
From ANH & ESB the cape collar was under the neck (for the most part), with the cape chain around the neck under the helmet.
I think this a great "personal preference" Vader figure that Sideshow is doing. Do what you want with the way it looks. "Out of the Box" or "Customize-rs" will have fun with this.
Of course this opinion has nothing to do with the whole Price Vs. Accuracy/what-we-should-be-getting debate.
As an action figure, strictly speaking, I think this looks awesome!
As an accurate portrayal (for me) I wouldn't be able to help myself from making changes.

Those pictures do look nice. Love the one with Luke.

You seem to have the height ratio to other figures down. Does he still look too tall to you next to Luke?

He does to me, but not as bad a ANH.

Now I just have to decide on what I want to buy from this set.

A tad tall, yes, but not nearly as much as the original ANH unmodded. Now in these new pics its less the height that bothers me as much as him being "skinny". Looks more like Ep III Hayden-Vader. I like my Vaders stout and bulked up.

Yeah, those arms are incredibly skinny. I hope the suit has a bit of give so it can be stuffed with something to fill it out a bit.

I always thought ROTJ had collar under the neck too? It's not as open as Sideshows anyway.

Here's some good pics from ROTJ. Nothing is always the same way in these movies, though. So drape the cape the way you like it. You can see that Sideshow's figure has the ROTJ cape/hook design with an ESB Chest box.
Our own, individual interpretive OCD will always come into play here.
Take Boba Fett for instance: knee armor was all over the place in ESB. Upside down, Right side up, Two Left ones, etc.

That's interesting. I always thought (because of the height thing) that he was just standing 1 stair ahead of Vader.

Oh I just realized that you were talking about the drape of the caped not the height differences between Vader and Luke. I'm getting this conversation mixed up with the conversation in the new hope Vader thread. :lol

Cool pics, thanks McHaley. Vaders pants look baggy and like licorice in that first picture, oh wait a minute, that's not the figure, that's, oh never mind.:monkey1

Just so that you're aware, Mark Hamill is standing on a box in that picture. :lecture

:lol Glad you posted that, couldn't stand more 'SSC Vader is huuuge' talk.:monkey1
