Putting the extremely high price aside, this really is a beautiful figure. Amazingly complex and wonderfully executed costume. I have no interest in the character but tempted none the less.

$419 seems like an awfully high price considering I've never heard of Captain Harlock. You'd figure they'd reserve ridiculous prices like that for a-listers. Isn't that about the price of the original Tumbler? Indy and Jack Sparrow both came with complicated costumes and large accessories ... and were still barely more than half-the-price of this.

A-Lister is pretty relative. Harlock was a huge hit in the 70s in Japan and has had lasting impact on the anime industry :dunno

Is it supposed to have a tom cruise vibe? Haven't read the thread so not sure it's been mentioned

To me it loses that romantic space style of the classic anime in favor of trying to make it some kind of American scifi epic.

Just looks steampunk embellished to me. That never struck me as unromantic, nor specifically American.

Guess I can pose him with Sparrows wheel. Hope they don't get into a fight :monkey3

$419? Wow.

This is like a mix of Sweeney Todd & POTC Captain Jack...neither which approached the $300 mark.

If you like the figure just buy the standard Harlock without the chair. Who needs it anyway?

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS 222/223 - Space Pirate Captain Harlock (CG film): Captain Harl

HT's erratic pricing makes me think there is stuff happening behind the scenes that the consumer is unaware of. Everyone simply writes it off as greed, but I think there is more to it then that.
This for example. Great figure. Looks to be well executed. Massive high price. Why? What is making this figure take such a leap in price?
I know the quality is driving prices up, because of the complexity of each figure. It looks like this could be a new body which could raise the price. Maybe the Movie Industry is starting to see what this market has to offer, so they are asking for a higher percent in royalties?

I think if I buy him with the chair, I might have Black Widow try out the chair as well. She would look dead sexy there, sitting or otherwise...oh the possibilities...

I think I am getting ahead of myself there, still haven't decided to buy it yet...

Or they are just being greedy since all of their figures are overpriced. :dunno

Just saw the price of this.... I thought the regular version was expensive at $250 but to get the chair as well costs you almost double? What the actual ****?

Hot Toys always likes to overcharge on their props like that, even though they aren't made of anything special.

Is this going to be a high demand figure? I'm guessing this won't exactly sell Iron Man numbers. It may not be worth it to them to sell it for less.

Sold this is a must have figure for me

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS 222/223 - Space Pirate Captain Harlock (CG film): Captain Harl

Oh wow! Never heard about Captain Harlock, but it is a true beauty, but far expensive.

I have no idea what this is but that Mr. Bird looks awesome, especially on his shoulder. Great looking figure.

:rotfl :goodpost:

This makes most of the Iron Man line look like a steal :exactly:

amiami seems to have this lower then ssc. might have to go with them instead.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS 222/223 - Space Pirate Captain Harlock (CG film): Captain Harl

I think I will accept this as the definitive Captain Harlock. 1) Can't stand Medicom figures, have the most respect for their work, just not my taste. 2) Can't stand HT doing cell anime style figures. City Hunter is the best example of that. 3) With its story and BO, I don't think they would be making a sequel. So this will be a one shot deal.
