I've had my email receipt ready to submit for a while...I just sent it with their graphic saying the head would be ready a month ago. We'll see if they respond. I've pre-ordered (reserved) 10 and actually paid for 4 (strange setup). Don't want this getting lost in the hubbub over Sherlock.

For the sake of the people who bought this, I hope that's just a case of unflattering lighting, cause that looks baaaad. Reminds me of the old SSC Buffy figures.

Dosen't seem to match up to the proto , is that the final product?

I think that there may be the same problem with this as there was with the rooted head. It seems to be some kind of shrinkage or warping that is occurring during the casting process.

This new head looks to have the same narrowed appearance to it as the originally released version, whereas the protos that we saw of both the rooted and sculpted versions were both much fuller and rounder in the face, and so are very much more like the lovely Karen G's naturally rounded features.

I wonder if, or indeed how this can be addressed without some sort of on site supervision, at the factory, all the time...?

I think Buffy, Angel, Oz, Giles, and especially Spike look quite good. Most especially for the price.

I agree with the post above mine - it looks like the problem is with the head/sculpt itself, and not the hair. Speaking of Buffy, it does remind me a bit of SSC's Willow figure - slightly warped in shape.

I don't think changing the hair makes any difference. The problem seems to be in the face.

So here's Amy with sculpted hair.
From BCS Facebook

No, no, and no.

The pursed lips are absurd. Why some artists think that is a good idea is beyond me.

Worse literally nothing about that sculpt conveys Amy's personality on any level. It is as blank as the original head.

I kept these dolls in the box, over a year with the 11th Doctor, waiting for this?

Oh no. I hate to say it, but this is not good. And I had high expectations for this.
I held two iPads together and looked at the pics side by side.
That prototype is very nice. That pic looks like a knock off- a bad one.
This figure has proved to be a bit of a bummer all round I think.

All these issues from the manufacturing and painting. Well, I am now getting concerned for the next two Doctors.

Back to Amy. At her price point, it's ridiculous to get this level of outcome.

Agreed. And that's why I'm hesitating on the Sherlock figures. BIG difference from the picture of the proto.

You're right man, it's unfortunate...a huge missed opportunity.

I have both the Amy and the Catwoman, and there is simply no contest. The Cat is great. And even as good as that is, people are complaining about the paint aps. In my eyes, the Cat is awesome. The head and hair are just great, and it's cheaper than Amy.
Granted, their Doctor figure is good. To be painfully honest, the arm on mine did fall off.. Literally, one day it just fell off. So I'm guessing it had to be loose. It popped back in without issue.
Amy. That set of new pics isn't just lighting, and I'd have loved to be able to continue supporting this figure, but I think I'm just like a football supporter who continues to support in spite of knowing that their team really sucks.

I'm a huge Amy Pond fan and this figure was my most anticipated in a long time. I feel really disappointmed and let down by it. To want something so much and to have it end up missing the mark is truly sad, it's a bloody shame.

I must be on a Doctor Who hi today.
Got the iTunes downloads of the newly found shows and found them to be awesome.
So, with renewed Who excitement, I was checking out this new head... I shouldn't have.
I wanted to look at Character Options stuff again. I know people say you can't compare, but come on.. That Martha is a much better figure than the BC Amy. No axe to grind here. Just being the owner of both. If I had to keep only one, It's Martha.
I have a 5" Amy in the TARDIS Playset, so I gave that a looking over, and I cannot complain. It looks like Amy!
The proto shown from BC is lovely. Why could these most recent shots not reflect those.
As I and others have said. This does not bode well for the next two Doctors.

Yep. I called it way back. CO Martha looks better than BC Amy, and Martha cost $20. Such a shame. :(

Indeed. If you are going to go for high end pricing in the high end market then you have to deliver high end results, and unfortunately for those that 'kept the faith' and purchased her, the Amy Pond doesn't come close to delivering on that.

Hopefully it's just a bump on the road, and not the first sign that we have plummeted over the cliff, though. Next stop Tennant...

The originall sculpted proto head does indeed look much more like the real Karen, as we can see here. and does indeed have that fuller face. The new head is narrower with the cheeks and the jaw being more angular than they should be. Not alot, but just enough to throw it off...hence my suggestion or warping or shrinkage at the molding stage.

My personal opinion is that this face sculpt was compromised the moment that chicken pox scars (clearly visible in the lower picture) were asked to be removed from the proto. It was then reworked again to accommodate the sculpted hair. None of this could have helped it.

Still we all live and learn, and I am now looking forward to the bunfight that POing the Sherlock pair will be, and of course #10 and #4.
