How are people getting theirs inspected first? It was my understanding they were shipped directly from manufacturer.
Anyway my shipping was 44.99.

We shouldn't feel like we owe anybody anything. I spent time in constructing a nice email pointing out the areas to check based upon feedback from other members that have received theirs damaged. 3 emails between myself and Mike who is a manager of customer support. Very nice conversation but he flat out told me they can't place a thin sheet of foam or plastic in between the Cocoon shield and the Batmobile itself. I feel if they are taken time to open and remove the Shield that before placing it back on can place a thin piece of plastic. I stressed to him that placing the Cocoon back on the Batmobile is very important and maybe harder to align then actual removing it.

You would think that before they ship they would email you saying your Batmobile has been inspected and being prepared to ship. I guess for all those that is getting an inspection it will be inferred that you will receive a perfect model. Only time will tell. This is kind of like sausage , we all eat it, but don't want to see how it's made. There is no way I would want to strap a GoPro camera to my shipping box and see the journey to my house.
.......... OR maybe that would be a cool documentary . "The journey of my Batmobile".

In my opinion I don't see why they wouldn't want to inspect these before they ship them. I mean not only are they going to have to pay for shipping back they then have to deal with the angry customers and or give money back (as measly as it is). So why not inspect them? What too difficult? Vs what, having to deal with angry people and shipping costs? If this was say less than 10 percent than sure why do it, but it's in the higher than 40 percent-ish. That's not good. So if really SS or hot toys doesn't want to fix this then I say I hope they lose a tone of money on this. Maybe it'll teach them something .... but sadly I feel it won't.

BBTS said they would inspect them, so what ever that means. btw where did you get 44.99 shipping? the email BBTS sent out said something like 85 bucks. If this is so, I want them to give me that price.

Alter Ego. I was quoted that shipping charge when I preordered it last year. It was cool to see my CC bill charge only about 543. Then I forgot about the $63 deposit they charged me when I ordered.

I don't see how BBTS or any retailer will see it if they don't see it. Goes from Sideshow direct to you, no middle man, because of its sheer size. In fact I got an email from SS even though I ordered from AE.

Unfortunately BBTS doesn't do competitive price matching. Only place I know that does that is Action Figure Xpress.

I rec'd my tracking info from BBTS and when I entered that into ups website, it stated that the package originated from Somerset, WI....BBTS' location. So, I think they did inspect it. Besides, from the previous feedbacks I've read about BBTS positive reputation, I don't think they would jeopardize that by saying they would inspect for defects if the buyer opted in and not do so.

:clap:goodpost::lecture

My second one from CSC will be here Friday. They inspected it and it was flawless. Now just holding my breath UPS doesn't damage it.

It was worth my time, patience, and troubles to box up the damaged one and ship it back to Sideshow and the confidence of knowing that I could secure another one elsewhere that was inspected carefully for defects before shipping. I would not be satisfied with anything less and having to settle for some credit or partial refund of $75 or $150 would not be enough especially when I have to live with knowing that the damages are always there. I paid full price for this then the quality should be there. I think too many people are easily satisfied with letting these companies continue getting away with substandard quality and astronomically rising prices. If they want to keep raising the prices on the goods they sell, I'm going to scrutinize the quality even more and the slightest blemish it gets sent back. You want to charge an arm and a leg, you had better deliver a flawless product or it's getting returned. It's that simple.

good to hear bud, im still waiting on the new batch of Batmobiles arriving to the Sideshow warehouse this week for my replacement, so mine might be here next week :rock

What i would suggest pal, is that you ask your supplier to remove the film from the circled windows when doing the thorough check. The last thing you want to see when you get home is that car is scratch free onlt to remove the film to see more gluey residue!! :slap

Looking at my Batmobile and the underside of the armor/shell, as well as the condition of the box it came in, I have a wacky hypothesis to share:

It appears the scratches on the sides of the canopy are indeed coming from the underside of the armor shell, but how it happened may not be because of heavy item placed on top of it. I have looked at the underside of the box and noticed that mine has pretty serious damages in the mid section (where the small mid section T piece is) and it is at the ground level.

My hypothesis is that during shipment, while stacking the Batmobile on top of other boxes, the Batmobile, along with the cardboard base that it is botted onto is pushed up (near the center area) and rubbed the interior of the shell armor in an up/down motion (hence the line(s)). The weakness of the packaging is not the top, but the bottom.

So the only way to protect the Batmobile is to put a layer of foam between the car and the shell at least in the canopy area.

I agree with this as well... and was thinking about it yesterday. If the box was flipped upside down, and weight put in the middle, it could easily push the car down into the shield.

Well guys my second Batmobile has been shipped from BBTS! My first one was damaged quite badly (I posted photos). Mike at BBTS has been very very helpful and has told me this one will be inspected before it gets sent to the UK. He said they can't add any extra protection to the underside of the shield so I'm just praying this one arrives safely!

Awesome pics Starfleet Captain, the Batmobile is too awesome to be boxed up, it needs to be out in full display! I should be getting this hopefully in 2 weeks, a few days right before my birthday! (and Hulk too!) Besides being worried about scratches, I sooo can't wait for the Batmobile!

I just put one on hold tonight from my local toy store. No shipping cost isn't bad. We opened it and no scuffs or damage. The coccoon had some scuffs on outer plastic

A lot of the Batman figures I have seen posing with the Batmobile could use some help from Tony Mei.:)
