Thanks for the kind words fellas. Damage report.... shell appears to have some major wear but I'm hoping the protective layer protected underneath. I didn't bother to peel off the plastic as the shield is not what I'm concerned about. Underneath the car itself appears to be mint. Did a 360 inspection, rubbed the paint a bit and nothing appears to be messed up. So relieved. I wish everyone with damaged ones the best of luck and for those yet to open yours, keep your hopes high!

Okay guys here is the scoop as of now directly from the person handling this issue (William Mendoza) at Sideshow.

As of now they monitoring the issue as it is escalating with a few reported incidents all similar, of course (so people with damage please reported). They don't know what is causing the damage as this gentleman says he inspects them before shipping so that the cause is still a mystery. Next, there are no parts available for replacement meaning the do not have canopies to replace the damaged ones and/or any other parts. What they have received from Hot toys is inventory (small) but no replacement cars or parts for replacing damaged vehicles. In other words, you either get a full refund, which you will need to send the vehicle back (they will pay for shipping) or you take the credit/ prorated refund mentioned in the email period.

If this becomes a big problem they will be losing a lot of money in refunds and shipping fees. The good thing is that they are aware of the problem but they don't know how big it is or what is causing the damage.

Good luck to everyone :wave

Honestly, I still believe this thing is incredible and still love it! Either way I believe it is still a gamble worthy of trying to get one. I suggest, however to all inspect before completely taken out the vehicle for does signature scratches on the canopy or top and access if it is worthy of returning it right there an then or keeping it reporting it to the vendor and getting some money back if the damage is small and tolerable. I'm keeping mine taking the money (covers the shipping almost) and living with the scratches; luckily they are not as noticeable to the eye unless you point it out or direct sunlight hits it. Again best of luck!

Thanks Boba. :duff:

BRB with the report, gotta kill a spider.

Inspects, what exactly? The brown shipper box? Unless they arrive from HT unsealed and SS seals them with the official HT tape, there is no way he is inspecting the actual car without breaking the tape seal.

I'm sure some ingenious Sideshow Freaks member will concoct a way to fix some of these issues like they've done with many other figure issues in the past, but part of me feels like that shouldn't be our option. For $700, that shouldn't happen. It's nice to see them acknowledge the issue, though.

Glue stains on windows. That's caused by sloppy assembly at the factory in China.

Unless Hot Toys gave them some of that tape by the rolls, which would be nuts.

So, once I get the email, I'm definitely sending it back for a refund even though I'd rather destroy it myself and get another.

Question is, will they let me buy another? Will it be mint in box? I won't get a return will I?

There's a lot of questions and risks here. I just want a new, mint, undamaged Batmobile. It also sucks that all these other stores are selling out. The longer Sideshow stays at "preorder" the more time they'll have to nab up all the returns and possibly resell em.

The bright side is, these mailer boxes aren't going to hold up on yet ANOTHER trip.

I think that this is outrageous on Hot Toys part...a $700 item should not be be received with issues such as this but, on the other hand look at the automobile industries..how many cars end up being recalled ...not cool hot toys..not cool !!

Ok, here goes.

There are 4 camps.

1. Mint.
2. Damaged and returned for full refund.
3. Damaged but keeping it with $70.00 refund.
4. Damaged but keeping it with $80.00 SSC credit.

I fall under #3 or #4.

I also have a scratched left sided roof, next to the round window.

Not the canopy, the side of the roof.

Not a rub, but an actual scratch into the plastic, like it was done by the tip of a nail.

Whatever did it, it wasn't done from inside the shield.

There is nothing sharp inside the shield to cause this.

All my foam pieces were intact, both of the plastic strips were intact holding the canopy.

I believe Geil is right, this scratch came from the factory, either by the workers scratching the car with the edge (not inside) of the shield when placing it over the car or a tool of some sort.

Is it bad enough for me to return, no.

Am I going to accept a 723.00 car having a scratch into the plastic, no.

Will credit be sufficient for me, yes.

Aw, that sucks man. I was hoping you'd post that you had a flawless one.

Other than the scratch, what do you think? Awesome, right.

I'm probably going to stick with my BBTS order but if it is f'd up in any major way I'm returning it for a refund and not getting another. I'd love this to be in my collection as a centerpiece but I only want it if its perfect for that much money.

I'll probably do the same. I'll stick with AE and if there's a damage I'll return it for a full refund and be done with it.

Something like this shouldn't have this many problems. A shame. :(
