I've always thought that him missing Joker was pretty self-explanatory. From the height that Batman is at, it would be a difficult but not impossible task to hit a man standing on the street from a stationary point... but flying at the speed of the Batwing, in a relative dive so that the bullets are at an angle to hit him? That is a one in a million shot. An assault plane like the Batwing seems like it is made for aerial combat or strafing runs on larger ground targets... not a shot at one lone human standing on the streets below. Shooting Joker down isn't why he choose the Batwing in this scene after all... It is to get the balloons out of there. Going after the Joker is a secondary concern, and is a task that this particular vehicle isn't really equipped for. I figure the target locks are for a larger radius than just the Joker, and Batman is hoping for a lucky shot or a way to ward Joker off and protect innocents.

As for Joker's gun taking out the Batwing- A lucky shot is a lucky shot... Same as it would have been if Batman managed to hit Joker. And if I remember right, the novelization (or it could have been an early script) alluded to the fact that Batman had only been in action for about 6 weeks at this point. The Batwing might actually be out on its maiden voyage and be nothing more than a prototype... One without all the kinks worked out just yet. He simply has no choice but to use it on this occasion, and Joker's shot reveals a glaring design flaw.

At least that is how the scene makes sense for me.

They could have just skipped the red target on Joker bit...makes it look like the batwing will land a hit on him but nope

Joker looks very confident to land a lucky shot, I guess he's just insane. I love this movie, the more I try to nitpick it, the better the movie seems, DAMN YOU TIM BURTON!

They should have added that dialogue to the movie. That explains it.

He didn't even seem that pissed that he missed, just a quiet "ah well, it was worth a shot to try and take out that dumb bastard."

This is one of the reasons I really enjoy the Keaton's performance as Batman/Bruce Wayne. By saying very little, the character says a lot in my opinion. I like the subtitles that show the "darkness" of the character.

I can't see him talking to Alfred or Lucius saying "MAYDAY, MAYDAY, I'VE BEEN HIT!". I much prefer that expression he has in the cockpit.

I was just looking through early drafts and scripts for Batman and Batman Returns and originally he had a TON of lines. Lots of lame stuff too. On the blu-ray featurettes, they said that Keaton would go through the scripts saying, "Batman would never say that", "he'd never do this" and trimmed out a good bulk of his lines. The filmmakers were surprised because most actors would want all that screen time and dialogue. For some reason that really appeals to me.

I always felt like Kilmer, Clooney, and even Bale in some instances talked too much. They shouldn't be standing around in the light, delivering dialogue and orating these speeches, it just doesn't seem right for a man that dresses up as a bat that wants to scare the hell out of people.


My favorite scene with him is the "Descent into Mystery" when he's taking Vicki back to his place. I love how he doesn't say a word and she keeps trying to get a look at him and he won't have it. Originally there were all these lines where Batman is literally talking to her, giving exposition. Explaining the change in polarization of the glass (so she couldn't see where they were headed obviously), the hologram entrance, everything. I definitely prefer him not saying a word, even when she asks him all these questions. Even the bit with him inside the Batcave when she's trying to get a look at him and he gets up quickly and goes into the shadows is pure gold.


If the scene had the Kilmer Batman, he'd be talking about how "chicks dig the car" with other one liners. If it was Clooney, he'd be making eye rolling quips trying to sell the Batmobile as a toy. If it were Bale, we'd get these long, Shakespearean soap box speeches in a cancerous, gravel voice or yelling VICKIIIIIIIIII, at the top of his lungs.

I knew someone would say this and I agree with you on the point that you can simply see it through his expression. No dialogue is NEEDED and the dialogue is cheesy but it's also one of those things that would have filled up the plot hole of the pistol taking down the Batwing. The scene is fine as it is but I just find it funny that I find out it's from a explosive round 20 years later.

I admire his performance and I'm happy he took it upon himself to cut out cheesy lines, the explanation is just something I would have liked to see in the movie. Maybe not in the way it was in the comics but maybe in a subtle way.

If you love it, keep it and enjoy it. If it doesn't do much for you, flip it. Atleast that way you can say you physically owned it and you wouldn't have any regrets of possibly "missing out".

We know there are going to be folks that come on here a couple of months/years from now looking to get one only to find that the price is even more outrageous and ridiculous than the original MSRP.

I caved and ordered one tonight man. I have the tumbler perched on top of a sagging cabinet. This thing I KNOW I have no room for but damn it's just too full of the sexy.

Hmm, no DX 09 could be a problem. I assumed you got that.


Nothing wrong with getting a Batmobile vehicle before the actual character, unless there's a rule against it that I'm not aware of. Hell, the Batmobile IS a character of it's own.


The size, space and shipping is a problem everyone's facing. I still can't believe it's going to cost $112 to get to me, I can only imagine what a pain it'll be for UK freaks. I feel for you guys, especially with that customs crap.


I'd just look/shop around. You're obviously interested, I'm sure you could find a dealer (maybe one you've worked with before) and make it worth their time. As for space, like you said, buy now, ask questions later. Even if it's just experiencing it for a couple of days then flipping it later, that's gotta be worth it to ya.



If it's out of the question though, I wouldn't look at any more pics if I were you. I have this on order and seeing the pics alone is getting me antsy. I can't imagine how it would be if I didn't have it on order.

The buyers and people that get it in hand first (like OMG) seem to be enough for Hot Toys as far as advertising goes.


A few in hand pics, good or bad, and people lose it.

Don't thank me, I ain't buying it for you.


It's simple, if this thing has caught your eye and you're interested, pull the trigger. Worst thing that happens is it's some sort of burden (space, finances, peace of mind, whatever) for you for a month or so before you off it. If you're not impressed with what you see and you can easily shrug it off, save that money.






On another note, I still can't believe how much it's improved since this,

They usually don't rework/add things. The extra details in the cockpit, reworking the shape and even adding LEDs to the afterburner (which weren't even in the specs!) are great touches, so that surprised me.


I don't have the Toynami Cinemaquette version (I have all/most of them save for the Toynami and Richman RC), but from the images I've seen, this seems to blow them all away.
