Actually I'm really happy with this Armory but are yours also smelling that awful like plastic?
If I leave the room closed for a day the entire room smells like the Armory.
Think its the foam material and I fear it could be ammonia which could be set free as it's often the case with low quality cellular rubber.

That is the first thing I noticed when I unpacked it. Mine is back in the box though.

Thanks for the reply on that. Hoped it would stop smelling but now it's standing here for more than a week already and nothing changed.
I'm not a chemist but that doesn't smell healthy!
Don't want to cause any panic but if it really is ammonia from cheap foam material it would even be toxic,
so I feel the need to at least recommend not to breathe it to closely.
Have it in a separate shelf behind glass atm but the gap around the door allows enough of the chemical smell to make the entire room smell like it until the room is ventilated again.

My whole collection room smells of plastic fume type smells as it is... so I might as well add some more!

opened it up, I don't smell anything other than the normal plastic smell, smells sort of like the predators do but a lot less than them.
This thing is fudging awesome, will post pics after i've moved things around. I will say this though it is not HT quality, but it is damn near. The right door on mine(looking at it) is a little loose, it likes to close but i've sorted that by wedging it open with the trays. The suit i really seems to like lol will be cutting the mouth piece out when i get a chance though. The sticky guns are not the best, they are very floppy and don't stay compact. Might replace with my DX12 version. It really is great. The back drop i do think could fit in a detolf if you raised the shelves using Ubolts, but i or someone would have to test that. The lights looks amazing when its dark and bring this piece to life. Glad i picked this up.

That's why I think it comes from the foam material that holds the small items.

Maybe V-Raptor can chime in? He removed the back foam pieces in order to switch them to movie accurate sides and never mentioned an odor.
Really hoping this display isn't going to quietly get us all sick with noxious fumes!

I've kept the plastic on the back trays for now, ill give the foam a whiff when i take pics soon. I may look a little strange to my family sniffing a 1/6 armory

Thank you all for helping to figure this out! Also just took mine out of its shelf again to smell if it's really the black foam material.
It's pretty hard to say exatly but im quite sure now.
I know I know, I don't want anybody to loose the fun with it and I'm still really impressed of this piece
but I just think its better to mention it so that everybody can have an eye / a nose on that.
Put it in a room (not in a completely closed shelf), colse the rooms door and go back in after a day and you'll most likely see / smell what I mean.
You'll not smell it if you're in the same room with it over a while because you get used to it.
But maybe it's just my Armory and there is some kind of glue on the foam that didn't dry out completely or something like that.
Will probably get my second in a few days so I'll compare it then.

Common guys now nitpicking the smell of it? They included the 4D of the temp cave so be happy and getting high for free

Ok so upon taking off the plastic covering the foam, yes it does smell but it isn't overpowering, i have put the plastic back on though for the time being. It is however a smell i have smelt before when opening a figure, i can't quite put my finger on it, it smells sort of like DX foam but a little stronger.
Some pics of this thing (not the best but), with a BW bash it really makes for a sweet shelf. I do want to move HIS left arm, considering its a rubber body maybe heating it up moving it then freezer should do it. I don't know if its screen accurate but i don't like the bend on that one arm alone looks odd, other than that its great considering its an accessory.
