Necro post!

Ok so, Dark Arisen is coming out Tuesday. I lost all 120+ hours I put into this game when my old PS3 died, so I'm currently leveling a new character in anticipation.

WHO'S PLAYING?!

I'll be playing for sure. Loved the first game. So I'll be able to use my same pawn at the level he's at right now or just have the same gear?

Well whatever it is, it'll be a plus.

You can use the same character and pawn if you want. It's the same game, just with extra content. Bitterblack Isle is around level 50 or so, though, so if you're really overleveled it probably won't be too much fun.

If you're on PS3, my PSN ID is krayven1980. My pawn is still pretty low level, but she's a decent healer at this point.

Xbox :/ I had a pretty awesome Pawn. Named him Link :D

Yeah I haven't read up on it much. I would think you would play as your previously used character. Would seem silly otherwise.

Yeah I haven't read up on it much also. I just recently got an email from amazon about pre-ordering it for about $40 or so. And that's how I knew about it.

Anyways, thanks for the info Crow. Can't wait to play it. Been looking a new game ever since Tomb Raider. And I think I'll play this game for awhile when it comes out and give TR a break, lol.

Right. The way the original game was programmed didn't leave it open-ended for an add-on, so they had to re-code the entire thing with the expansion already in it. It's a disc-only release. It includes DD, Dark Arisen, all the DLC from the original game, and a bunch of new stuff added to DD.

Good deal for $40. I think I'll have to sell my DD game soon if this new game has the original game on the disc.

Think of Street Fighter vs. Super Street Fighter. One is the original game, the other is the original game with new characters, areas, moves, and various other enhancements. Dark Arisen is Dragon's Dogma with a new continent, loot, enemies, quests and gameplay balances. It's the full original game with the expansion and new stiff as well as all original DLC included on the disc. Your characters and pawns will all be ported over at their current level with all their gear if you choose to just continue your game. If you start a new game, you'll have to play through the same content you did in the original, but all the new stuff will still be available as part of the game.

I really don't see how much clearer the explanation needs to be. There's tons of information out there if you just go to a little-known site known as Google.

There's one new continent, with a dungeon that equals about half the size of the game world in the original game. And new enemies/surprises around the original game world.

Also, your presence on the new island has apparently angered Death itself, so throughout the game after you initially go to Bitterblack Isle, you'll be stalked by him similar to how Nemesis stalked you in Resident Evil 3. He's a perpetual boss, so any damage you inflict on him between fleeing from him will carry over to your next encounter. He can one-shot you if you're not careful.

After I platinum'ed the original game I stopped playing it completely. There wasn't anything left to do. And it made no sense to level grind to 200 or whatever the level cap was.

But, a few days from now I'll finally have my reason to kill that UR Dragon again and all the new goodies that come with this new game. Can't wait! :yess:

Death sounds awesome.

Did they say anything about adding a fast travel? I know there were those travel stones in the first one. Did they make them more accessible this time around.?

Having to walk everywhere the first time playing, didn't bother me because I was exploring the world for the first time. But I think on a second play through it may feel a little tedious.

Yeah, if you have a DD save on your hard drive the game will give you all sorts of bonuses, including unlimited ferry stones, I believe. They've also dramatically improved the fast travel/portcrystal systems, though I'm not sure of the specifics.

Sounds awesome...any word on how they've chosen to handle fast travel or lackthereof? My ONE major beef with the game
