Oh, they better not release that MGS 4 Raiden figure. I still want my RAH Medicom Raiden to retain its value :monkey2

I would buy it for $180 :p

But Im so glad that all of you guys are sure that they will release a HT or PAK MGS4 Raiden figure :) might save my money for it, it realy bother me those insane ebay prices for a figure which not so many fans liked in the first place (I read the review here)

Guys, what's the general consensus on Hot Toys Naked Snake? Haven't really kept up with the Naked Snake thread so I'm not too sure if it's worth buying. Pro's and Con's?

I'm considering selling my Old Snake and Raiden RAH figures to fund a Naked Snake. Not my ideal Big Boss figure as I'd prefer a Tiger Stripes version, but sadly it might be all we get from Hot Toys, so I'd like to have something to represent the franchise (the RAH figures aren't even worth displaying IMO, hence why I got them boxed up).

If Big Boss isn't too popular though then I may just wait for it to drop in price and get it cheaper down the road.

The Naked Snake i think is pretty bad ***. I really like the suit, its just not his iconic suit. I found his arms to be more articulated than average hot toy figures given it had the double elbow joint. The legs articulation is close to none existent. Plenty of cool gadgets.

Its on the cheaper end of HT spectrum too. Its really cool. If you can get past its not a camo outfit and he cant really move his legs much its an awesome figure

It's worth getting and will be even better purchase if you can get it cheaper. It might end up being one of the rarer 1/6 MGS figs.

The Boss is a bust, but I had to get her because I'm a completist. :monkey4

I wasn't sold at first, but it's become one of my favorite figures. I got it from Sideshow full price and I'd do it again no questions asked. So far so good as far as quality. I think the sculpt makes Snake look "meaner" than the videogame counterpart, but that's part of what makes him one of my favorites. Hope that helped, but I'm pretty much a noob, haha

Although the in game model looks better, the retconned head isn't all that great.

Will they be making a hot toys Solid Snake?

It's unknown at this point if they will go beyond the Snake Eater line.

What's wrong with it? I mean they were never going to be a dead ringer, considering the level of detail of the figure vs. the game graphics

Please tell me you're not one of those guys?

The graphics have nothing to do with it. They based his head on the "Naked Sample" render for the 3DS game.

We had a big argument in this thread a ways back because there was one member who kept saying it was impossible to have a game accurate headsculpt for MGS2 Snake... it had clear graphics in MGS2-3 so what's the problem? The only head that wouldn't make any sense to do is Snake from the PSX.

I don't live on here man, I don't know what you've argued about in the past but if I'm crazy for thinking that there are going to be some artistic liberties in creating a sculpt from a videogame character then I guess I am "one of those guys". Yes I did say the graphics, but in the sense that any videogame graphics (from something like ps2, 3ds and not the ultra life like graphics of today's systems) can only be translated to a point before they have to embellish a little. What did you find wrong with the head? You didn't say

There is enough likeness there to capture the likeness in 1/6. I don't like the HT headsculpt because it's more based on the crappy retcon look for the Peace Walker appearance.

There is no reason this cannot be done no matter how archaic the technology was.

When I first saw the figure I saw too much "Che" Snake, and that's what I didn't like about it, what I see in hand is an interpretation based on multiple iterations. I guess what I'm trying to say is I don't think it came out looking like the PW version or 3DS version or the original Snake Eater on PS2, but an interpretation of Naked Snake. The same way I see differences in the way Raiden looked in 2, 4 and Rising all a little different

I don't mind the Che Peace Walker look, as long as it doesn't poke it's *** into the MGS3 line of collectibles.

Even still, it's still a good figure.

All we can do is hope they emulate (and update) the MGS2 look. But Im betting they'll base it off of what ever render they make for the social ops game like the MGS1 Snake they made.

That one is pretty badass(except the hair)! especially since the renders are usually crap

My preference is they follow the artwork. I wish they did it with all the MGS figures but they seem to refuse every time. Closest one is the Revoltech Snake and that looks like ashley wood face.

This is the only canon MGS1 face IMO.

Thanks guys, sounds like you're all pretty happy with it overall. Might just grab one. I don't mind the updated look, makes him look like more of a real person.

Anyway, it's strange that some of you are mentioning the lack of articulation in the legs. Proto shots show this thing in kneeling positions and all. I guess that didn't really translate to the production figure? lol.

Really like that Solid Snake render by the way. Would be awesome if a figure was made based off that.

Im usually really good for testing figures limits, and theres 0 chance its going to kneel! You basically cant even have 1 leg infront of another like he is walking. The outfit is so tight that it holds the legs in place, and if you do force them in to a pose it springs them back.

The figure looks great in hand, so it isnt a reason not to buy it. But its basically a statue from the waist down
