It just feels like with the story, the success, everything, I just assumed we were sort of owed a 3rd RS Batman game to finish what they started. It honestly never even occured to me they wouldn't make a sequel or just whore it out to whoever. It's baffling and I think RS should come out and say something about whats going on so we can know if it's true or not.

It's a been a very Dissapointing year for games so far. First of all rayman legends no longer wii u exclusive and delayed, dead space 3 was a let down ( for me ), Aliens Colonial Marines sucked harder than Sylvia Saint and now this.

Does anyone know why Rocksteady suddenly lost interest in the Batman games? Arkham City was such a financial success. I would think that they'd want to continue it.

I don't fully blame them. Sometimes you just want to move onto different things and funnel your creative juices in something else.

Look at CliffyB and how he burned out on Gears and left Epic. Bungie got tired of HALO and left Microsoft and you constantly hear about developers and gaming talent wanting to try new and different things. I come from the creative field and trust me, doing the same ol' same ol' gets boring. Something different is always a fresh start, a new challenge and a good way to retain talent. I'm sure Rocksteady is thinking in that direction.

I'm with you, I'd love Rocksteady to handle Arkham 3 but I understand where they're coming from as well. I just hope the studio who handles this can live up to Rocksteady or perhaps they negotiate a way to get this as Rocksteady's last Batman game before doing something different.

Even Rocksteady in a consulting role would be great as well.

Netherrealm studios is another possibility given there appears to be an Arkham skin in Injustice: Gods Among Us. Sure its not their typical type of game, but they appear to at least have access to Rocksteady's designs.

If Rocksteady is in fact working on the prequel game it would make sense they couldn't have time for this. I'm going to assume the safe bet would be either WB Montreal or Burbank or both since they did the Wii-U port of Arkham City gave them a chance to play around with the engine and start work on a sequel.

I'm taking this with a grain of salt, for the time being. It just doesn't add up. Why would WB wait until a few months before launch to reveal an installment in one of their few AAA line-ups, and two, why would they put it out this year? I thought Injustice was their "big" title for 2013? When rumors raise more questions than answers, I tend not to buy in too easily.

I dont buy it either. The Arkham City hype started up more than a year in advance. I cant believe it would be released in 2013, with us hearing nothing about it until now.

I don't really either, but as a comparison; Resident Evil 6 was announced the same year it released. (Announced in Jan 2012, released in Oct 2012)

So it IS possible...but I still find it to be unlikely.
