Geil, your cases were a big inspiration! I wanted to ask the dimensions of your tumbler case... and about your asphalt.

My Tumbler case is 34"x24"x14"
Shingle is less work BUT you have to buy the whole roll and still need a heat gun and some work to flatten it properly.
If you are making a case yourself. Especially this size, really for anything larger than 12" in any direction don't skimp and get at least 3/16" thickness. Anything thinner will be tough to keep straight while you glue it. But don't go thicker as the glue joints are very hard to get bubble free so the thinner the less obvious. Yes I know it's contradicting :p. Consult your supplier as the only way to have a chance to get bubble free joints or close to it is to use the right solvent for the specific acrylic. Google for blogs using needle method but it really only works with thicker acrylic. All in all if you don't care how the edges look its easy. If you want something nice well not so much. I have seen ppl use silicon to put together cases like the way you would apply it in your bathroom and call it a day and if that works for you it will be cheap
Btw I got more of my experience and resources listed in my blog

I went with 0.220" acrylic. I bought from Curbell which has a remnants section on their site. My company does a bit of work with them so I saved by having it shipped through my companies loading dock.

For adhesive, weldon was impossible to find locally on a Saturday. I actually used the dissolved acrylic method. I watched a vid where a guy bonded two piece with nothing more than acetone. So, I did a combo of both. I dissolved some material in acetone until I had a nice consistency.. maybe like olive oil thick.. I applied this onthe edge with a hypodermic needle and then pressed it in place. In about 45 seconds it was strong enough to stand on its own at which time I then went back through with a different needle filled with straight acetone which wicked into all of the gaps. I doubt this first attempt is as nice as yours because I really did not take my time to sand edges to 1500 grit smooth.. but it's sturdy and as soon as I head to my mothers (where my cave temporarily is) I will be taking pics of the Pod and DX12 my little girls just gave me for Christmas ;)

Got the batpod yesterday. Love it. But one of the little bars that attaches to the hand guard was broken. Such a tiny piece but hopefully I can just get a replacement, ( I don't want to send in the whole thing due to a two inch toothpick diameter piece of plastic being broken.

For fusing joints I would actually not recommend sanding by hand. you need the edge to be as flat as possible but it does not need to be smooth. if you picked it up from a shop specializing in acrylic they probably already use high count tooth blades for smoother cuts. The fused joints are actually very strong if done right but you can imagine the more bubble the less strength you have.

has anyone done a comparison with the original batpod? i heard the original aligns straight, unlike the v2. v1 is overall better then?

and can the EMP gun be placed on the v1 batpod? still deciding which version to get. any info is appreciated.

From what I can gather, the new one has a better paint job, more metallic looking. I'd imagine the EMP gun should still be able to attach to the original release though as its only a little platic thing that clips on.

i've owned both versions of the batpod and yes, the paintjob on the v2 is slightly better. shinier and more silvery. other than that, they're pretty much the same.

i really love this piece. and it looks awesome next to my tron lightcycle.

Just opened mine up for Xmas:

Looks awesome. Should hopefully get mine early next month. It's funny, as soon as I received my tumbler it just made me more excited to gt the bat pod. Haha.

Just received my SSC shipping notice... Batpod will join the Tumbler Friday Jan 4th....all the pics here have made me soooo impatient! Congrats to all!

I broke down and purchased this, I should have it by next week. I plan on placing Catwoman on it for display.

tx for the info. so paint is better with v2, but that misalignment still bothers me. v1 doesnt have issues it seems. have to meditate on this further, to the cave i now must go...

got mine for xmas (pics in custom cabinet to come!)love it agree with the flimsy handle bars! just watching the dark knight again in the scene where he crashes the batpod instead of running down the joker i notice the handle bars come of too so maybe its screen accurate!

I like it so much I couldn't resist the dx12 with gohastings promo code as well!
