Everyone complaining about Hot Toys prices should dip into the custom figure threads... I see a $220 price tag now and think 'that's it?!?'

Agreed with the first point wholeheartedly, everyone knows that :lol

The 2.0 thing makes collecting and the figure threads pointless imo. All the effort and time the sculptors, tailors and painters put in to make a figure thats almost piece of art is undone because the majority sell it off to get the latest version of it, that also renders and the anticipation from announcement, reveal, P.O, first in-hand pics and everything else before and after in the threads a waste as people won't have the figure to show for it anymore, plus it leads back to the same old characters again and again while new ones get passed over.

I only buy figures i know won't get remade again, they'll remain special and unique which is what 'collectible' stamped on the box means to me

Again, this is another example of good business for HT.
Before they started re-releasing 2.0 figures, evilbay was saturated with $600 batman toys, $$$$ wolverines, Ironmen, etc
So does HT have their share off those ballooned prices? No, the flippers on ebay get all those overblown overprices.
Once their figures are sold out, they're not getting a cent from all these outrageous prices their figures are going for on the secondary market.

2 big reasons for the re-releases, they are going for their slice of pie in all these overblown priced figures.
The other is to introduce these figures to many new collectors at a more modest cost.
Lets face it, even just a year or two ago, there's sooo many people who have never even heard of Hot Toys.
But now that they have produced many licensed products, specially the superhero collectibles, many people are now being introduced to their product, and with the prices lower than evilbay, its a good incentive for many new collectors to get into the hobby. Means more $$$ for Hot Toys.

So while its frustration for us who are already into this hobby having to wait while HT is pumping out all these re-releases, as a business strategy, Hot Toys is continuing their dominance in this market.

Take away all these re-releases, if HT never re-released any of these 2.0...say you are a new collector, there's least incentive for you to get into this hobby knowing most of the coolest figures this company has released is out of your reach.
But hey now, the $600-700 OC bats is released with a better sculpt for under $225, The $700-800 Mark I for $220??? Oooohhh, while I'm at it, I should get these new Avengers to go along with these...What, they have Star Wars license now also?!!! Say it aint so...
While HT's Facebook is flooded with "Waaaa where's my Freaking _________ figure??!!!! :violin
HOT TOYS never answer their page cause they're too busy counting money.

hate it or love it....you speak the truth. just the way it is. my feelings exactly.

I have no problems with 2.0 figures. I'd love another Leonidas or Blade. Also would love for them to revisit the Colonial Marines. Rambo as well. I missed out on all of them. I really think Hot Toys would become huge if they had Edition Sizes.

V 2.0 is fine, it keeps scalpers in check but on the flip side, it keeps values down for us collectors.

Agreed. :lol

I think any reasonable person will at least acknowledge, that - while yes.. being well crafted art pieces to an extent, these things are still mass produced.

Companies like HT are catering to a growing market, not a niche subscribers club. :lol

Old topic is old.

Prince will have none of it.

If any of you ever collected sneakers you would know that a re-release never hurt The Nike Jordan brand, there seems to be a re-release every year :lol

There's also the trade agreement wars going on at the moment and the ongoing effort by China to break off from the dollar as the US declines in global prominence. Their recent stealth agreement with Canada can't be broken without 15 years advance notice. :horror

Good news for Canucks, but for US, things are only going to get worse.

-50 testosterone points for listening to The Bangles

Awww..... :lol

It's a pretty well known song. :huh :lol

+1,000,000 internets (currency exchange for testosterone fluctuates) if you bang a Bangle.

Hoffs still got it. Good luck!

Who cares if Hot Toys goes out of business. I hope they do. I never understood the reasoning behind following what sells out and what doesn't. Just buy the toys you want and don't worry about sales or releases. If you can't afford em anymore, you're not alone. Either put up, or quit. If 2.0s bother upgrade or be satisfied with what you have.

Anything else is just boring speculation. This isn't the stock market, nobody here has investments in these dolls.

The fun has gone out of this hobby.
