Well since you put it that way... :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

New movie needs to star Ford, Fisher, Hamil, Chewy, and Droids, Vader needs to return as the bad guy, and the Death Star needs to be rebuilt again. Nothing new, please.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Y'know, the Brubaker Captain America run has convinced me that even the stupidest ideas can work if written well. Honestly, the most I'm gonna hope for in the new Star Wars movies are that they will be entertaining and, y'know, somewhat logically coherent. Those were the biggest issues I had with the prequels. Bring on chicken Maul and ghost of Jarjar for all I care.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I hate that Brubaker Bucky crap but it's working it's way into the Evans Cap MCU (which I love) so I'll have to accept it and hope they do a kickass job onscreen.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

His run with Bucky as cap was fairly decent I thought for the comics I read. None of the comics are stunning mine you but they were decent for comics.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I thought those comics were fantastic. . .but bringing Bucky back is the lamest comic idea ever of all times.

Guess it was never something that bothered me. I figure its the comic realm and anything is possible.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

My wish for the antagonists would be a Sith led Mandalorian army... and for God's sake, if they have a cool looking bad guy, let them DO something and not just hang out looking cool only to be offed in some ridiculous manner....

That was horrible on two fronts. One, it was the only sacred cow of comics that really survived all the gimmickry, retconning, and pandering that had taken place over the previous 30 years. There was a saying that "no one in comics stays dead, except Bucky." Well. . .

But the other problem is what Khev touches on--this was an event that helped to define the modern (post-1940s) Captain America. He was tormented by the death of Bucky from the moment of his thawing, and it ate at him. He felt guilt and anger over it that were catalysts for Cap's unrivaled sense of responsibility to his country. Now, it's just one more retcon that further dilutes the value and depth of the character and the legacy of comics generally. Great story though.

I don't know when Bucky died. How long was it compared to Barry Allen?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Bucky's death was told in Avengers #4, which was 1963, I think? It actually "took place" in World War II when Cap was frozen, but that stuff didn't actually happen in the 40s comics. Barry died in 1985 in Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

there is one way to bring back Vader and give us the trilogy we all want...

set after ROTS... Vader's Jedi Purge and the birth of the Rebellion... a time to introduce new heroes and retain old beloved villains... carefully crafted, a trilogy set between the PT and the OT could be the foundation of a future trilogy set after ROTJ (minus Vader)...
