considering that the US has only agreed to sit down and talk about putting together a treaty and that no treaty has been written yet, I would say your article is for the tin foil hat squad.

Say whatever you like, but if Obama has his way the 2nd amendment will be crushed. That he's willing to go the UN route should be a huge warning to all gun owners.

I don't think it's going to happen, but the fact that he's already considering this kind of stuff appears that this will be a long 4 years.

~~I'm all over the place, but now my friend has me considering a Scar 17s for my semi auto .308 needs. :slap

I can highly recommend the Scar 17s. I love mine!

I look at the Scar's every gun show. Then I keep walking when I see the asking prices. :D

Although I do agree that the treaty has little hope of succeding, we still need to stay diligent on the matter.

Anything Obama can do, can be undone...do not forget that. But let's all work to make sure nothing needs to be undone.

And on a more fun note, it took me a while to get used to the SCAR. But I do want one now. I still dislike the stock folding to the side, but that can be remedied.

I'm the same. I never liked the way it looked for some reason. Then I warmed up to it after seeing them in person, but never seriously considered it because of the pricetag. My friend has the 16 version, and I am impressed with how it feels while shooting it. Very well balanced and from what I've been reading the 17 has very little felt recoil despite being a .308.

Very little muzzle rise if any.
I do believe it's due to the combination of the bolt carrier group design and the PWS built muzzle brake. I swear by that thing.

Friends and my cousins that have shot mine claim the recoil being driven backwards into their shoulder but again, not much.

I really need to make a video of this at the range.

Nice pic!!! It's very tempting to run to the LGS and flip out the credit card tomorrow. I'll definitely need to get the FDE model because the standard black looks too boring IMO.

Nice, got a little history with that fine piece. Wow, $400 must of been alot too back in 88, but looks like you scored on it. Is that a colt?

Anyone ordered through Gun Genie to get it shipped to your LGS? I just found out that the local gun shop owner where I ordered the Arsenal S12 and cancelled it lied to me telling me I can't cancel it even though I ordered it just the night before calling him. He told me that it already shipped and an option is to just pay the shipping cost or what ever fee he charges and he will just buy it from me so he can sell it. After I got off the phone I called Gun Genie customer service and they told me it had not ship and I still can cancel. Wow, this made me realize the true colors of the gun shop owner, he just opened his shop only just a bit over a year, he could at least just get the gun from Gun Genie and just pay me the deposit I put towards it since he said how hard it is to get the S12. :dunno

I would not hesitate from ordering from Gun Genie again. Not only that they took care of canceling my order with no fees and all with no problems, plus an employee from Gun Genie joined the forums to contact me to get more info on my problem I was having with my LGS so there would be no confusion. Shout out to Gun Genie! Thank you! :rock:gun

Wow that's pretty foolish, but it sounds like the shop owner was being lazy not wanting to deal with whatever paperwork/effort it would take to cancel. Stuff like this is why I have such a hard time trusting people that work in gun stores. I try not to converse with employees unless I absolutely have to.

So I went in to my lgs to get the Kimber 1911 and low and behold they have a Colt 1911 gold cup trophy SS. I messed around with both guns a bit and the owner who's really cool said he'd set both aside for a few days while I decided which I want.

Tough decision ahead!

Thank goodness for that.
The local GS, on the other hand, I'm sure you will stay away from.

Wow. Now, that's a tough call.

I guess pick the one that has the better finish. :dunno

Would like to hear what you end up with. :)

Yeah, I have no clue which one I want....maybe I can work a way out to get both. I keep going back and forth between the 2. From what I hear they both are pretty equal.

Has anyone ever given a gun as a gift? I'd like to get something for my father for Christmas, but I live far enough away that I would have to buy something and then transfer ownership. Is this a pain in the ass?

Not at all.

I would advise you to go to a local gun shop (closest to your father) and perform the paperwork there.

Every gun shop will have their own fees, so be sure to ask to avoid any surprises.

I have a feeling that the shop owner wanted to make profit someway or another, the cost was he lost a customer.

I myself would go for the colt, but that's just me. Either is a good choice.

Thank goodness for that.

Yeah, even the first LGS where I usually go and where I put the un-converted S12 on layaway just cancel my order and sent me out a check with no fees. I had the option to even go in and they would give me my money in some form since I paid with a credit card.
