I assume you're asking if it hadn't been for the QC issues, is it worth it. I would give it 9 out of 10 if my original dome had come just like it is, without the foam marks on it. It's pedigree goes to the original helmet, so you can't get much better than that. The paint colors and application were pretty good (which is where the 1 comes off because I wasn't absolutely blown away by the quality of the pain application). Overall, it's an amazing piece, and it was done very well. They just didn't protect the dome in shipping properly.

As for with the QC problems, that tends to tarnish things for people, me included. Long waits, frustration, disappointment, all take time to get past. I was a lot more happy with it before the replacement came since I wasn't really thinking about the problems. That reminded me of them, and the replacement is worse in other areas than what they were trying to replace. It digs up the frustration of the original problem all over again, and takes away the comfort of eFX fixing it. You basically have to choose which dome is less screwed up and live with it. It's a little worse for me, because I put some small scratches into the original dome replacing it with the replacement. So, even if I stick with the first one, it's worse for wear now than before the replacement. Just a bad experience altogether.

Got ya. It definitely takes a lot of wind out of your sails when things don't go smoothly as they should. I haven't followed this project step by step. So my ignoarance still has me excited for this. But it's not like I didn't loose sleep stressing about other projects that I've been following that went down bumpy roads :lol

Here's hoping that I get a clean dome since I'm getting in on a late wave.

What did Brian's Toys charge you for the helmet? That guy's prices are crazy.

BB

I'm paying retail plus shipping. Forget exactly but it's like $799 plus $30-$50. I guess some guys knew where to get it for under retail. Does anyone know where to score a cheaper one at this point? I had to pay today but if there's a better option out there, I'll go that direction

I got mine from Redford Films for $799 shipped. Probably the best price I've seen.

So that was straight up retail and free shipping. That's pretty good.

If no one has any suggestions for a really good price, I'm just gonna pull the trigger on Brian's Toys. The shipping isn't as bad as I remembered. The whole ball of wax is running me $814.79. And I hear their CS is pretty good so I won't cancel for $15.

Found this image on The Prop Den. It's of a newly opened Legend from earlier this year. It appears they may have caught the foam marks early enough to properly pack some of the Legends in the later shipment. I guess it doesn't always pay to get yours first.

I'm sure this has been said already but didn't the MR Vader helmets have some type of similar problem? And then they started shipping the later waves protected with individual drawstring bags just like that. You'd imagine that they would've learned from that mistake

I think I've heard somewhere eFX was set up by people who worked at MR. Though, I wasn't collecting when MR was around, so I can't really comment on their packing process. I think the McVader was bagged though, which was an eFX piece. Why they went without any covering is beyond me.

The cost of drawstring felt bags is much cheaper than a round of replacement domes and the associated shipping charges coupled with loss of customer confidence.

You get no argument from me. I don't know why they weren't covered.

Hey guys!! I'm new to the forums!!

Just thought I'd get a start here in the "eFX Darth Vader A NEW HOPE Helmet!" thread.

I just received mine last Thursday and it looks great!!! Ordered through Redford Films and couldn't have asked for better service and timely shipping.

Just wondering what are some other edition numbers people have out there for the limited? Mine is #285

Welcome to the freaks brother! Good name and avvy too :lol :duff

Did yours come damaged?

Thanks for the welcome!!:duff

I opened the helmet and inspected everything. It all looks to be in good shape. I then proceeded in trying the helmet on lol!!! That thing gets hot!!

What is some of this talk about the dome not being shiny?

There's a lot more talk than that :lol You're showing up late to the s__t show. Did yours come in a a cloth bag? I'm not sure if they are only doing that for the Legends.

Legends do not come in a cloth bag -- it is like a sheet of duvetyn and a circle of foam to keep it in place...
