Nothing beats back in 1982 when me and my brother tried out all the joe figures, opened them all up and played with them in the ailse while my mom was shopping in the store...

of course,I still bought the one I was going to buy carded :lol

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

There were always kids in the toy sections that did that...where I went to get mine too. Always a small pile of opened **** on the shelf right beneath the pegs....

In fact there are probably adults who still do that...

I got all of my figures at Ben Franklin until 83 when I went into the Marines. Then it was wherever I could find them.

When I was young, Ben Franklin was a "five and dime". Not the craft store it is now.

And I shoplifted most of mine. There was no opening them and playing with them in the store. I opened them, pocketed the figures and stashed the packages.

There were two reasons for that. It was partly because we had no money at first. But mostly, it was because I came from a small town where if you were buying Star Wars and GI Joe figures when you were as old as I was...you would pretty much be shunned by everyone in town. And the women working the cash registers would make sure everyone knew. Hell, I remember getting lectured by one of them for being too old to buy Star Wars figures when I was 12.

Wouldn't it be far more embarrassing to be caught stealing Joes and Star Wars figures as old as you were at the time then buying them Darth Cruel?

A guy I went to high school with did the exact same thing with Pokemon disk things....and he got busted.

Yeah he never lived it down. He was your average guy...not your typical easy target geek....

:nono I'm not ashamed to call them toys. Not even ashamed to call them dolls though I still don't think they fit that description. :lol

:exactly:

To me a toy doesn't sit on a shelf to be admired and appreciated. Ya gotta handle them. Aside from that I completely concurr.

and that's when you tell them its none of your business...

I can honestly say I never stole a GI Joe figure

I think I'd still be limping to this day if I ever did anything like that. :lol

Oh believe me,I would be too.....but it was done without the parents knowing :lol

the employees could of stopped us,but they didn't,but we were sneaky about playing too

My younger brother stole an accessory from a Thundercats figure (Monkian's spiked ball with chain) from a store when he was around 10 and got stopped by security on the way out. My mom made sure he lived a few days of hell at our home so he (and the rest of the siblings) learned a lesson.

Picked up Z's mask for 2 bucks this week. It's a really nice sculpt, I'm gonna try to turn it into Breaker.

Forgive me if this has already been answered... But any good solves for getting the red hood/vest to more closely match the pants? Like a certain dye or something? I want to snag this guy, but the mis-match in color is keeping me from pulling the trigger...
