Hope SS will come up with Black Variant for Spiderman Comiquette

Nice..I would like to see SS do this for their B&W sale(please not another Elektra).

Re: Spider-Man Comiquette - Waitlist links available in 1st post.

Problem is it is obviously a repaint because of the border around the eye. If SSC resculpted the eyes to account for that I wouldn't be against it (maybe also repaint the building to look grimier or something). Black Spidey was a big part of my childhood, so I love that look.

I don't know. I think the back in black Spidey Com looks better than this. I would pick that up instead of a obvious repaint.

i want comiquette position of spidy in my collection .......if SS came with this it will be instant buy

We've seen production sketches of the new Emma Frost PF, confirmed a new Punisher PF is already sculpted, and saw a production peak of the new Red Skull PF. That's 3 redos in the same format. Since they favor PFs over Coms now, seems like they'll do a new 1/4 Spidey as premium format whenever they feel like doing it regardless of who they haven't made yet.

As for fully sculpted PFs, so far they've only done it for characters with body suits like Green Lantern and Spider-Woman. Those with pants, capes, sashes, or non body suits have still been cloth. I doubt you'll get a fully sculpted Classic Cap from SS. There's always the HCG Marvel vs Capcom line. :wink1:

New punisher Pf?????? Where I can find information about that news. Cool men, are you sure???

It was in an "Ask Sideshow" a while ago. Over time many old ones will be redone. If the new Red Skull PF is an indicator, redos don't necessarily mean a completely different costume, either.

who ever did that custom should have sanded down the eyes

The existing Black Spidey Comiquette, as cool as it is, has the same exact issue. It's a repaint and They didn't change the eyes, which is weird since they removed that huge sculpted gold Spidey symbol and back module. But the eyes are just wrong.

The issue is that Symbiote Spidey had no borders around his eyes.

I still have that comic. Bought it the day it came out way back when. Still one of my favorite Series ever.

Have you guys read the Back in Black Spidey story arc? His eyes were portrayed as being pretty buggy in that stretch of art.

Of course I have. That's Ron Garney's art. The comiquette's eyes don't look like that, and most of the artists during "BiB" didn't draw them like that. Since my comics are never far away:

Amazing Spider-Man #539: "BiB Pt. 1" Aunt May gets shot, Peter gets mad, he goes to where he hid his old black costume he used to wear. This is also a continuity error, the costume is STILL wrapped in a sack of his webbing that somehow hasn't dissolved...?!?

The BiB costume is not new, despite how whatever modern artist draws it, it's the same exact cloth costume Peter wore in the 80s after Mr. Fantastic separated him from the symbiote, the costume MJ begged him to stop wearing in ASM #300 after Venom got the symbiote and scarred her.

Spidey's eyes are always the 1st thing I notice on any Spider-Man piece, comic or statue. Do the eyes justice, you win me over.

...yet, he has been drawn with the buggy eyes. This is a fact. Not one that I personally appreciate either. Yet, it has been designed in a fashion that has already been depicted in the comics. That is all I say. Believe me, I wish they were different, and I've always said this.

I'm a spidey fan myself and honestly the 'bug' eyes don't bother me at all since I like the cover where the sculpt was based from. if there's one thing i'd like to improve on the BIB, it has got to be the scale as he's on the 1/4.25 or 1/4.5 scale when compared to other true 1/4 stats, not with the 'bug' eyes.

but yeah, if SS does revisit a new Black costume, bring it on.

It's not just the eyes that bug me. The pose is a classic Spidey pose. Too much of the black costume is hidden when he's hunched over. That's why I liked the BnB Spidey Com so much. There was a nice sense of motion with that piece. Also, you got a chance to see and enjoy the whole costume because he was standing. It's just a superior piece in every way to the repainted classic Spidey Com IMHO.

The classic Spidey Com is slightly larger than 1/4 scale. The BnB Spidey and Iron Spidey are actually more in scale with other 1/4 statues than the classic Com.

Re: Spider-Man Comiquette - Waitlist links available in 1st post.

There're some picky people here. I think both statues are cool: bug eyes or not.

O Ok. Last I checked, the BnB Spidey Com is a bit smaller to some PFs that are 1/4 in scale, though not really noticeable. Right now, I have the BIB beside a Star Wars PF and just by comparing the fists and head, they don't match. Ray Park (Darth Maul) is 5'9 in height and more or less would have the same height and build as spidey don't you think? I know someone on another thread provided some good insights about the scaling.

Well if in the end the BIB is in true 1/4 scale, then I guess I'm glad my only issue about this now goes to trash. :hi5:

Re: Spider-Man Comiquette - Waitlist links available in 1st post.

Spidey is 5 foot 10 inches. That's 70 inches tall. Divide that by 4 (that's 1/4 scale) and you get 17.5 inches. BnB Spidey is on the mark. The classic Spidey is hunched over but if you put him next to other 1/4 pieces he's larger. Hell, just look at the size of his head. It's pretty huge. The BnB Spidey is more in line with 1/4 scale than the classic Com. They both look great though. Can't go wrong with either of them.

Re: Spider-Man Comiquette - Waitlist links available in 1st post.

If this piece came up I would be one of the first in one to pick it up.
