(EL wire can be bundled to increase output. It's also gotten considerably cheaper in the past few years.)

Show me some that is LED bright and we can continue this discussion.

i got mine over the weekend.

FINALLY. after two bloody years of waiting, and nearly coming close to canceling at one point out of sheer annoyance at ht's silence over the delay.

to be very honest, when i first saw the lightcycle in person, i was underwhelmed. i wondered what fuss had been all about over this rather toyish-looking, err. toy. the plastic they used just looked exactly like that --- plasticky.

but when i got home and set it up properly, and turned on the lights... it was a different story. it looks pretty sweet, i gotta say, especially in a dark room. happy to report that all the lights on mine are working fine.

i'm still not convinced ht's delay made the thing any better than it turned out. some of the lights taper off at the ends anyway. and the arms look awkward when splayed out like that, regardless of it being a bike-riding pose. it just looks a bit too gangly and weirdly-angled. but on the whole, it does look quite cool, especially if u give the piece its due space to be displayed.

So when there's no light on this piece it looks kinda sweet . . . that's . . . great. :wink1:

hmmm, if you're suggesting this piece looks great in total darkness when no one can see it, then no that's not what i meant. but if u mean it looks great even when its lights aren't switched on, then yeah it kinda still does.

but at the end of the day this piece looks best when fully lit up. :rock

will try to take some pics and post them this weekend...

But that's just it, how often you gonna turn it on while it sits on a shelf or in a display case? I sure wish there was a way to make this fully AC powered. I rarely turn mine on except when I get bored and want a quick 30 second "Wow!" to remind me how brilliant it looks when lit up and then put it back on the shelf.

...here comes the buyers' remorse with any +$300 purchase:monkey3

Lit, or un-lit this is a great vehicle concept, masterfully reproduced and presented by Hot Toys. If you don't think so, move on to the Batman Tumbler re-release (yup, it's also great:wink1:)

Hey, has anyone had trouble getting the battery door on the back of the figure shut after putting the batteries in?
All the batteries don't seem to leave enough room to close it.

Heh . . . except this isn't a discussion and I don't have to show you squat. :wave

Ignore him, he's just trolling mate. :monkey4

He obviously can't afford one himself, and this makes him feel happier about it. With all that **** coming out of his mouth i'm surprised he can still type coherently.

:lol:rotfl

......and...ignore is pressed.

I came up with a quick and dirty fix to my problem. It appears the figure lights up just fine with two batteries in it. I replaced the third with a tiny bit of wadded up paper and was able to get the battery door on it shut and lit up the figure. If I tried to force the third battery in it wouldn't light up any way. Somehow when I first got this I must have forced it to work by putting the door on crooked but it bothered me how floppy the disc was attached to his back. I'm not happy I had to fight with it but it doesn't appear my solution has affected the aesthetics of the piece. I figure if I can fix it without having to send it in all the better.

The lights must be dimmer if it is only getting 3 volts instead of 4.5.

It is a tad but not as much as I expected. I would like to get the other battery to fit and the only way I can think would be to shave off part of the bottom of the battery cap.
I'm also wondering if there is more spring than there should be.

Well, mine is just fine. Guess I lucked out. I have to say I was skeptical how great this would look with the lights off...

It's still amazing. It's just a smooth, shiny, sculptural piece of art.

I was skeptical. Annoyed. Frustrated. Tired. And Now... I'm just SO happy and satisfied. I don't regret getting this thing for a second.

I'm pretty stoked. I just found the solution to my issue where I can't get the battery door to shut on the back of the Sam Flynn figure. First I gave up and put just two batteries in the figure which made the lights dimmer than I would have liked but tolerable. Today, I had the idea that perhaps a similar but slightly smaller-sized 1.5 volt battery existed. I went to the jewelry counter at Wal-Mart and bought a three pack of the 357/303 battery. On the back of the package it said they could replace the LR44 battery. Upon examining them they seemed a slight bit thinner than the batteries that came with the figure. I thought if I put these three in it maybe the slight difference in the thickness would make up the difference that keeps me from closing the battery cover. I bought them and luckily they fit perfectly, the cap was closeable and the figure lit up to its full brightness.
Long story short:
If you have trouble with getting the figure's battery door to close and the figure won't light up properly, buy the 357/303 watch/calculator battery and it should work perfectly.

The price of these seem to have started to climb almost instantly after release. Has this ever happened as fast with a Hot Toys release? They really must not have made much more than what covered pre-orders or something.

With Hot Toys releases, once they are sold out from online retailers the secondary market prices start to climb. Wouldn't surprise me if this thing goes for twice the price in the coming months. Part of the problem though is that 1 in 3 lightcycles have defective LEDS so they are getting sent back to fix them.

Sideshow customer service. I had to send mine back for a replacement.
