For crissakes you can't even get the Con "exclusives" there anymore.

Again, agreed. These are the least exclusive exclusives ever released. :wink1:

Obviously it's about saving money and not dragging all that stock down there. They're clearly going to be bringing many fewer employees as well since they don't need to take orders or fulfill orders (or at least not nearly as many orders) at the show.

Sideshow's convention strategy is clearly to scale everything way back. They're not even showing up again at Star Wars Celebration. Someone over there must have determined that it's not paying off for them like it used to. Being at shows for so many years, they must feel they're brand recognition has reached saturation and can carry them forward.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

And no... my order hasn't converted yet. :( Bummed, because it's been a couple hours. :rotfl

TBA is to be announced. As if they already know how many they were going to make available they just didn't want to put the number out there to be seen by consumers yet.

Yeah I got the announcement in my email 41 minutes AFTER it went live online to PO. So not much help there.

Yeah, I have to agree with you there...the timing of their notifications isn't the greatest and can also depend on your email provider as well. Not the best way to publicize stuff like this, but I suppose it's at least some notification.

Personally, I like the good 'ol Priority Pre-order method particularly for highly anticipated releases. SSC seems to have gone away from these and I'm not sure why for certain items.

Thing about the weathered version too is that I won't be as critical and expect perfection like if I ordered the EX with the paint.

Actually SSC's track record is much better with "clean" figures. Sometimes their production weathering makes it look like they were hit by flying poo. Hopefully that's not the case with the droids.

I'm still in shock that the EX went so fast. I hesitated given the price tag and the NRD that I would have to swallow right now and that was the difference. By all accounts I got on the WL about 3-4 mins after they sold out so I'll be curious to see if this converts. I have a hard time believing that there won't be some conversions given the price of these and once people have to cough up the the remainder when they ship.....it's just a matter of how many will convert.

I would have to think that SSC would have produced at least 250-500 EX versions because I can't recall SS making less than 500 EX PF's of any Star Wars piece, particularly a piece as anticipated as the two droids. It will be interesting to watch this unfold....

the Han exclusive had an edition size of 250 and Rex was 300, before they decided to change it.

I still think this is a "fake" sell out, especially given the "TBD" trick.

I signed on almost as soon as I got the email, but I'm at work so I don't have access to a computer all day. Sucks. I've been collecting these SW PF's for years andjust like that - screwed out of an exclusive.
The option to buy just one would have been nice also.

I am really happy to have an option for separate bases. The two separate pieces will display in a lot of places that wouldn't work with the giant footprint of the single desert base. I need a PF to fit in the available shelf space, and I also prefer the PF line as an opportunity to study a single character at a time rather than a diorama approach. The droids can go next to each other, of course, but I prefer two distinct PFs--one for each character. So I'm happy with the EX and I'm glad I ordered it. Thankfully, those who prefer the regular won't have a hard time getting one.

I would have loved to get R2-D2 but way to much. I could care less about the set, I just wanted R2-D2.

It seems logical. That way all the people who hopped on the waitlist to avoid NRD have to pay it well before they thought they would.

Exactly! too must risk involved with a $75 NRD anyway. I hate the Sideshow paint roulette wheel.

So anyone else notice that there are restraining bolts in some of the photos on the regular version? Very cool. This may have just put the reg version above the Ex version for me. Everything about the reg version is more iconic. Better base. The dirty used look. And now it seems that the reg comes with restraining bolts. i am loving this Reg version more and more.

but sideshow twittered it's sold out, they wont lie to us now will they? :monkey3

rex didnt get increased yet, it just switched back to TBD, so reserving final judgement.

Will the reg erythema be super limited too? I never seen a TBA item sell out before they announce it.I too got the email 30 mins late on the preorder.

I had a chance to order when it was live but I'm not a huge SW fan. Went to Lumber Liquidators to redo my media room, get back and see less than 10 remain, then jump on the waitlist lol. I figure if mine converts it'll be a nice trade option later on.

Has this already been discussed?? Just wondering because everything about the Reg version now seems more like an EX then the EX.

Don't tell me I will have to offer up my Skaar EX in hopes of getting the EX set here.....sigh
