Most of them are already legion throughout. Ask Sideshow seems to be where they really shine.

I don't think I'd even know they existed if it weren't for the noise they make in there.

I don't care if it gets closed or not, I'm fine etherway, but the question was posed and it was not noted that you had to spend time in this section to vote. The reason it was asked is that this is a slow section of the forum and most of the people who voted here don't spend time in this section as it is. The point I was trying to get at was what is the result, when will the the votes be counted and the choice be made.

Actually, it was about if newbies got confused when they entered, not if it was so slow it should close.

I don't think people got that when voting...

Sadly the day is coming when I'm done with SSF altogether.

I was there. Honestly I started to hate this place. Since then I sold my collection and stay out of the Star Wars forums 99.9% of the time. I only visit the games, other topics, or movie forums. I've been much happier and I think I even post more. :lol

I know people like having their own little club - but I do think it has outlived it's usefulness.

Why can't all the people protesting just post in here: https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/group.php?groupid=41

That's what Group forums are for. They even have an option to block non-members from seeing threads/posting. Almost every section on here has one or more group forums. Why not move all the popular threads from those dead forums into those group forums!? Cleans up and streamlines the forum while keeping the few active posters in those sections happy.

Win/Win.

Since when do we care that a newbie gets confused?:dunno :dunno :dunno

Doesn't seem to stop them from starting another "Hot Toys Wishlist Thread". :gah: :gah: :gah:

Or a "What should be my next Hot Toys purchase?" thread. :cuckoo: :cuckoo: :cuckoo:

It's the smaller regions of the SF message board where you find good constructive talk from courteous and helpful people... hence the NEED for this forum. :goodpost: :goodpost: :goodpost:

Funny, I've heard the trolls call for the axing of both the Indy and Disney sections due to the lack of traffic. Yet isn't BOTH Sideshow and Hot Toys still actively producing pieces from Disney?

I think you clearly missed the point there. The Freak traffic Disney and Indy get is comparable to Whedonville. So if Dave's shutting Whedonvilled down because of it, might as well close up shop there too. :huh

Well one thing that came out of this thread is the Action Figures sub-forums. It's not the Hot Toys sub forum, but I guess it's good enough.

this board is giving me a headache now. :lol I think the best thing would have just to have a whole seperate Hot Toys subforum. Now everything is so split up..

I would eliminate and condense the number of forums and then make sub forums within, but then I like organizing things very ____ retentively (laugh).

So a new science fiction forum could have Star Wars, Aliens and monsters, Trek, Robots and Terminators, Doctor Who, Apes, Firefly, and general. I make a point about Apes having their own section because we don't want them contaminating the pool. :monkey3

Superheroes could have Marvel, DC, and general.

Fantasy could cover Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Game of Thrones, Golden Girls, and general.

I disagree about Hot Toys needing their own section because their product is varied and really across the board in selection from Rocky, Platoon, superheroes, etc.

My only question about this thread's proposal then is, where will we need to go to find Buffy and Firefly threads? Will we have to dig into General Section with all the random threads that are in there (now divided into two sections of random threads)? Or maybe the Custom section for those of us making our own Firefly figures...

I personally wish this site had even more cult specific sections, like "Robot" and another for "Aliens and Monsters".

I was new once, and I very much appreciated knowing exactly where to go to find stuff I was interested in. It may be my natural, human dislike of change, but I don't really even dig the division between articulated and non-articulated that just happened. If I want to look up Predator stuff, I now have to decide what format I want to see? And what about threads like "All things RoboCop" or "All things Godzilla" that incorporate everything having to do with them. Is that in articulated, or non-articulated, or both (God forbid).

This is cyber-space. Is space really an issue here? Make MORE sections.

[EDIT] I like William Shatners idea. I much prefer genre forums with sub-forums by property or license over sub-forums based solely on the format of a collectible. That's horrible.

Glad you guys made the shuffle, I had a feeling this wouldn't be around when the forums were down earlier.

Close! You must've meant: Articulated OTHER (including everything except Pred/Term/Alien) + NON-ARTIc ditto

and: Artic:predTerm/Alien + Non-artic ditto

Perfect! :wave

So, the question was posed to close this section down and merge with others to make things more maneuverable, only to end up splitting up other sections into sub-forums, making things even more divided and unmanageable. I don't understand the logic in that at all. Just made the whole forum a lot more cumbersome to go through checking things out.

I don't like sub-forums. I never visit them. So, from going from a pretty simple setup, it went to something I don't want to spend any time on checking out in those other sections.

Guess this section only will get my whole attention now.

I love the new set up, especially the subforums. No more having to scan through a bunch of HT threads looking for statues, and vice versa.
