Re: CREEPSHOW starts today!!!

Dooley (if I may be so casual as to call you Dooley), you have my full support.

Creepshow is a classic, and you're giving me the ability to have a full set of 1/6th scale figs for a price that won't tear my funds asunder. It brings me back to when SSC used to sell their Horror figs for $50ish, and I could get full sets of things and not hate myself for doing so. That's not the case, really anywhere, anymore. But if your stuff sticks to this price point (or at least in the vicinity) I'll be a superfan.

Re: CREEPSHOW starts today!!!

EVERY custom on the board is an infringement. This is a step backwards for ALL customizers.

Maybe Dooley is afraid? :lol I want to see how his will wind up also!

Well I knew this was going to get out eventually. First off not afraid of anything! And I don't have anything personal against Beto either. I think he does incredible work and he's very talented! But it's illegal plain and simple! I've been in this business and special effects for 20 years! I've worked hard for what I have and to get my business off the ground. I follow the rules and laws. I went through all the proper channels to obtain the licensing rights for CREEPSHOW so I could give you the fans and collectors affordable figures and collectibles.

I'm a big supporter of all the artists on here who strive to be better and be successful! I don't care what everyone is doing and sculpting and trying to sell. But I do care about the one property that I've invested a lot of time and money in and I must protect that! This isn't a game... it's business! If you want me to continue giving you the best horror collectibles out there and have them still be affordable then I have to put an end to things such as this.

Re: CREEPSHOW starts today!!!

It's one thing to make a custom figure of let's say "The Wasp Woman", when no one has a license. While the property is languishing in "who gives a crap" ville, a custom figure may be all you ever see.

But when a producer has pulled the property from "who gives a crap"ville and pays a fee to bring us licensed products...then all bets are off. Because its a legal contract and the artist paying for the license takes center stage. He has a legal right to protect himself from unlawful siphoning of funds from his legal business by stopping illegal figures being made.:lecture

Case in point is Distinctive Dummies. Making a handful of each character that no one gives a rats behind about because there isnt enuff money in it. But if Hammer decided to start making its own figures...and wanted DD to stop...then he needs to stop. Because they are the license holder and they dont want unlawful figures draining profits away from the figures they are paying to have produced.

Re: CREEPSHOW starts today!!!

You see, Sam was right.

Back on track, I'm going to pre-order Nate soon. Had somebody hack my finances and it's been a real headache for the past week and a half trying to get it resolved.

Re: CREEPSHOW starts today!!!

How much was Beto's?

I don't remember. I just remember thinking "I wouldn't pay that much" for the character of Fluffy. I like the character and the movie---and would like to give it a place in my collection. But not at say 300-400 for a 1/6 figure. But I may turn around and pay more than that for a character I love. It's all a little subjective based from buyer to buyer and who their favorite beast is.

I just paid $125 for a Grimsdyke resin model that I had to build and paint myself. But I love that character...and no one has a license. So, to me, that was an ok price. Most wouldn't pay that. Thats prolly why there will never be a licensed figure or kit. To them---paying that much cabbage for Grimsdyke is outrageously overpriced!

I like Creepshow. I like Elm Street flicks. But not enough to pay $400 for a 1/6 figure. $98-150? Sure. But any higher than that and it needs to be 1/4 scale.

Voice inflection is lost here in cyberspace. Thats why I try to use smiley thing a ma bobs to show people I am not screaming bloody murder or making fun of them.:1-1: I just wouldn't pay that much for a custom if a licensed alternative was available...but I can see the points of both parties.:peace I just dont think customizers are going to go away because of this. Customizers and resin garage kit folks are the ones who started the collectibles ball rolling to begin with. They arent going anywhere.:monkey3

I can honestly say that Dooley's approach to customer service is outta sight. I will support this line as long as my wallet allows( I dont have any credit card debt and wanna keep it that way).

If you got the money to buy a custom or whatever than buy it if it's worth it to you and believe me I've spent a lot on one fig it is what it is:yess::yess:

Re: CREEPSHOW starts today!!!

Dooley: Here's a quick question: will the 1/6 line be "finished" before you release any 1/4 offerings? Or are there plans set up at this point?Just curious if you have planned ahead enuff to have two types running at the same time? I think Sideshow kind of bounced back and forth on the universal Monsters products between busts, pfs, etc. if I remember correctly.

Re: CREEPSHOW starts today!!!

Any thought about making a torn up Wilma for Fluffy to eat? I loved her character.

I am more into 1/6th but certain exceptions do exists for me to buy in 1/4th and Fluffy and Pennywise (even though I would be scared s*#&%less) would be the ones to buy for me.

Re: CREEPSHOW starts today!!!

I hadn't even considered a 1/4th Fluffy...holy crap.

Well, gotta start saving for that, now.

Re: CREEPSHOW starts today!!!

i don't blame someone for trying to protect their investment. i loved Beto's Fluffy. i was on the waitlist and list for a 2nd run. and as much as i loved it, i'm REALLY hoping SHS's will be even better.

there are a couple things i hope SHS does better. i felt Beto's could've had a more open, roaring mouth. like when the monster was 1st revealed. and i think it was a bit too small for Fluffy, and for 1/6 scale in general. Fluff's and that crate had this otherworldly quality to me, like Fluffy was just too damn impossibly big to fit in that crate. as if the crate was a pocket dimension. when he first came out i was like "OMG!"...then i was like "how'd he fit in there" lol.

so wide open roaring mouth, larger size, tighter fitting crate heh :wink1:

Re: CREEPSHOW starts today!!!

I'd like to do real wood if it's able to be done and affordable. Nothing better than the real thing if you can use it! I've been kicking around a few ideas for accessories and I think you'll like the end results :) "The Crate" is going to be a good one. And yes we're planning on a 1/4th version too!

And to answer Dr. Phibes questions we'll most likely break up the 1/6th and 1/4th and mix it up a bit for variety. Plus we'll be releasing our own original line of creepy folks that won't stay dead! And some new Bits & Pieces!!!

Re: CREEPSHOW starts today!!!

I'm on board for everything discussed.

As an Accessory suggestion, I think Mike's Hammer/chisel would be great, so I can have my other figures cracking "The Crate" open on my display.
