i cant help but laugh at the people who seriously think SS sculpt is better then HT. just, LMAO. are they serious or just joking around? cuz john cusak doing an oriental impression dressed in an indiana jones getup doesnt strike me as "accurate". maybe in one of his comedies it would be amusing, but not in figure form.

Yeah, were serious, I'd rather have a "toy lookin head" that looks like the character than a real looking head that doesn't look like him. 've soon both in person and IMO $250 isn't worth it. But we all have different taste.

I 'd rather have the HT head and hat than the SSC heads.

Glad you did not spend stoopid money on something you did'nt like. I find it sometimes almost irritating the way people throw money around.
But, that being said when the SSC Indy originally came out it was one of the first US mass market figs to break the $90 mark. Many on the boards complained about the price before it was even released. I bought it. It was also the first 1:6 licensed Indy's in decades. It was a poorly painted oversized head with a glued on hat on a horrendously flimsy body with plastic whips and a molded plastic sand bag. Oh some said it was a bargain. After all they gave you a 2nd head with a 2nd hat that did not fit together. Then in order to get the idol pedestal, I had to buy an equally horrendous Belloq.

btw: anyone have any suggestion of a headsculpt that resembles Belloq ? Either a custom sculpt or a a mass market Dragon/DID etc look-a-like

Incredible repaint (who did that by the way?) but these images belong in the customs section.
It was Kuato. As for where the pics belong, well. . .I considered that, but the only mod was the head. That custom Indy thread is really focused on more extensive mods than that. There are discussions here of folks modifying the PERS, staining the pants, using different bodies and jackets, using different gear, repainting the stock head, etc., and I don't think my pics are out of line with those. Plus, I thought some folks (those with a slightly open mind, anyway) might be interested in seeing what the DX looks like without the stock head. So, I think they actually fit here pretty well.

Givin' some love to the desert gear:

I made one minor mod (Mighty Marvel "No Prize" if you can figure it out ;) ), but otherwise he's completely stock DX. Actually a very cool figure overall.

The SS sculpt looks awesome on there Kara, congrats! :hi5:

The SSC Indy looks as much like an oriental John Cusack as much as the HTs Indy looks like Harrison Ford...

Look man, just because you gladly spent 200+ on a figure doesn't make your opinion and the pics any different to those with an eye for detail.

Bottom line, people have made the HT one look a lot better by customizing it... but for 200+ they shouldn't have had to do a thing to it... with the SSC's figures price, people knew they had to do things here and there from the start.

HTs never fixed the sculpt and yet we were given info that they were updating it... they lied and released and inferior sculpt to the SSC one... it's just the way it is... the paint and all the other stuff including the oversized body are nicer than SSC's... but the sculpts are not in the same league.

My Indy is a modded SSC version that i actually like... if HTs makes another Indy, i will probably grab that (because i am sure they will get a better sculptor) but until then, i am happy with the one i have and i only paid about 100 bucks all in all.

So you can now go back to your laughing and batsuit... "Forever" really?? I can't help but laugh when people take that film seriously. :p

Hey, thanks for all the encouragement over these pics from everyone.

Your Indy looks great Kara, did you have to mod the head to get it to fit on the muscle body?

Personally I like the HT sculpt because it photographs so well. On the shelf I think Trevors sculpt edges it out but I couldn't get close to the realistic paint aps that Hot Toys use so that head is the one I use for display. I have taken the map room gear off for now and currently have the figure set up like this:

You pull off some great natural looking poses with him that's for certain.

Thanks! I dig him, though I do plan on updating the sculpt with a WGP version. :)

No mods of that type needed. Fits right on the HT peg. Great work on yours, btw (jacket is awesome), and great futzing! That's one thing I've surely never excelled at :D

Incredible, your making me want to order this one but I keep telling my brain thats just not what comes in the box. If they had done those paint and leather mods to begin with this would have been a home run.

Yeah Cavlcade, your pics make this figure look great, esp. the one with the idol...

So, and I'm sure it's been addressed somewhere already... but what mods did you do to make that figure shine!

Quick question: Is the HT body that comes with Indy the same shade/coloration as the Generic Muscle Body (Jake G head)?? Thanks.

WOW Cavlcade, thanks for posting that shot. That looks TREMENDOUS. So relaxed and natural. I was really trying to figure out how to pose my 'non-scene' specific ULTIMATE 1/6 Indy (using the Kato shirt, pants and jacket, and the MFisher belt and holster) in some way with the idol pedestal. Now I think I'm going to have to steal this idea because it's just THAT good! Bravo man, bravo. You've inspired me! :clap

The one thing I'm thinking I might try with mine to differ from yours slightly is to have the whip wrapped around his left shoulder and have him holding it instead of resting the hand on the pedestal. Similar to the first Amsel poster. I'm gonna give it a try that at least...see how it looks. :wink1:
