As the collection grows, space becomes an issue, as many of you already know.
I've decided that a curio cabinet is needed.

The space I will be putting the curio in is 63" wide.
I'm hoping I could get some feedback on any 60" wide curio cabinets or if you have any alternative solutions I'd love to hear them. I've looked into the ever popular Detolf by Ikea, unfortunately, it's just not deep enough and I'd also prefer to have something wider.

Thank you all.

tick tick until thread is closed and you are rerouted to prior curio cabinet and storage shelving bliss. ;)

I would go Craig's list if I were you. I've seen lots of these sorts of things there, for insanely good prices in relation to buying one new, trying to get it shipped to you, etc. You just have to provide the transportation, and have to accept having a used cabinet.

You could. Doesn't seem much different than having 2 Detolfs at that point, though. --edit: I guess they are a bit wider after seeing the dimensions--

The trophy cases are dust proof as the have slding glass doors. While the Detolfs don't keep dust out. I have 5 Detolfs, but would trade 3 of them for a 4' trophy case if I had the money.

True, but they're also a bit deeper at 20" so I could get crazy with dioramas if I needed to.

Interesting. I've never seen a Detolf up-close.
Are they not sealed at the corners where the sides meet or are you referring to the space above and below the glass?

The curio I linked to above does have felt lining around the entire front door so no dust is getting into it, however, I'm wondering if there's too much wood at the edges. I do like how trophy cases have very minimal material at the edges to minimize obstructing your view.

Yeah, Detolfs are not sealed tightly, just with magnetic clasps. I wasn't aware that these Curios were done differently though. One of the appeals of Detolfs though is price. If you live within earshot of an Ikea (I do not), they're extremely reasonably priced.

Detolfs are held together by the base and top and have a plastic edge on the back and side glass pieces. But the front door isn't sealed and has a 1/4" gap on the sides and top. Some have use weather stripping to close the gaps up.
Some Curio are dust proof while others are not. Sliding glass is the best for keeping dust out.

I've found a case at the perfect dimensions!
Wanted to get your feedback on this unit:

The edges/corners seem very slim and so very minimal obstruction of your view, plenty of lights, and wheels in case I want to roll it into another room. :lol

What do you guys think of this one?

It's beautiful, but $2500.00? :thud:

I know, that's the weakest part.
It's at Amazon for $2K and another place called zoostores.com has a President's Day 10%-off sale.
