I think in this case they waited to announce the figure until they had production samples... at least I remember that being mentioned at one point.

Not sure if the same applies to IG-88 though, he's coming out right on their heels.

Yes, Battle Droids and IG-88 waited until production samples were good to go. In fact, the first proto for IG-88 was done by China. It was enhanced in house, and then redone in China to be what we've seen already and are getting.

Didn't realize IG-88 was... but that makes sense. Do you know anything about his extending legs Nathan? Seems we haven't gotten an image of that from Sideshow yet.

That makes sense, frankly I wouldn't mind the shorter preview times becoming the norm. 9-12 month waits from preorder is pretty ridiculous. I bet they get anxious to show stuff off and get it on order, but I'd prefer a shorter anticipation.

The red and green clones coming up this month were also done a very long time ago. The green one was my trial project for Sideshow back in early 2010.

I don't know anything about the legs that you don't. I've never seen it extended.

So here is a quick couple of pics of mine (with Gree for scale)

GOT THEM, and they are GREAT! Really impressed with the metal joints. LOVE how the thumbs work. Great rubber thigh joints. Heads kind of turn? My only gripe is that my exclusive 1138 back pack is loose and keeps falling of! I wish they had used magnets in their backs. If I am brave enough maybe I'll crack them open to add some. But I don't think I can without wrecking them though. VERY stiff and sturdy. They feel like quality, not cheap plastic. AWESOME!

THANKS Sideshow and SilentSurfer for the great figures! Let the battles BEGIN! ;)

im going to assume that a Battle Droid of some kind will be this years SDCC Ex.

Most likely, I agree!

Here's a few more:

The paint application is BEAUTIFUL! Great weathering! :clap

Be careful! I popped off a leg posing him for the pictures, which is cool cause I just popped it back on. I hope all the joints can pop out of their sockets to simulate Jedi "slice and dice"! ;)

Looks great Brinn! Thanks for posting these; and really glad to hear the joints are nice and tight. I was fearful of getting a set of ragdolls :lol

Indeed they look pretty cool. I don't know if I'll do these like the clones and get a bunch of them or not.

I definitely won't be in for this like I am for the Phase I clone but I definitely will get a set because they look so damn cool.

Ouch! Are the shoulders suppose to rotate? I went to move his arm up and the joint just snapped. :(

Oh NO! Contact customer service with your pics. They are supposed to rotate. Maybe the arm that snapped was stuck with paint, or just too tight?

Just did. I hate it too because they're actually really, really cool. I tried the other arm and it's locked up as well. I was a lot more cautious now that I know they're stuck so it didn't break. Didn't bother taking his brother out yet to see if he's the same.

Just opened mine up. Damn, these joints are tight. A good thing on its own, but given the fragile nature of the figures, pretty scary to move them.

Another warning to people getting these. The backpacks don't fit very tightly and can slide out with a little jostling, which may be dangerous to the antenna.

I carefully moved the shoulder joint. It's not locked up, but rachetted and very, very tight.

The elbows and knees also have a very soft rachet effect to them, but can stop at any point.

One of my droids won't let the neck all the way up. I'm afraid I'll rip the head off if I pull much more.
