Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

A quick shot of how i display mine

Beautiful display. And that's one of the best shots of the portrait I have seen.

Also, I hope I can get my cape to lie on the shoulders like that someday. Did it look like that out of the box for you, or did you do some kind of special futzing with it?

Gotta agree, those shots really convey the excellent likeness :rock

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Had the kids last night at home (mom's away on a business trip) and they saw the HT Superman figure.
They were in awe.
My 8 year old son simply said "now that's Superman"!
And they've never even seen the movie.
It's a testament to just how perfectly the design of the suit and the Christopher Reeve look work.

never seen it?!?! what are you waiting for!

:lol

Yeah, true, I do have to show them the movie.
Some time ago I showed Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger and Jason and the Argonauts to them, and while they found the effects amusing they just loved both movies. To them the "campy" stop motion was fun to watch and they just liked the adventure. They also loved the '33 King Kong.
Still, I'm not sure how they would react to Superman. As a hero they are much more aware of Superman, and the effects and story line might be distracting to them.
For example, they enjoy the SW prequels a lot more than the OT. The faster pace and better effects are just much more enthralling to them. And Anakin's story resonates a lot more with them than Luke's. It's just much more romantic in the larger meaning of the word.
Who knows... doesn't help that I'm no big fan of the '78 Superman movie! :lol

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

"no big fan of the '78 Superman movie"?! :horror

You are...joking....I hope? To me, it is still the perfect superhero movie. Plus the fact that Christopher Reeve's Superman is and always will be the BEST Superman to me! Hands down! :)

That's so awesome that your children said "now that's Superman"! I LOVE THAT! :yess:

The classic Ray Harryhausen stop-motion animation is so classic. I'm a big fan of his work too. I love Clash Of The Titans too. The original one from 1981, with Harry Hamlin that he did the stop-motion work on. His last movie doing it too.

Again...you are joking...right?

Why? I don't want to get involved in an argument on this thread as I love this figure so much but to many people this was a deeply flawed movie, from the variable quality special effects to a hideous portrayal of Luthor with his idiot henchman Otis to a farcical interpretation of Clark. Even Reeve's Superman was too young and pretty at the time for me. A few decades on I appreciate more how he looked but still find him a bit lightweight.
But let's not argue. We all have different opinions and I think we agree on how good this figure is.

Nothing special,i just pulled the cape downwards until i was happy with it.

So that base comes with the figure?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Yes, but he put in the lights/switch/batteries by himself.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

I finally heard back from Sideshow today regarding the paint rub on the forehead of my figure. They claimed that they searched through "several" boxes of Superman figures and even checked the one on display in their office, and that they all featured "a sheen" on the forehead. In other words, they refused to replace the head for me, or offer me anything other than a refund.
To be honest, after all the great things I've read about Sideshow's quality customer service, I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. Merely by reading through this thread I know for a fact that not every figure has the same paint rub on the forehead, and that they are really just sweeping my issue under the carpet to get rid of me. Should I stand for this or stand up for myself a little?

If they are unwilling to give me the same service as I see so many others receiving on this board, then this will be my last purchase through them. I will take my business back to BBTS and CSC. I have never had a single issue getting replacements for damaged figures from them. I am very disappointed in SSC right now. I see so many freaks on here requesting and receiving replacements for figures with barely noticeable little snags on the suit, yet I am ignored while every time I look at or photograph mine a white light reflects from his forehead and ruins the portrait and enjoyment of this figure. Unacceptable.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

When did someone get a replacement for a snag?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Mine had that on the forehead. But i think it's really a minor issue. Mine went back cause of huge amount of wire sticking out of cape. (and a very loose arm) If my replacement comes with that on his head i'll be fine with it. (can only notice it in certain light)

well if you think they are lying to you then return it and take a chance ordering a new one. They have both versions in stock. If you get a second one with the same problem, then perhaps they were being honest with you.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

When did someone get a replacement for a snag?

Before they started telling customers they ran out of replacements. They then started crediting people $25 refunds for the snags. I wasn't even offered that, which would at least pay for a can of testors dullcoat to fix this ____ myself.
