Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Put the leg-up pose on hold and thought I'd give the floating pose a try.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Got mine yesterday.

Overall, it's a fantastic toy and I would have been ecstatic to have this when I was a kid. Head sculpt is nicely done and as always - the paintjob is exceptional. I wish I could paint like these Hot Toys factory workers! J.C. Hong really knows how to do this stuff.

Costume color isn't too bad (it's too blue but not as bad as I feared), but the lycra they've used is too sparkly. I hadn't really noticed that in any pics posted so far but in hand - it's practically glittering.

Cape material is weird - almost like a velvety type of material. WTF???

Chest and cape logos are bad (particularly the cape logo).

All of these critiques are coming from someone who has spent a long, long time studying this costume and having displays made in various scales ranging from full size to 1/4 scale. I've also seen an authentic Reeve costume in person, so know exactly what color and appearance this fabric should have.

I was disappointed that it doesn't seem to be possible to put his arms down in a relaxed pose to match the manhattan skyline publicity pics. That's how I was going to display him but the muscle body doesn't seem to allow it.

Mine will be off to ebay shortly if there's no people interested in buying it here on the forum. I was lucky to get a correctly placed chest logo thanks to Wai Man at OneSixthBruce who checked it before he shipped it to me.

Chris

I got my figure yesterday and agree with what Chris has said.

Luckily no snags or marks on mine although the S shield has a pronounced curve at the top rather than a straight edge. Not enough for a swap though.

I am finding the skin tone to be a little dark but it is a minor gripe.

The cape is a bit of a let down, great idea for flying poses but it just does not allow for a natural looking drape for a standing pose which is what i wanted to replicate and the material is odd. The arms not having the movement to go close to the sides of the body affect being able to reproduce the classic Reeve standing promo pictures also. Maybe they will work better clasped behind his back as in the iconic flag photo.

Another nit pick is that the boots should be taller and go to just below the knee. On the figure they fall well short.

But a great presentation overall considering this is 1/6 and helped by a fantastic sculpt.

I'm more curious as to where your sig is from, that funny little man gives me the giggles sumtin' awful.

I saw it one day in a thread. I can't remember who posted it originally, but it cracked me up so I made it my sig. Shame I'd like to give them credit, 'cuz I find it hilarious.

In all honesty I think I laughed for a good hour and subsequently I couldn't stop looking at it that whole night. I'd return to my last post every now and then for a chuckle.

On topic: I'm VERY envious of everyone that is getting their Superman. I chose to get Cap early, so I'll have to wait untill christmas for this. Man this has been a great year for Hot Toys. AWESOME PICTURES FELLAS!

Awesome. I can almost see the cape flapping in the wind.

Got my Cr Superman yesterday and if I never get another 12 inch figure I would die a happy man. This figure is perfect, just perfect and one that I had always wished a good company would make. Thanks Hot Toys!

Congrats, Vodoun. You have NAILED Reeve in these two shots. Especially in the legs. He always stood a bit awkward. You did it.

Good on ya.

Chris

So basically, you complained about the figure for who knows how long, you got the figure (which btw is very well represented by the pictures), and then you immediately put it up for sale. I think any points you made during your constant rants about the figure are rendered moot simply by the absurdity of everything you've done and said in this thread.
