I love me some Starscream, but. . .there seem to be so few differences between this new one and the old one, that I'm not sure if I'll bite. I do like the improved head.

Another pic.

If I decide to get a new Starscream, I think I'll go with iGear for the following reasons:

- Mold changes/improvements: The new head looks nice, but I'm not sure I like those pointy wing-tips near his hips in bot mode. I see myself becoming irritated by them, like the hip kibble from the first MP Seeker mold. iGear's version doesn't have them, and for all we know they're working on a new headsculpt too.

- The "extras": I don't care much for the whole "coronation" theme - and if I did, I prefer the look of a fabric cape, not this Spawn-looking thing. I can always pick up a third party one for my current Walmart Starscream, anyway.

- Cost: The price is the real kicker. I know it's largely due to the yen-dollar exchange rate, but as reasonable an excuse as that is, it still means I'm paying a lot of money. If a domestic version comes out, I may get it, but I'm not shelling out $150+shipping for this right now.

In related news, I preordered iGear's PP-03L "Lightning" (i.e. Thundercracker) today! :)

Yeah, unless the Starscream is available domestically for < $100 (no guarantees it will be released at all, considering that Skywarp's sales seemed to be really bad), then I can't imagine going for it. And the hard plastic cape does suck IMO. Looks like something you would see on a Revoltech, not a high end, Masterpiece TF.

so will the new version be smaller than this one i have pictured?? if yes, then its no good to me! this tak version is small enough as it is! the 3rd party cape and crown also looks better to me!

Hmm? I don't recall seeing anything about it being SMALLER.

Some people seemed to want it to be larger, go better go with MP-01 Prime and Megatron, but as far as anyone knows, it'll be the same size as the first MP Screamer, since it's basically just a remold.

strange?? why the need for a remold?? i too dont like the hip kibble on the tak one i own but i just remove it (see pic). good for people that missed out on wal/tak version but no need for me to purchase.

Another edge it has is the fact that its an official product, and not some lousy knock off.
Thats always an edge.:rolleyes2:slap

Oh, get a new cause.

In all seriousness, this is nothing to get excited about. Hardly an example of the "superiority" of official products!

Not terrible, by any means, but a mediocre offering at best.

Im not going to argue over trivial details here, or take the flame bait.

However:

You collect KO's you aint collecting Transformers, plain and simple.
Go buy some KO Levi jeans or buy a pirated movie and tell me they are better than the real thing.
You wont be able. Sure, you have more cash in your wallet, but at the end of the day its still a fake.
Same thing goes for these Knock Off Transformers and in my opinion people who buy them almost exclusively (or more than average) are damaging the very thing they apparently love so much.

I do sincerely hope Hasbro comes down on these companies with all their might and shuts them all down.

For the record.

Go on hoping. The third party companies are mostly based in China. and China doesn't recognize international copywrite law.

The video game industry has been struggling with this for YEARS. There are Chinese "game developers" who take a standard game release, and simply change a title, and a few textures, and the re-release the game as it it was their own, and the Chinese government stands with their citizens legally.

Funny thing is, while hasbro has little to no power to shut down 3rd party companies Legally, they COULD shut them down overnight if they Really wanted to.
How? These companies, producing the armor sets, the trailer sets, the 3rd party figures, Devastator, etc? they make and sell them Because there IS a market for them.
All hasbro would need to do is make them themselves.

But they won't.

Why?

Because, they have said, Numerous times that we, the adult collector market makes up a ridiculously small share of the market, and we " DO not matter to them"

as for hurting the brand?
if a company can make something that generates a BILLION DOLLARS in revenue in this bad of an economy, then there is no way we could possible do them any harm financially. not realistically. Not if we don't matter.
Getting off my soapbox.

Anyone have any Idea when the Prime toys should be hitting the east Coast?

And quasi-related news, my Wedding Cake topper just arrived

:exactly::goodpost:

Seriously, it's kind of a d_ck thing to say, hoping all these awesome third party companies go out of business. I mean, if you don't like them, fine. If you don't agree with their business practices, alright, but in the end, all it would do is make a whole lot of collectors really unhappy. :(

Who are you, to tell me I shouldn't be able to buy an MP Soundwave or Shockwave? No one's telling you that you shouldn't be able to alter official Transformers and sell them at a markup - isn't that technically infringing on a copyright as well?

Live and let live, man. :peace
