For me it comes down to the character being represented and the timing of the release. I'm a big fan of Ventress and I think her 1/6th figure was better than the PF so I went with that one. Same can be said of Maul, which I absolutely loved in 1/6th. Now, in my opinion, the 1/6th figures with human faces look god-awful. Sideshow can't seem to get these right so I go with PF's for mainly human characters.

vice versa with statues though..
i end up saving money collecting statues for mainly this reason..
i only buy statues/PF that has a good head sculpt..

hottoys on the other hand, have many great headsculpts..
it is harder to sculpt statues i guess, thats why it feels more worth it owning a statue which has a great headsculpts..

I don't see all the big fuss about PF's... Yeah, they look okay but wheres the creativity? If I want to waste my money on something to look cool then I want to pose it myself. :rock

Trolling reported.... again. :wave

Dont you get tired of yourself Nam. you always report people and nothing ever happpens to them, they will be here tomorrow and the day after and the next month after that. You need to learn to leave things alone and just ignore people. Plus l am sure the mods are tired of you messaging them reporting members as trolls just because you think they are.

WHAT!!! PFs only look okay, where is the creativity:cuckoo:. PFs blow away 1/6 in appearance everytime. obviously you haven't seen to many PFs in person. Yeah some people like 1/6 or 1/4, l like both, but 1/4 for me just has more of a bang wow factor you don't get with 1/6. Trust me you take the same character in HT 1/6 and a Sideshow PF and put them side by side l guarantee you you will see which one has more of a wow factor, not to mention HT is creeping up and close to SS prices.

It all depend on what you choose. The SS godfather, Scarface and a few others are crap and you can get much better versions in 1/6. Overall SS PFs for the most part are very accurate in every way and are bigger and overal more of an epic collectable, not to mention most PFs do not go down in price, most appreciate every year (at least everyone that l have is worth much more then what l paid).

This is coming form someone who only collected 1/6 for years, then l got my first 1/4 PF just under two years ago and will never go back completely to 1/6. If l love a movie character l will get a PF instead of a 1/6 version any day.

HT cons that i don't like.
HT rubber breaks down.
HT figures can get loose over time (that's why l don't care for poseable figures).
Not very big, don't have that big wow factor.

SS PF cons.
Some have paint issues (Rare though, well maybe a tad more these days).
Some of their characters are off on facial features and some are bang on perfect, it varies.

These are the only cons l have for PFs. everyone who sees my PFs are like damn those things are sick and they spend some time looking at them. Family members would say my 1/6 collection was cool and that was it (or woman would say cute collection:slap:lol) but my PFs always got way more attention from viewers, whether they were friends or family or just visitors, they all seemed to walk right past my 1/6 predators, Jack Sparrows and military stuff and walk right up and look at my PFs, and their reactions are my feelings when it comes to comparing 1/6 to 1/4 SS statues.

I think I'm going to do the inevitable, and just get a mixture of both, leaning to PF when possible, and as long as it makes sense price wise and looks better. For example, I think I will skip all 1/6th clones entirely and just satisfy my clone tooth with the PF alone. It can be had for cheaper than two 1/6th clone figures, seems like a no brainer to me. And I'll go for PF Han in Carbo, it's much better than the 1/6th imo, and its barely more expensive. I still love my Jabba and throne, so I won't be getting rid of those, I'm not really too bothered if they don't match up size wise.

So if I am not mistaken, there is a new Vader and Boba PF being developed? I'll just skip on the new 1/6th entirely and wait for the PF.

I was put off the PF line with the original Vader & Fett & now the stormtrooper their helmets broke the deal for me

I'd hate to see the figure this PF blows away.

Depends on the sculptor and form self experience, it's easier to sculpt in 1/4 b/c you have a bigger canvas.

For me, sculpting in 1/6 is much more gratifying b/c it's the little details that count in 1/6 IMO and those little details take many more hours to achieve in 1/6 than in 1/4.

And for me, when I see something, regarding details, from HT or SS that I've seen done in 1/4 before that has now been successfully achieved in 1/6, the 1/6 is much more impressive to me as a collector b/c it's the same amount of detail or more but at a smaller scale

This used to be an easy call for me but with PFs I started running out of room and Hot Toys started making figures I was really interested in like Inglorious Basterds, 89 Batman, Reeve Superman, etc. When Sideshow starts making DC PFs the choice will be even harder. Regarding the price I apparently missed out on the good years with collecting 1/6th almost every 12inch figure I've ordered has been $200+ which is killing me and might end my collecting or at least narrow my purchasing power.

In fact the 1:6 HIC looks miles better than the 1:4 proto which is crumpled like a tin foil. Pics courtesy of Shadow from Rebelscum:

Exactly. The Vader and Stormie PF are not accurate. But the problem is that neither are the 1:6 alas... :(

Yeah it looks like they got a little overzealous with the crinkles, but between the size and the light up features, I'd go PF all day. Not to mention that 1/6th shows up on ebay about once a month or so.

Yeah, comparing Sideshow 1/6 to Sideshow 1/4 is one thing, but Hot Toys blows PF out of the water.

I don't think it's any harder to sculpt statues than it is to sculpt 1/6 figure heads. I think the real factor is that Hot Toys generally has better sculptors, or perhaps more importantly, better painters...

Paint in the key. SS has awesome sculptors that are on par with HT and everyone else in the game. They just can't get their stuff painted worth a flip for some reason.
