I'll take a Scarlett, Baroness, and Lady Jaye. IMO, the line won't be complete unless they're made.
Throw in Zarana and Jinx too!

I see both points. Everything in moderation.
SSC needs to release a female character soon, IMO, but when they do I don't want them to all of a sudden as I think Meat Hook implies, go "clone" with them and go 4 or 6 releases straight because SSC is trying to maximize the margin on the female body.
Though on the other hand...Zartan or whoever the first muscle body would have been can be considered a "rubber duck", yet at some point they did need to take the leap of faith that the body would be suitable and release him.
They can't live in fear that the female pro will be an instant disaster.
You have to admit that if SSC's lineup for 2012 was 10 female figures across 3 or 4 lines SOME people might be a little turned off.
I personally wouldn't mind, but I think there is a certain group that would, just as there is a certain group that is not interested in 10 clones or 10 robots or 10 cobra troopers or 10 of anything.
So the logic that SSC does do that, and that people do respond unfavorable to it, isn't that laughable. Taking it to the extreme and saying that it will kill the line...maybe. SW is still going despite all of the clones and they will keep going after they release a bazillion battle droids next year.
I do agree that the pain for specific lines will be minimized but for anyone collecting all of the lines, I think for a 12-18 month stretch fem figures will be quite the norm.
Thats a good thing for me though as I like a lot of the female designs in these licenses.
A lot of times 1/6th females look like crap too. I know its been a while, but most SSC Bond females are atrocious. The Buck body aside, the faces for Princess Leia and the Padme are not great either. Hair is always hard to get right no matter how they pull it off.
The best 1/6th scale female figure from SSC, IMO, is the Assajj Ventress and she's bald and the head is painted grey!
If they can rival what HT has been doing with female figures for the past few years then I can see the females being successful. If we get stuff on the level of the ANH Leia (just talking about sculpt and paint), then it will fall short.
From the General Joes site:
https://generalsjoes.com/2011/07/27...ling-in-sideshow-collectibles-news-and-intel/
Summary of new info:
They are fine tuning their female body. So that it looks correct with and without armor (indicates that Baroness will lead off?)
They are going with sculpted hair for the females because it gives them more options for styles and the ability to swap out hairpieces for different looks (i.e. windswept, ponytails, etc).
They still have Destro in development – again, fine tuning the new muscular body.
Possibility of small vehicles, specifically the Flight Pod/Trubble Bubble
Condition Red: Urban Threat is coming out in Q1 2012. This will be the last environment for a while.
Desert Cobra Officer should be available by the end of this year. There is also another Cobra trooper that is coming out later this year that they are very excited about.
They plan to play up the more unique and sci-fi aspects of G.I. Joe to keep it from being just another military line.
They also want to focus more on environment specific Joes that have unique looks, with an "alpine" specialist being the example cited.
They’ve begun using a stone washing technique to soften up camo patterns and make them look more worn. Hawk’s pants will be the first example.
They are planning to put out another Storm Shadow at some point using the newer fabric techniques shown with the Red Ninja and Ninja Viper. No timeline or indication of which version.
The plan for the next Snake-Eyes figure is to include both the v1 (commando) and v2 (visor) versions of his head so that owners of the original SE figures can replace its head with an all-sculpted design.
Production of Joes will decrease next year (possibly to only one per quarter) so that fans of Star Wars, G.I. Joe and the upcoming DC Comics action figures will be able to collect all three.
Concerned with that Sci Fi comment, Battle Force 2000??? WTF
--
I'm guessing the "sci-fi" element means we'll see figures such as . . .
AIRTIGHT (chemical, biological, radiological)
B.A.T.
DIAL-TONE
FLASH (laser rifle)
GRAND SLAM (w/ JUMP) or maybe STARDUSTER (w/ JUMP)
MAINFRAME
NIGHT-VIPER
SCI-FI (laser rifle)
TECHNO-VIPER
TELE-VIPER
Throw in Zarana and Jinx too!
--Most definitely. Speaking of Zarana, did anyone snag one from SDCC or HTS? I completely forgot about her in all the Sideshow goodness.
--Drop the boring(expensive) environments and just produce more
12" figures!! Bring on Snow Job,Destro, and Alpine!!
I dont care how heavy they make junkyard in the box, they must make Mutt!!
Where it gets laughable is trying to apply that logic to 3 female Joes who amongst themselves, aside from the base body, are 100% different from each other to argue why releasing female Joes anywhere but dead last would cause the Joe line to fail.
--
Just a guess, but . . .
IF Sideshow produces MUTT & JUNKYARD . . . We'll see MUTT produced as a stand alone figure and the exclusive version will come with JUNKYARD . . . OR . . . JUNKYARD will come with a GI JOE checkpoint/sentry mini-environment that will compliment MUTT . . . contrary to what was previously stated about 12" environments.
And when all is said and done, Scarlett, Lady Jaye nor the Baroness will kill the line.
I think I 100% agree with you and know where you are going from, I'm just saying that I think if they released 10-12 female figures in 1 year (regardless of license) you will get a lot of people start spouting a lot of hyperbole about how Sideshow has gone soft or looking for more female collectors or something. You know how people around here usually only concern themselves with the immediate future.
So I'm saying that while the talk might be unfounded and unnecessary, the talk will be there.
