Release is 2010 but I don't think it will be in the first or second quarter as this figure is still pending approval.

Various paintjobs will be offered, this is just a protoype so the screws are not going to be there in the final version and it will also be able to light up with some LED's.

Paintjob I heard of was a Winter version because of Shadow Moses Island's location. ;) But I am sure a game accurate version will be available.

Price is going to be around $350 I would think, based on previous releases by ThreeA.

Fully articulated also! He can righten himself or become real small.

Hopefully that $350 tag holds true. I was preparing to budget for twice that amount :monkey3

...yeah plastic at that kind of price...I'll have to wait and see. For that kind of money I want diecast.

those previous releases didn't have a license to pay

Might have to budget in a display case for this beast, and those can run up a few hundred bucks easily for a mirrored base and acrylic cover.

Im gonna plan on this being $400, that way I'll be pleasantly surprised when its not. But if it is I'll be mentally prepared :sick:monkey3

Being a huge mech fan, I'm very excited about this piece. Since first experiencing the fearsome Rex trying to crush Snake, I've wanted a faithful replica of it in my collection. And in the last ten+ years since it's inception, I've yet to see a mech design as awesome Rex.

At once complex yet spartan, Rex exudes raw power and after it's reincarnation in MGS4, I knew I had to find a scale model of it. And now, possibly mere months away, it lies before me! And yet, like many, I have mild concerns about price, but more importantly, the design.

I know what we're seeing is a very early prototype and the mere notion of owning a Rex designed such a quality studio as 3A is, as has been demonstrated in this thread, geekgasm inducing, Im really looking forward to a more final design with articulation and lighting demos to get truly excited about it. Nevertheless, can't wait to see how it turns out

Nope not yet. Size is not going to change but I did not measure it when I was there so I can't say for certain how big he is. Size also changes depending how you set him up, he can be as high as 20" I think. Date is 2010, no month yet.

Just a few bits of info taken from the threeA board made by Ashley Wood.

"rex has many small part, as he is fully articulated. Infact i would say he has more part than most toys, all ABS~"

"we can make anything, detail is easy, small bit are no hassle, it depends on the design.''

''Rex is ____ off amazing, no one can match it, same with Ray. MGS fans will appreciate it, they know my heritage with MGS, I deal directly with Shinkawa san on this stuff!''

''it will make for the best MGS toys period"

"that sample was 3 generations ago, way better now"
- here he is talking about REX sample shown as HKV last year!

Man, I hope Rex comes out in at least a few months more. I need more time to save up some dough! :monkey2

If I remember correctly, Ash said they weren't too far from release, but that doesn't mean anything as far as I am concerned.
