I know that it sucked balls beyond belief but for historical purposes would anyone want a nice figure of the original insect-like Van Dam Predator that was used before the redesign?

I wouldn't mind having one.

I'd rather have that over a fig of wah-Damme.

I'd definitely buy one. For these two reasons:

1. Twas the original Predator design

2. When it has so much to do with something you love BEYOND belief, you start to like it. For me atleast. I've grown to actually like it's design because it is associated with something I've always loved, worshipped, dreamed about, etc.

Makes sense, you could also say that it's important because if it hadn't of been so awful McTiernan wouldn't have ordered a redesign that brought us the magnificent beast we know and love now.

So I got this stuff on ebay, its a putty type material and you can roll it out like play doe and when it dries it is strong and spongy. I tried it out and it would work good for predator quills (it can be made to any size and thickness) I might use it on my 1/4 scale Pred. It is a black material but it doesn't match the color of NECA dreds, nothing a little paint wont fix. My question is what is the best type of paint for rubber or latex, the paint will need to have some flex to it.

These are my test dreds, they were dry in about 10 minutes.

Sorry for the crappy pics, new camera is on the horizon.

highlanderpdx, could you please let the link or at least the item ref.? :wink1:
Would be apreciated!
In advance thank you! :hi5:

... "strong and spongy"? Do you mean dense and flexible? :dunno

Yes, dense and flexible, ha ha.
I got this stuff on ebay, I am pretty sure I over paid for this stuff, but I was curious. To me it looks like a perfect way to get quills in any size you like and it was kinda fun rolling it out. The seller sent me a block of the stuff instead of the preformed quills he was selling on ebay. You might want to contact him to see what exactly it is.

Hey Baloo, the auction says this guy is from Paris, your from there right?

Well, I do not live in Paris, but we can say that I am much closer to our French capital than you could be... :D

... And many thanks for the info!! :hi5:

@ Yautja-fr: Excellent ça, Greg! :yess:
... Si tu le connais, cela t'embêterait-il de lui demander la réf. de son produit?... Car cette "pâte à modeler" me rendrait bien des services (pas que pour faire des p'tits poils à mon Pred, quoi!... :lol)

A test of some netting I found. Not sold on it yet, but it's getting there. Some parts stretched more than I wanted it to.
I borrowed someone's pic:peace for comparison:

it's grout mesh. Got it at Lowe's. It's definitely stronger than what NECA used. Problem is that it's only 6" wide. In that pic there are many parts not covered by net, but is hidden by the armor. It's possible to work with this width, but at minimum it needs two more inches so that it doesn't require so much work to make the net look like it covers the whole body.

I'm going to check Home Depot next.

Oh, and it was $4.37 for a pretty substantial roll (100ft)

Ya know, you'd think with the media making homosexuality the latest fashion trend, that the material netting we all want to mod this would be mass produced in major retail stores, i.e. Wal Mart, K Mart, Sears or where ever. I mean, if I can pick up feminine hygiene products for my wife while I'm out, I wouldn't be embarrassed to buy mens fish-net stockings , for crying out loud! Just when the overweight cashier with 5 teeth and 10 lbs of make-up on at Wally World checks me out and looks at me strange, I'll just blow her ..... him ...... IT a kiss, and wink. Problem solved, I got my netting and Wanda gets something to help her ..... him .... IT sleep on that night :wink

Gays don't wear netting. they are into the leather chaps and harnesses. that's why they love motorcycle shops. only women wear sexy netting clothing. that's why it is hard to find in regular stores.
