This is not Terminator 1, sculpt looks very wrong.
Sry.

Where is the dirty looking, nasty and scary Machine ?
Yeah, because the lighting in those two pictures is nearly identical, therefore it's so easy to judge them side by side and pass judgement. Good call. :D ;)
See, that brings up something I feel fairly strongly about.

Do Sideshow's PFs have the photo-realism of HT portraits, no, but, while some people may really want them to be, I don't consider it a fault of the work if they aren't.

Sideshow PFs have a style, they've grown with that style, I think PFs today look nicer than earlier ones, but nonetheless, they have their own style, and within that, this T-800 looks great.

I don't think it right to faul Sideshow if a product doesn't look like what people think it should. If they said, we're aiming for it to look as lifelike as an HT head, then I'd say, fault them, they missed, but they've never said that's what they're aiming for, they just make products in the style of their choice and can't be faulted just because it may or may not be to our tastes, it doesn't speak to their abilities, it speaks to our wants.
Personally, I blame Tom Gilliland. I hate that guy! :lol

lol, this place is well predictable!

Pages and pages of hate on the T1 PF, 'oh the Hot Toys blah de blah'. 'How come it doesn't look like the awesome statue I had in my imagination?':cuckoo::rotfl

Anyways, this is looking spot on I reckon especially that BD profile. Getting the EX.:yess::yess:

What a horrid comparison .................. they're not even from similar moments in the film. One shot looks to have 10 spotlights on it whereas the other in a dark drivers seat. :dunno

I agree with Maulfan and its what I was trying to say in a previous post from the other day. They have their own style and that style is not HT's.

No overall it looks off.
But ok everyone has other opinion.

I called and asked them about the possibility of a light-up head and they said they were not sure yet if the head will light up or not. The rep said "we are still trying to decide." So, I guess we'll have to wait and see...

HT's overall quality has doubled if not triple over the past 4 years whereas Sideshow's hasn't imo. Their product looks the same as it always has over the course of its releases. Thats not a bad thing though. Their PF's have always been good but the paint quality is nowhere near as good as HT's. Hense the price increase. Or maybe Sideshow's PF's are just very fair priced.

i like both, PFs and HTs.

HT def has the better paint quality, as far as sculpt goes, i'd say they are both tied, sometimes PFs nail the likeness dead on (mola ram) and sometimes they mess up the likeness really bad (ripley in powerloader), the biggest plus to PF is the scale

HT has awesome paints, awesome licenses and they are very creative, however, at times something is off with their likeness which makes a figure from being "perfect" to just "not bad" (T-800's likeness was just off to me and the T1000 disguised as T1000)

either way, i have to pick and choose and can't just collect it all because both lines are just too damn expensive, the upside to PFs is that the prices don't keep escalating, where as HT keeps going up and up, and unless you catch it when it was first released, you're gonna pay a pretty penny for a single figure (P2 elder)

Avoiding this. Not enough battle damage together with the likeness issue and non-light up (which seems like a no brainer) made this an easy pass.

I just hope the jacket that ships is as nice as the proto, the costuming is really nice on this.

Something I'm curious about, even Sideshow went brown with his pants like HT did, I wonder what source images they based this on, most of the film shots lean towards grey.

Just so you're aware, Ripley is not a good case for likeness arguments, the Ripley had to look off, Sideshow and Hot Toys could not get Weaver's likeness for their Ripley products.

In some cases HT's price hikes are justified (chairs, special stands, etc) but overall I find the preorder prices of their new DX's nuts! Thats way too high imo. A HT's item priced around $150-$165 is about right regardless of goodies added.

As for PF's i'm already a huge fan. I've never been a "picky" collector so its always win-win for me. Theres alot more to a PF than just its sculpt or paintwork (although primary of course) their outfits are killer most of the time.

I reckon that's a might better than "Hell no, fanboy! Deal with it and piss off!"

Sounds good, looks like they will do it if there is enough demand.

Really? You're gonna compare these two pics? :lol :lol

Sorry but no. Nice try though.

I say we start demanding and see what happens. Heck, they did Thanos with a surprise light-up, so who knows?

I'm in on getting the light-up head. Let the bombardment of demands begin! :D

I don't need, nor do I want gimmicks on my figures/statues if at all possible. Light up features meet that definition by my reckoning. I would much prefer the eye (as well as the rest of the head) to be nicely painted.
