Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

The chin looks less pronounced to me...will wait for in-hand pics to decide. Got my notice. :)

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

Nice. But when he ships, I will have zero SS Star Wars on preorder. . .

Once Yoda ships I will have nothing on order from Sideshow. :(

From eBay. Looks promising enough...

...chin still feels a little too pointy to me and hope he's not too dark of a green. I'm excited, though. It's been a long time comin'.

Lot of stuff although I'm a little bummed I don't see a mini stand for him like the others.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

Looks good.

Glad the snake is wired and poseable, for what its worth. Gonna use it with Indy.

8 hands!? OK.

Got my notice as well.

Man, these things are comin' fast. Figured they would have had to order more green and brown paint by now between Greedo, Hammy, Gammy and now Yoda.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

Not much of a picture to judge him on but he looks a little too bright green.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

i still can't believe we get a newly tooled figure for under $80.

I don't understand why so many people think new molds and tooling costs Sideshow that much money. They're not producing these in the hundreds of thousands, so they don't use the steel or aluminum molds... they use (much) cheaper urethane ones. Trust me, they're not passing any savings on to the consumer. If anything they're pathological in their pursuit of profit margin per item.

what part of sideshow's manufacturing process are you involved in again?? i forget.

None. But that doesn't mean I can't/don't know stuff about their process, and how this stuff works in general.

I also make/use urethane molds myself all the time for my prop building stuff. They can be pricey, but nothing remotely like the metal molds necessary for producing pulls in the numbers of companies like Hasbro, NECA, etc. And certainly no reason to force even a brand new sculpt past the $100 range per item by default.

Sideshow has some of you people right where they want you if you're truly surprised a figure like this Yoda came in under $80.

That said, it's a decent price, fair, and I'm happy with it. But I think some of you are being submitted into thinking that there's always a justifiable manufacturing cost reason for all of these items to be priced the way they are.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

The real question is: regardless of production cost, is it worth $80 to the individual? There's few things in life that cost to make what you pay. In fact, is there anything?

If Demon Bats/Scarecrow is worth $400+ to so many, than surely there's SW fans here that think $80 is worth it to have a new Yoda.

I'm getting it. For retail though, maybe even ebay to save a few bucks.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

It's worth $15 to me coz that's all I am paying. :D

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

Its worth $80 to me. If it wasn't I wouldn't buy it.

I'm sure each molding doesn't make the price of things just jump crazy but it does add to it as do other factors. Then you add in the cost to do business and you get what you get. Its nothing worse going to best buy and what you get with TV's, Blu Ray players, etc.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

Looks pretty good to me. I'm holding off on him til I find a good deal (like at Go Hastings) later on--he's not a "must-have" for me. And as cool as the orange snake is, I can do without it.

But this ebay pic is making my resolve waver! I better stay out of this thread when people start posting their in-hand pics!

He's what, only 70 bucks :dunno

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

Bright? If anything he looks too even and too dark to me. :dunno

Yes, bright. Too dark as well but part of that is being too bright, like overly saturated. He should be lighter and have a bit more gray to it. Less bright and saturated green.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

His value to me will be determined when I start to see in hand pics. But being who he is, I feel he's necessary to add to my SW SS Collection.

It's YODA... how long we been cryin' for this?

Still, I'm hopeful to snag him for $60-70 shipped.

$70 isn't bad, especially now that everything's $90-$125. This is one that, although I want him, I can totally wait a year or two for a good deal. His edition size (5000) seems large enough that he'll be around for a bit.

I'm still incredibly annoyed at myself over the Sandtrooper Squad Leader that I paid full price ($110) on through SS, only to see him for $75 PLUS 20% off in GoHastings less than a month later!:gah:

But damn, once the in-hands pics start coming in, I might cave!

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

Oh, you guys and your damn rewards points! ;)

Got my processing notice also. Buying direct from SS for the exclusive. Love the Kenner "nod" with the orange snake!
