They were obviously sculpted at the same time and probably months or close to a year ago. They had committed to releasing both of them regardless of the reception they have received.

Steve Wang is an artist of the highest calibre and has earned the right to "artistic impression". While I think these look awesome I have no interest in purchasing them and I can understand that they are not to everyones taste.

But I can appreciate the art involved.

So I'm imagining this got said by a sideshow exec at the unveiling meeting:

"Ok, so we sculpted the eyes wrong and them painted them with cinnamon roll icing, using dessert frosting saves us money! Let's ask $600 for it and call it a day!"

Just stick with the source material FFS!

If eyes were bigger and the chest symbol i might have bought it but i think youd need to get the carnage as them seem to compliment one another but if it was at 500 i think more people would be leaning towards it!

While I agree and like both his interpretations of Carnage and Venom to an extent, he needs to stay away from anything Sideshow Marvel related

I expected something like this:

a representation of the Ultimate Spider-Man's Venom....I did not expect to get the symbiote that combined with Big Bird. It's strange and part of me likes it but definitely not for $600. I don't understand after the first being so stylized why go stylized again? You'd think we'd get a Bagley Venom which is how most know him....

but I guess a Humberto Ramos version would be most likely next.

I think that this looks incredible! I much prefer it to the original bust. There again, I'm not as invested in the character, so I'm not as familiar with the different incarnations of it as many of you. There's no specific image of it burned into my brain, so when I look at it, I just see a bust that I would definitely want in my display.

It's definitely the eye size that is pulling the too high up and bird-ish feel to it.
